2RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Background
As technology and software are becoming advanced with each passing day, it has
impacted the project managers in variable fields. Several kinds of research have been done for
analyzing the impact of software and technology on project management such as improved
communication, cloud efficiency, report and update of project plans. Many researchers have
developed 4D models from 3D components of BMI of a schedule of a project (Wang 2014).
Multirotor drones have been used in transportation for surveillance and mapping of mining.
However, the use of 12D and drones to conduct site surveys, drones in a monitoring construction
project, scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Revit, and BIM have not been done yet.
Therefore, the introduction of drones, 12D, and scheduling software in the construction project is
necessary, and it would significantly increase the versatility of the project managers.
Objectives
The targeted objectives related to this research are:
1. To analyze the impact of software and technology on project management.
2. To explore the methodologies such as surveys, literature review used in analyzing
the technologies like Drones, 12D and scheduling software in construction sites.
3. To recommend suitable impacts on the project managers of the construction sites
and general communities.
Hypothesis/Questions
RQ1. What are the impacts of emerging technologies and software on project management?

3RESEARCH PROPOSAL
RQ2. What methodologies could be used in analyzing technology and software in the field of
construction for the project managers?
RQ3. What will be the impact of emerging technology and software on the project manager as
well as the general communities?
Methodology
Literature Review
Background review of BIM for scheduling support of project
Many researchers have used three dimensional components in the construction of four
dimensional models in BIM. For site operation, project schedule is generated of the materials
required such as forms, concrete and steel in the construction (Wang 2014). Various packages of
software were used for storage, transfer and collection of information. Allocation of resources is
done by creating specific construction plan. Therefore, project scheduling is related to the 3D
components of BIM producing 4D models.
Introduction of multirotor drones
In the field of innovative technology, multirotor drones have emerged in many areas such
as in transportation field for surveillance and in mining for mapping (Babel, 2015). Multirotor
drones can facilitate the field of construction such as logistics, maintenance, cost effectiveness
land surveying and demolition (Li and Liu 2019). In today’s world drones or UAVs are replacing
geospatial data and those data are in remote system in large quantity (Tebay and Stockton 2016).
However, drones continue to be useful in the future in construction industry.
RQ2. What methodologies could be used in analyzing technology and software in the field of
construction for the project managers?
RQ3. What will be the impact of emerging technology and software on the project manager as
well as the general communities?

4RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Research gap
Drones with fixed wings and unable to hover in air becomes great difficulty in
construction site also accuracy of the collected data from three dimensional point cloud of the
drones becomes questionable.
Survey
This research will depend on both primary and secondary data. Where secondary data is
the existing materials on software and technology used in the field of construction that has eased
the work of management, how 12 dimensional models have been used in past and how these can
be utilized in construction field and the primary data is the collection of data by the means of
survey done on a sample population of 15 managers of different construction sites and 20 people
from general communities. Statistical analysis and sampling of the primary and secondary data
from the survey need to be done.
The isolation of the key parameters that is movement of the separate wings of the drones,
accuracy of collected data of the research, identification of the range of variation in the
experiment, testing of the 12 dimensional models as well as drones for smaller areas (Dufour et
al. 2016). The collected data would be processed and analyzed thoroughly and accordingly the
result would be analyzed.
Ethical issues such as transparency, confidentiality, honesty, loyalty and
acknowledgement of the collected data from the published materials and expected sample must
be taken into consideration for further research purpose (Bainbridge, 2013).
