TITLE
The pandemic impact on NHS system.
INTRODUCTION
Pandemic is defined as the any disease outbreak which can be spread across the countries or the
continent. This is majorly affect the people in the vast population and take more lives as
comparison with the epidemic. Therefore, the world health organisation announced and declared
the COVID-19 as a pandemic which can at the point which is severe and that was spread quickly
over the wide area (Hutchings and et. al., 2020). Moreover, this pandemic create various
hindrance in the delivery of healthcare services. The national health services is the umbrella
which is term as publicly funded and organised healthcare system which is in United Kingdom.
The main purpose of national health services is to promote the establishment of the health
services which help to secure improvement in the physical and mental health of the people and
the prevention, diagnosis and the cause of treatment of disease. Specifically, a huge impact is
occur in the service of NHS due the pandemic. As per this, patient suffering from the illness have
placed which is demanded for the acute care and majorly focus on the treatment of intensive care
unit. Due to the impact of pandemic the enhancement they demand and changes to supply which
have large knock on effect on the provided to the wider population. Overall, this report is based
on the major effect which affect and create impact on NHS system (Erro-Garcés and et. al.,
2020).

RATIONALE OF RESEARCH
The research is well conducted with the proper rationale which allow to understand and develop
some of the attribute which is proportional to personal and professional development. The
research topic is useful to expand the knowledge about the pandemic and their effect which can
cause impact as a base hindrance in the function of NHS. Whereas, it is also helpful to
understand the consequence and majorly they help to develop strategies and action plan to reduce
impact as a part of professional term. Hence, it help to develop personal and professional
knowledge which is associated with research topic.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Concept of pandemic and NHS System
According to the view point of Abdul Rahman Jazieh and Kozlakidis, (2019), the SARS
COVID-19 serves as a alteration activator, accelerating the execution as well as adoption of
changes in well-being precautions. A new healthcare model developed with more importance on
preventive measures, essential technology dependence. As these are close against ongoing
technological challenges to meet surge capacity in laboratory experiments, various mental health
issues, the fast tracked technology execution and many more (Overview of concepts of pandemic
and NHS, 2019). It has been seen in mental healthcare issues well that the SARS-COVID 19
pandemic has became a stimulator for online therapies as well as the e-health tools in daily
routine practice (Chen, Tapan and Prasad). In this, it is more likely that once the mental
healthcare organizations developed the capabilities of post COVID patients to serve their patients
with new digital technologies so as to free-up the area as well as the capacity in acute hospitals
which enables remote working that ultimately leads to the reduced risk of contamination in NHS
settings.
Impact of pandemic on NHS system
According to the prospective of Carol Proper and et. al., (2020), the COVID-19 pandemic
causes a major impact on the national health services(NHS) as the patients who were suffering
from this pandemic have placed new demands for acute care, especially the intensive care units
(ICU). Ultimately, this has led to an attempt to gain the resources which are available to NHS
including hospitals to treat their patients consisting the hospital facilities to reorganize, to
redeploy the existing staff to fight with this pandemic (Chen, Tapan and Prasad). Their are some

past evidences from UK which strongly intimates that the corona virus has affects the group of
population especially, older individuals, men, people from Asia are at higher risk of death from
this pandemic (Overview of impacts of pandemic on NHS, 2020). As the demand for care of
coronavirus patients have become a collective efforts for hiking the hospital capacity but also it
is against a backdrop in having some extra Intensive care unit beds as well as shortage in existing
staff. To deal with these cases, the resources which are available for non-corona virus patients
have been reduced and most of the people had postponed or cancelled their appointments to
avoid rush in hospitals.
Ways to minimise the effect of pandemic on NHS System
On the basis of Christi, (2020), there are some strategies which are required to deal with
this pandemic involves screening which is done at every healthcare centres. Screening is done
with a device such as thermometer that is basically used to detect the raising body temperature
which is associated with high fever caused by novel coronavirus (Overview of pandemic
strategies, 2020). People who are suspected with this novel virus needs to be tested (Glasper,
2021). In concern with COVID-19 capacity concerns has emerged out as hospitals needs
resources like extra beds, equipments, separate rooms, and medical staff in order to deal with
COVID-19 patients. The NHS system also need the equipments like extra PPE kits for their
safety purpose.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research philosophy
Epistemology: This is defined as the branch of philosophy which is have some of the
certain question such as what is or should be which act as acceptable knowledge which cat as
discipline and ways to obtain. They have set of answer with the beginning of question as per the
how and what. However, perception, sensation and reason are usually considered as the
knowledge with epistemology.
Ontology: This is defined as the branch of metaphysic which is related with the nature of
thing and they are mainly concern with the study or thing which can exhibit reality. Physical,
objects and properties are the key value which is set with various entities such as number and set
of all set which is said to be representing of ontology (Mohajan and et. al., 2018).

Research approach
This is usually happen with the second layer of research which is based on the research approach
which is either deductive or inductive and their selection is depend on the choices, aim and
limitation but sometime it is also depend on the personal opinion.
Deductive: This aspect of research approach is follow the tends which have flow which is
generic to specific. As per this, the deductive reasoning which start theory which used to take the
move on to research. In this, finding derived from the collected from the either confirm or reject
the research or hypothesis (Davey and et. al., 2021).
Research choices
The research choice is basically based on the quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative
research is defined as number, measurement and aspect of quantification which show the
relativity with statistics, graph and so on. Qualitative research is usually focus on the rich data
which include description, opinion and personal account. There are some of method which is
associated with this, in this mono-method, mixed method and multi-method which show the
flexible towards research (Shelton and et. al., 2018).
Ethical consideration
There are some of the ethical consideration which is associated with the research project
is discuss about intellectual property, conscious with multiple role, follow informed consent
rules, respect other confidentially and their privacy and follow ethics resources.
Time scale and horizon
There are two type of option which is associated with the time horizon. As per this, cross
sectional is used to state that they represent view on the particular situation which is associated
with the topic and have some of duration of data collection and research to short period of time.
In this, longitudinal is a type of research studies which show the events and behaviour using the
concentrated sample over a period of time (Moores and et. al., 2017).
FINDING AND DISCUSSION
The finding of the research allow to state about the impact and challenges which is faced
by NHS system with their function and flow of work. They usually focus on promotion of health
approaches and regulated various policies and legislation which allow individual to take quality
of health. In this, due the heavy fall of patient consequence due to pandemic cases which is

enhance as per time to time. Overall, function saturation and their stability is render due to
pandemic.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
As per the above discussion, it is analyse that the pandemic have major influence in the health
condition of various age group. As per this, it also affect the healthcare service and their policies.
In this, NHS has been impacted with the rise loss of accountability. They suffer with economic
loss, health modification loss and other core of losses which show that they faces crises due the
pandemic.
