How America got involved in the Great War?
The World War I, or the Great War as the Americans call it, were neutral during the
initiation of the World War I, but the trade relationship of the country, with Britain, and had
compelled the country to get into the warfare. Americans favored to avoid the war situation,
but the since it was in god terms with Britain, and since the later was in an direct war with
Germany, Germany had taken the strategy to sink the ships of the Britain, irrespective of the
some of the ships being unarmed and belonging to America. In 1915, as several ships from
America were entering the coasts of Britain, Germany had torpedoed the ships, which made
the president Woodrow Wilson exasperated, but the Germany had however, made peace with
America. But, after consecutive attacks on the ships of the country, and violating the peace
treaties and the diplomatic treaties signed in between these two countries, and killing
hundreds of unarmed Americans, the president of the country had made a plea to wage war
against Germany, and thus America had entered the war situation (Foner, 2013).
How Americans experienced the war?
The continuous attacks had made the country to enter the war situation and upon the
approval of the plea to wage war against Germany, 14,000 American troops were sent to
France and the training for combat was initiated. After four years of continuous training and
war, America had taken a pivotal role in the war situation, changing the direction of the war
and enabling the allies to win the war. The entrance of America within the war situation had
marked a turning point in the war situation (Furtado, 2018). More than two million of people
had served in the war that had created an impact on the social, political and economic life of
the country.

Effects of the Great War on America.
The World War I had created a profound impact upon the country. The country had
successfully established a permanent military system and also introduced a foreign policy,
focusing on the reformation o the world politics and international economy. However, the
war situation had introduced within the country domestic conflicts, which gradually created
the impetus for the civil war. The country was introduced to conflicts in the class, race and
ethnic conflict, along with these, the country was introduced to a volume of literature and
political and economic ideology within the society (Coffman, 2014) This had resulted into
two folds, on one hand it had created the impetus for the rise of democracy and on the other
hand it had introduced the country with a unified war effort among the people of the country
that might rise in the future, which did eventually (Kagan, 2013). This combination of
progression and repression, had further changed the aspects of politics of the country, and
repressed the support for the Democratic Party. And provided the country with a conservative
political orientation.
