INTRODUCTION
Aboriginal Torres Islanders are indigenous Society of Australia who follows complete
different culture and beliefs according to their ancient identities. The assessment will outline
about settlement of European in Australia and its impact on attitude and beliefs of Torres
islanders.
MAIN BODY
European settlement in Australia began in 1787, 13 May when fleet of 11 ships sailed
from England (European Settlement Captain Cook first sighted the east coast of Australia in
1770, 2018). The European settlement grew from the biggest city of Australia and the reason
behind movement of Britishers in Australia was to enable place for sending convicts for
punishments (AUSTRALIA EUROPEAN SETTLEMENT, 2012). However, in start of settlement
1530 European travelled to Botany way among which 730 were convicts. In addition, the
individuals who were responsible for building settlement for Convicts in Australia were group of
inefficient workers where some of them had knowledge over carpentry or farming.
The major event which impacted attitude and beliefs of Aboriginal was loss of lands
because Britishers were settling with motive of grabbing land of Torres islanders. Influence on
culture and loss of land was the major drawback faced by indigenous society (Loos, 2017).
Moreover, the colony was coming up with different languages and new customs which was
hampering traditions and customers of aboriginal society. In addition, after European colony it
was determined that aboriginal people faces ill treatment and has terrible influence of European
diseases (Sherwood, 2013). Hence, it can be outlined that introduction of Alcohol le to
breakdown in lifestyle of aboriginal society.
CONCLUSION
