Government of different countries does that in order to protect the interest of the companies and
people who are streaming on their page. They protect them from content which includes
terrorism, cyber bullying and child abuse. It is the duty of companies to make sure that anything
like this is not posted or uploaded on their site and if it has been posted then it must be taken
down immediately. They used to rely on self governance as companies such as You tube and
face book have their own set of policies and regulations for which type of content posted will be
acceptable and how does the users need to behave towards each other (Laudon and Traver,
2016). YouTube has a report which was released by the company which states the fact about
their transparency. In that report all the information is highlighted as to what type of data will be
considered as inappropriate. The site which is known for sharing videos is owned by Google
more than 8 million videos were removed in just 3 months of 2019 and approximately 93 per
cent of them were done by the use of machines without any interference of humans. According
to statistics two thirds of those videos did not even get one view. Face book which owns
Instagram that for its safety and security the company has around 35,000 and they also have the
work of releasing statistics about the removal of video. The company took action on more than
30 million pieces of content up loaders and that was just in three months of 2019. Although it
affects the business of the companies badly as more views on roasting content will create more
traffic but there are content which promotes bad and negative influence and it is for the safety of
the people as well as the company to put a stop to it. Policies has changed earlier companies
were held responsible for not taking the video down. But now if any illegal video is uploaded by
the same individual again then action will be taken against him. In United Kingdom the
government mostly rely on social media platforms to govern themselves on their own but that is
not the case in every country. Different countries have different laws and many of them fine on
companies as well as the individual who posted the video. This affects the revenue, income as
well as affects the confidence of other content creators that if they are charged for the same cause
(Napoli, 2018).
