a) Instance
Situation: Evacuation of staffs and customers from a venue
Describe the legal requirements set out by the relevant code/legislation that applies to this
situation
The legal codes of practices observed by the work health and safety act states that the
responsibility of the professionals handlingthe evacuation falls to the organizers of the
events. The primary aim of The WHS Act 43 clearly states the existence of a clearly
defined evacuation plan in case of any emergency.The PCBU must clearly have an
evacuation plan in place for the safety of the attendees or the staffs working in that place.
A procedure of emergency response must be put in place for the people to follow and the
plans for the evacuation must be stated at various locations of the building. The staffs
must be trained in theevacuationprocess. The emergency services must also be notified at
the earliest possible opportunity. The relevant authorities should have the proper
knowledge of the emergency evacuation plans. The plans for evacuation must be
approves by the relevant authorities and the rules and codes of practice outlines in the Act
must be observed.
Consultation Requirements: The Emergency Response Departments and the Authorities
Approving the plans for emergency evacuation should be approved prior to constriction if
the venue. The necessity of the consultation with the experts of the emergency procedures
should be consulted regularly and updated about any changes in the plans which should
be again approved by the authorities. The consultation is required to fully cover the
building and the venue .

Who is involved: the local authorities, the PCBUs, the employees, the staffs, the people
attending the venue are all involved in the emergency procedure. The functioning of the
emergency procedures should be coordinated by a person and the needs for the
involvement of the people in the emergency evacuation is also required for proper
execution of the emergency evacuation.
Risk assessment including Hazard Analysis – The risk analysis of the emergency situation
is required to apply the emergency procedures to be followed in the case of evacuation.
While it is mandatory for the venue to have multiple exits in case of emergency. But one or
more of them may not be operational due to the emergency. This information must be
analysed by the relevant personnel for the information to be distributed to assess the risk
of flowing of the emergency plans. The decisions taken by the securities must be based on
the risk analysis and the hazardous analysis to formulate an effective plan for evacuation.

b) Instance
Situation: Security management of cash, documents, equipments, keys and people

situation
The Act 19 clearly states that the procedures for handling and transportation of cash,
documents, equipments etc. must be observed for transportation during an emergency.
The safety procedures to be followed. The security provision might arise from the handling,
inefficiency of human element, violence of robberies and threats of loot etc. Thus, the need
for an effective rules and regulations is required to manage the security management of
the cash, documents, equipments etc. According to the Act, the workers associated with
the transportation of the cash and valuables must be trained in the safety procedures. The
handling and the processing should be dine following a specified protocol detailed in the
security management. The legal requirements include the risk assessment of the security
threats, the training and education of the professionals in the risk management and the
need for an efficient task procedures to be followed by the people associatedwith the
handling of the cash transportation.

Consultation Requirements: The need for the people handling the transportation of the
cash and valuables should coordinate with the local protection services. The information of
the transportation route and the alerting and f the security departments is required by the
safety needs. The people involved in the transportation of the cash and the documents
must safely assess the need for the safest route for transport and the requirement of the
efficient personnel for handling of the cash should be trained in the procedures of safety
precautions.
Who is involved: The emergency personnel, the cashier, theowner of the venue are
involved. The cashier is responsible for the immediate handling of the cash and all the
transactions required for the events and during the events. The emergency personnel are
responsible for the cash once emergency has been declared and the cash has been
locked and isolated for being taken out by the emergency protocol. Ultimately, the owner
of the cash is responsible for the safety of the cash.
Risk assessment including Hazard Analysis – The degree and the extent of the risks
needs to be analysed by the emergency personnel for determining the beat procedure for
cash, documents, keys and people evacuation. The safest procedure must be followed
which would be determined by an efficient analysis of the existent risks. The hazardous
substances poses significant risks to the loss of cash, essential documents, equipments
etc. So, the analysis of the risks posed by the hazardous materials is requires to device an
effective plan for transportation of cash, documents etc.

c) Instance
Situation: Handling Chemicals and hazardous substances

The Work Health and Safety Act 27, 28 and 29 states the regulations to be observed for
handling the hazardous chemicals and substances. The hazardous chemicals poses

significant threatsto life and property. The WHS Act 274 states that the duties of the
individual for identification and assessment of the risks regarding the handling of the
hazardous chemicals and substances. The responsibilities of the personnel for the
handling of the chemicals is identified and the responsibility of it is conferred on him. The
chemicals which poses sufficient risks should be labelled according to their degree of
toxicity and the handling procedures must be attached along with it. The safety data
sheets of the hazardous chemicals should be prepared and the a record of the chemicals
being used in the process must always be kept with the authorities.The PBBUs must
operate within the operating limit of the Guidance materials for health monitoring. The
need for observation and the criticalness of handling of such hazardous materials should
be trained and educated in the specifics. The prevention of the safety infringement should
be carefully noted and a regular inspection by the manager of the team should be carried
out to ensure a regular and rule following procedure for the handling of hazardous
chemicals and substances.
