INTRODUCTION
Management have their own importance in every business. The report is based upon a
case scenario of Imperial Hotel which is in London and operates 25 hotel in UK. But the report
present that hotel is suffering from a problem which is based upon a negative work culture
among the staff because of high level of sick leave and as a result their performance is also low
because of poor attendance during their working hours. Therefore, the report present a review of
management theory on the basis of this problem face by Imperial Hotel and also suggest some
suggestion in order to overcome from this problem with proper justification provided by Peter
Fransworth.
Review of management theory
As Imperial Hotel faces many problem regarding the negative working culture because
their workers are actually working in hotel for long term and for this reason the staff members
are going to sick at very short period. In order to review this, the system management theory is
actually utilized whose aim is to achieve the integrated and balance work in the management
(Bhalla, Qazi and Miralam, 2018). The system also includes in order to identify the overall goals
as well as objectives of the company and it further states the cycles that helps to calculate the
input as well as outcomes. Thus this management theory also becomes more effective for
particular pattern. In the context of Imperial Hotel, it also faces many problem regarding
negative workforce such that the hotel is running for 24 hours a day and as a result due to poor
working hours, employees or staff members of the company have no time to take rest and if
directly affect their working performance. Because of their poor attendance, the brand image of
the hotel is also decline which creates lot of problem such as poor profit margin etc.
In past times, the style of the management is authoritarian which shows that the entire
decision making is depend upon the manger only and because of this, no one in involve in the the
decision making process. Hence, it creates a lot of problem such as poor guest satisfaction level
and creates negative work culture among the staff members.
Problem analysis
The organizational culture directly affect the working condition as well as performance of
their staff members. In the same case every business as well as hotel are also affected from the

positive working culture. In the reference of Imperial Hotel, the working culture of the company
in not appropriate and it is also being busy from 24 hours with 365 days which shows that there
are so long working hours and as a result the entire working staff is also gone off sick that
creates negative impact upon Hotel. Due to such a long working hours, the workers shows poor
performance and guest are also not as satisfied as they needs to be. Another problem is such that
there are many females who working in it and because of their family commitment they also did
not come in proper time (Guida and et.al., 2018). In addition to this, the staff members are also
coming late without informing their supervisors and this problem creates negative impact upon
the working culture and due to such problem company's financial performance as well as brand
image affected. Due to high turnover of their supervisor staff members and adopting wrong
management style, the entire management system also affected because of their poor
performance by previous supervisor.
To mitigate and overcome such type of problem, Peter Fransworth provide many
suggestions that help to reduce the problem and this further help to sustain the brand image in
market. These suggestions are as follows:
Improve the standards and level of supervision: It is the foremost requirement of the
Imperial Hotel in which an active supervision of the company will be helpful to train their
employees and also have effective supervising management system. Moreover, through
improvement of the level of supervision will also help to raise the employee’s performance level
and as a result the performance will be upgraded then automatically the sales of hotel’s services
maximizes that further help to enhances the level of profit.
Moreover, at present situation, the company have poor and negative workplace because
of having low management system. This can be overcome through improvement in current
system and as a result improvement in the level of supervision will further to improve the brand
image in market (Hardy, Day and Arthur 2018). Even the standard of supervision is improved
then it will be helpful for the Imperial Hotel in positive way such that it creates positive impact
upon the employees as well as customers too.
Improve the culture of collaboration: Company’s culture is directly related to creates
best environment of the company and for this reason, there is a need to improve the culture of
Imperial too because it helps to create employee engagement and to work in collaboration means
to work in a group and it also help to achieve all goals and objectives of a firm. Even for the

exchanging of the information as well as sharing with the team members also helps to complete
the work in prescribed time.
Moreover, it has been analysed that to work in team will help Imperial Hotel to improve
the efficiency of their employees so that it will further help to attain the goals of a company.
Through improving the culture of collaboration will also be helpful to interact and raise the
production level of the company and it has been analysed that to working in the team will be
more effective as compared to working in single. Hence, it is quite necessary for the company to
improve their working culture and to overcome the problem such as reducing the negative
working culture of the company.
Keep staff members regularly involve in planning and problem solving: After
providing proper training session to their employees, it is quite necessary to keep involving their
employees regarding the planning and problem solving decisions such that it further help
Imperial Hotel to manage the work in more effective way. By involving the employees into
decisions making process will be also beneficial for a company to take such decision which are
taken for the welfare of the company (Yee, Marotta and Ow, 2018). Hence, by involving them
into planning will keep employees engaging into the system and as a result, it also makes them
feel that they are an important part of a system.
If the manager of a company will keep involving them into decision making process then
it is also get benefitted for a company to improve the current existing management system also.
In addition to this, through regular involving them will also take better decision and through this,
manager will also get better suggestion so that this will help them to take best solution among
many for the welfare of a company.
Reward system should be provided: It has been practiced for the imperial hotel, that if
the employees of a hotel perform best then they should have to receive a reward system in the
form of monetary or non- monetary form (Wright and Coyne, 2018). Providing a reward to them
will help to encourage or motivate them so that they will raise their working efficiency during a
particular time. Hence, to work in such type of environment also makes the staff members of
Imperial Hotel positive and confident and as a result they will automatically enhanced their
working efficiency in more advanced way.
It has been evaluated that providing reward and praise the work done by their employees
will make them more confident and effective in order to raise the production level of a company.

As a result, giving them rewards in a form of money will also motivates the staff members so
that they will definitely raise their own performance level. Hence, it has been critically find that
it is another solution which should be given to the staff members of the Imperial hotel.
Training should be provided: It is another solution which Peter Fransworth provided. In
this, proper training should be provided to the staff members in order to improve their current
working performance as well as efficiencies (Odor, 2018). If the training is provided by effective
trainer than it will be helpful in many ways such as enhances the working performance of their
employees, help to improve the communication skills that help to attend the customers in more
better ways.
In addition to this, if proper training is provided to the staff member of Imperial Hotel
then they will also provide their own suggestion in order to maximizes the sales of their company
and also help to sustain the brand image in market. Moreover, a better training session of the
staff will help to manage the things in more better ways and helpful to keep raising their
performance and as a result, it will be helpful to improve the negative workplace into positive
one and also overcome the problem of poor attendance also.
Summary and justification of key proposal
As the company faces some problem regarding the poor working culture and due to long
working hours Imperial hotel also did not satisfy the customers need and as a result their entire
production level got affected. Due to negative working culture the company's staff members have
to do work for long hours and as a result, their attendance are shorter (Liggins, 2017). This all
creates negative impact upon company's brand image and this can be minimised by applying
Peter Fransworth solution that help to sustain brand image in market and also help to maximizes
the profit also. The manager chooses this solution because this all help a person to maximizes
the working efficiencies of their people and there is need to take some strict action that help to
overcome from such problem.
Justification: As Imperial Hotel faces many problem and to overcome from such
problem, there is a need to change the working culture of the company and it be possible only if
the staff members of the company will get some proper training session and through attending
such session will be helpful for a company to achieve their all defined goals as well as
objectives. Moreover, with proper collaboration, the team of the company also get proper skills

that will also assist hotel to reach further level of success. If the supervision power of the
company can be improved so that it will also assist them to raise the efficiencies of their
company's employees and if the working performance of their employees will be improved then
it will also produces the best services to their customers and then help to maximizes the sales
(Hugos, 2018). So , there is a need to change the management structure that further assist the
employees of a company to change their working hours so that the poor attendance problem can
be minimizes. Because of the poor performance and low level of customer service there is a need
to take some strict action so that it will aid the company to reach their defined goals and
objectives of the company in order to reach further level of success.
CONCLUSION
By summing up above report it has been concluded that Imperial Hotel is faces problem
related to negative workplace and poor attendance of their staff because of long working hours.
Report provide many solution which Peter Franworth given such as training, reward system,
change in the working hours of the staff members etc. of the hotel implement such type of
system into the workplace then it will be beneficial to overcome from this. In addition to this
report also conclude that an effective management system will also be helpful for the company in
order to mitigate the problem in well manner and by using such strategy, Imperial hotel again
retain their customers as well as sustain the brand image in market.
