LITERATURE REVIEW
What is the relevance of trainings and development for the employees?
According to Frost (2019), training and development plays an important role in the company as it
helps employees in gaining skills and knowledge for increasing productivity and efficiency.
Training is an opportunity for employees in the company as company needs them to be adaptive
and dynamic in their jobs. Whereas development helps in enhancing skills of employees such as
attitude, leadership, thought process and communication. Importance of training and
development for employees is explained below:
 Improved performance of employees – Training and development programs helps in
strengthening skills and knowledge of employees for better performance(Ahmad, Ashraf
and Mangi, 2020). This method enables employees in boosting confidence that increases
their work efficiency and productivity in an organization. There are different types of
training that companies offer such as product development training, new technology
training and QA training.
 Increases employee satisfaction – Company invests a large amount of money for
organising training and development programs for employees enhancement. This strategy
helps in increasing satisfaction among employees because they feel empowered and
confident in performing their task. Proper training creates a appropriate and friendly
environment for workers in which they feel appreciated and challenged.
ï‚· Organized training and development program - This program helps employees in
having consistent experience and prospect knowledge about the company's policies and
procedures. Structured program includes safety, administrative and discrimination tasks
which provides employees have knowledge about company procedures and expectations.
 Builds motivation and loyalty – By providing proper training and development
opportunities builds loyalty between organization and employee. Thus it also provides
motivation among employees to excel their skills by learning more for performing better
in their job role(Cobblah and Van der Walt, 2017).
 Increases profitability – The main aim of training and development program is to boost
profitability of company. These programs impact positively as employees become more

effective, loyal, productive, satisfied and creative which automatically ensures more
profits and the company witness maximum return from their investment.
What are the challenges face by company in order to regulate training programmes?
According to Periyasamy (2022), employees are the biggest asset of company which put efforts
for achieving desired objectives. Thus, investing in training programs becomes paramount for
companies for overall growth and experience of employees. Employees need training that is
ongoing and effective to increase productivity and efficiency to keep them motivated. Therefore,
companies face many challenges at the workplace:
 Hectic schedule for employees – Training programs makes schedule of employees
hectic as they are already stressed by office work, family life and other demands which
drains their energy. They need to give extra time for completing their projects because
training takes most of the time of working which is a major challenge for employees in
the company.
 Information overload – Information load on employees is a major challenge for
companies at the time of training programs. Companies provide training to new
employees with a expectation that they grasp all learnings in one day but this creates
problems for them to gain knowledge.
 Need of employee engagement – Employee engagement is also a major challenge for
companies that is important for better performance and productivity(Slavić and Berber,
2019). Disengaged employees brings negativity in the company which hampers the
growth as they are not giving their hundred percent in their work. So it is necessary for
companies to empower employees to work with right tools and methods to increase
motivation so that they feel valuable.
 Negative feedback and support system – Negative feedback of managers can reduce
the morale of employees at workplace. This results in decreased performance and
capability which hampers the productivity and growth of company. Manager needs to
provide support for improving employee performance as they are the assets of company
which helps in achieving organization objectives.
 Different generation people in an organization – There are different generation people
working in an organisation that is one of the challenging issue in training and
development. Young generation people are more familiar with the digital technology
Document Page
whereas older employees takes time in learning new skills related to new technology. So
company needs to adopt different learning styles for supporting different generation
people for improved performance and efficiency.
How these challenges impact on the career opportunities and growth of employees?
According to Half (2022), training and development challenges impacts negatively on career
development opportunities and employees growth. Because these challenges creates problems
for employees to overcome these weaknesses as it affects their overall performance in the
company. Continuous job training and education enables employees in learning new technology
and innovation which gives scope for further career advancement and growth. But negative
feedback decreases their work efficiency in an organization which effects the growth of
employees. Traditional training methods are not effective in an organization as there is a rapid
increase in remote work culture which forces mangers to adopt to modern methods of training.
But this challenge effects the knowledge and skills of employees which results in frustration and
decreased employee growth and productivity.
Hectic schedules in office hampers their personal life as most of the time is utilized in
completing the assigned task and trainings which decreases their capability to think in a broad
way. Companies want their employees to grasp all learnings in a day which hinders their
working capacity because an individual needs time to understand the concept for showing better
results. Rapid changes in technology also effects employee growth and career as older employees
faces difficulty in adapting to the new software and methods which in turn makes them
demotivated as they find themselves less efficient and capable(Sung and Choi 2018). Career
growth involves full dedication and engagement of employees in company so that they result in
increased productivity but due to improper training disengaged employees does not perform well
in an organisation. These challenges creates difficulties in learning new skills for career
advancement and growth so it is necessary for organization to provide proper training that
supports employees in reaching higher positions in an organization.
