report which is based on Imperial Hotel, London, well known Star City hotels among the nation.
However, the hospitality company is facing different types of issues like Poor operating of
employees as well as increases in the ineffectiveness because of lack of encouragement.
Therefore, this is the report which covers various issues related to management along with some

It is very essential that the issue related to the ineffective performance of staff is

in order to resolve the issue and improve the overall business operations in an effective manner.

Therefore, in order to interpret the information properly about Imperial Hotel, it has been
observed that here is a specific theory which will aid in understanding the present situation of the
hotel which is known as Situational Leadership Theory. Before examining the theory according
to the case, it is said that there is different sort of leadership styles which are going to be
discussed as follows: Autocratic Leadership: It is an effective leadership style under which whole power as
well as authority of the business entity can only be accessible by few individuals. Also,
directive method is accepted by leaders which is associated with giving directions and
instructions to the employees (Loucks and Van Beek, 2017). Democratic Leadership: As per this approach, staff members are associated in the
overall process of decision making of the business organisation. Also there are thoughts

Laissez-Faire Leadership: it refers to a hands-off approach, in which staff take all the
decisions and chose process according to them choose in order to complete their work.
Emphasises on the theory, it is said that there are various quadrants, which shows their support to
the direction provided by the leaders to their staff members (Reynolds and Vince, 2017). The
employees among the workplace is presently in an adverse shape according to the given case

High Supporting Coaching
Low Delegating Directing
There are various quadrants which need to be examined which shows the interpretation of
issues in a prominent and effective manner. this analysis is going to be discussed as follows: Directing: This is a style used by the management team of the company in order to
provide directions to the employees by leaders. Furthermore, effective implementation is
required when the staff members have ineffective skills and knowledge in order to
conduct the activity. In the present context of Imperial Hotel, it is the style adopted and
executed by the business entity in which limited support is given to the in-house staff in
context of working with team and Spanish staff members. Coaching: According to this, guidance and direction is given by the leaders and support
them towards their demands and needs. This is best suited when the staff members are
high committed with their work but have lack of knowledge and skills. Delegating: Leader in this context delegates to the subordinates when staff members are
skilled but are lack committed towards their work. In the context of Imperial Hotel
delegates activities to the in-house as well as Spanish staff members, therefore, the
execution as well as leadership are required to mark the feature where task and work are
quite weak because of lack of encouragement (Salic and Zelic, 2018).
Supportive: It is when the hands-off approach is implemented by the leaders where less
direction as well as high support is given to the staff members in order to enhance the

satisfaction level of employees. this is the approach which could not be implemented with
the workplace of Imperial Hotel because the housekeeping staff requires direction on a
day to day basis in order to enhance their performance.
ANALYSIS TO ISSUE
Once the interpretation of issue is done, it is very essential to examine different causes
which are associated with the business organisation (Anderson and et. al., 2018). In the present
context of Imperial Hotel, it has been identified that there are some causes which might increase
the ineffective performance of the staff members in context of Standard Operating Procedures
(SOPS). Some of the most probable issues are going to be discussed as follows:
Management Perspective: Inappropriate Inspiration or motivation:
In reference to management, it has been identified that there is lack of encouragement in
context of in-house staff. The reason behind this is that within performance management system,
it is examined that the performance of Spanish Staff members is consistently higher, which is the
major reason of resentment with full time staff members of the business organisation. In spite of
hard work done by the staff members, employees earn less or minimum amount of incentive at
the end of month which reduces the motivation level and affect the overall performance. Apart
from this, it is said that on-the-job training is also given to the Spanish staff members but on the
other hand no future and growth opportunities is given by the managers of the company to the in-
house staff members. Furthermore, it is the cause which is related with high staff turnover within
the workplace which is another biggest problem face by the management team.
Lack of Teamwork:
Another noticeable phase which might cause issue and problem among the housekeeping
employees is lack of teamwork and corporation among the employees. As show in the above
information, it has been said that the Spanish staff members are very reluctant when managers
are asked to work with the in-house employees. In this context, skills, knowledge as well as
experience of two or more people are mixed together it will produce high quality goods and
services in order to satisfy the needs and wants of customers (Fleming, 2019). Due to lack of
teamwork or cooperation among the staff members, it will develop negative feelings among the
employees and creates ineffective performance within hospitality sector. Furthermore, it will

relate with the issue of poor and ineffective team work and coordination and create negative
working environment at the workplace.
Operational Perspective:
Autocratic Leadership:
As stated above, the business entity provides guidance, direction as well as minimum
support to workers within the workplace. This is due to duties are given to both In-house &
Spanish staff members together. However, the employees perform their task in groups & does 20
rooms in a single day, on the other hand almost 30 rooms are being done by the full time staff
members (Banfield, Kay and Royles, 2018). Along with this, managers do not provide any sort
of motivation to the staff members which is one of the mismanagement of the top management
authority. Furthermore, it is also linked with the issue of adverse working culture, which affect
the overall performance of the company in a negative manner. Ineffective Operational & Control Procedures:
Texlon System is mainly adopted by the management team of the company in order to
track the performance of staff members. However, it is a system which does not track the staff
members through their job roles. For example, the case study given shows that the consumers to
the management team of the company as they are not obedient and have ineffective behaviour of
the full time staff members, which not effectively managed by managers of the organisation.
Operational process within the business organisation like training, inspection, quality control is
not performed in an effective manner by the managers of the company and does not satisfy the
needs and requirements of the company.
Such examination of the issues delivers the statement that management as well as
leadership of is quite weak of the business entity which is associated with the statement that the
new manager has high preference to growing presentation levels of Spanish staff members.
Furthermore, the possibility of worker’s dissatisfaction is high when comes to in-house staff
members due to weak & ineffective management as well as leadership (Diklić, 2018).
SUMMARY & JUSTIFICATION

will help the organisation in doing their work in better manner. in the present context of Imperial
Hotel, it has been said that there are some effective measures which are needed by the

management team in order to ensure that there must be an enhancement in their current
processes. Therefore, a plan along with some strategies are going to be discussed as follows: Appraisal Systems: One of the effective method with the help of which performance of
an organisation can easily be increased is associated with providing effective and
prominent appraisal to the employees within the business organisation. This will assist
business organisation in order to examine and identify performance of their staff
members on the basis of quality, reliability as well as customer satisfaction. Along with
this, it will also fulfil all the needs of the staff members which will help them in doing
their job in more effective and efficient manner (Wilson, 2018). Teamwork: Apart from appraisal system teamwork aid in improving the performance of
staff members. With the aid of adopting effective communication system, managers will
be able to resolve their issues face by them. It is very essential to resolve disputes among
the staff members because of different nationalities of employees. it has also been
analysed that with the aid of effective collaboration among staff members due to
teamwork, employees will be more responsible and perform their work in an ethical
manner. this as a result satisfy the social need of employees by collaborating with their
staff members and get appreciation on a regular basis by the higher authority for their
hard work in order to complete the work.
Motivation: One of the essential strategy of the plan, is to motivate their staff members to
stay loyal, committed and engaged towards the company. This will be achieved by the
management team of Imperial Hotel with the help of applying different theories of
leadership within the workplace like Maslow's hierarchical theory. It has been analysed
that the business entity effectively provide full time job benefits to their staff members,
provide them cash and other benefits, appraisals, training and development opportunities,
which will satisfy the needs of employees and enhance their performance (Wright and
Coyne, 2018).
CONCLUSION

very essential role in the accomplishment of goals and objectives of the company. Along with
this it will aid managers in order to develop some plans and policies as per the objectives and
goals of the company. Apart from this it is also very essential that the data is interpreted by help
