Subject: Introduction of Lean Project Management Approach in the Consultancy
Introduction
This particular memo is directed to all the staffs of the consultancy, to inform them about
making use of Lean Project Management (LPM), in the consultancy. LPM can be described as a
concept that aims in delivering of a particular product by generation of less wastes. An effective
training is needed in order to understand and implement the approach of LPM in any
organization. The main purpose of this particular memo is to inform the staffs about the
implementation of LPM approach along with the purpose of introducing LPM within the
consultancy. It is observed that as per the future business plan of the consultancy, this particular
consultancy aims in undertaking government works (Tenera, & Pinto, 2014). However, one of
the foremost criteria of undertaking the government jobs involve execution and management of
the project by making use of LPM principles. Therefore, without adopting to the LPM principles,
the consultancy can never undertake the government jobs. The memo specifies the initial reasons
of implementation of LPM within the consultancy along with the specific benefits that the
consultancy can achieve by making use of this particular approach. The successful
implementation of CSFs within the consultancy involves keeping certain critical success factors
in place that will ensure effective adoption of LPM within the organization. The memo will
further discuss the training requirements that are to be in place in order to ensure that staffs of the
organization has adopted to LPM. The memo will be clarifying the training requirements needed
for the individual staffs and will assess whether the consultancy has been able to adopt to LPM
in an effective manner so that they can tender government works.
Purpose
The main purpose of this memo is to inform all the staff members regarding the
implementation of the LPM within the consultancy. The memo aims in discussing the initial
reasons that contributes to implementation of LPM within the consultancy. This section of the

memo will discuss about the benefits that can be achieved by the organization by making use of
LPM in the consultancy (Abu Bakar et al., 2015). This section of the memo further identifies the
Critical Success Factors or CSF are in place in order to achieve LPM in within the consultancy.
It is identified that the staffs are needed to be trained about the concept of LPM so that the
consultancy can implement LPM within the organization. Furthermore, it becomes integral to
ensure that the consultancy needs to adopt to the LPM approach sufficiently in order to tender for
the government work. The staffs are expected to understand the reasons behind implementing
LPM within an organization to ensure that the same has been adopted successfully. The adoption
of LPM within the organization would not be successful until the staffs of the organization
understands the importance of making use of LPM. The adoption of LPM within the
organization is expected to improve the value, flow and the perfection in the implementation
approach of the project. A detailed training is required for the staffs of the organization to
successfully adopt to the lean principle. The initial reasons of implementation of LPM, its
benefits and the critical success factors are indicated in the following sections. Furthermore,
there are certain factors that contributes to achievement of the successful implementation of
LPM. Certain steps are proposed that can help in ensuring whether the CSFs are in place.
Initial Reasons of Implementation LPM
The consultancy in which the LPM is needed to be implemented is in need of undertaking
government works. The consultancy cannot tender for government works until and unless they
know how to make use of LPM in implementation of a project. The Lean Project Management
approaches is used in organizations mainly to reduce the wastes related to the implementation of
the business (Leach, 2014). Therefore, it can be said that LPM can significantly help in enforcing
better management of the projects. LPM has a number of benefits which are needed to be
identified to ensure that the stakeholders can be benefited by the LPM. The major benefits that
the stakeholders can realize by implementation of LPM are indicated in the following
paragraphs.

Execution of the projects by making use of LPM approaches can significantly benefit the

consultancy. Effective implementation of the LPM further is beneficial for the stakeholders. The
stakeholders can achieve a number of business benefits by implementation of LPM. The greater
business efficiency is beneficial for the stakeholders as with the increase of business profitability,
the profit margin of the stakeholder increases as well (Orzen & Bell, 2016). The implementation
of LPM approaches within the organization is beneficial for the government as well. If the
consultancy will be able to adopt to the LPM principles, the government can choose the
consultancy to provide them with the responsibility of the project works to be implemented.
Therefore, it can be said that implementation of LPM within the consultancy can
significantly help in improving the ROI of the works undertaken (Rolstadås et al., 2014).
Adoption of LPM principles can significantly help in improving the quality of the tasks and the
projects undertaken and further increase the overall productivity of the organization (Tenera, &
Pinto,2014). Application of LPM principles in an organization may not be easy as it involves
understanding the basics of the approach and applying those principles in implementation of the
projects.
Another significant benefits of making use of LPM within the consultancy is that it
considerably reduces the cost of implementation of similar projects. Thus, a work of high quality
can be delivered by making use of LPM approaches and adopting to the LPM principles within
the organization. Thus, the implementation of LPM within the organization is quite beneficial in
delivering a work of higher quality and also for securing the government tenders. It is needed to
be understood that implementation of LPM within the organization needs effective training that
is to be provided to the staffs. It is expected that the staffs will provide their full consent in
undertaking the training that is related to implementation of LPM principles. Without the
support of the staffs of the organization, the implementation of LPM within the consultancy will
not be possible. Successful implementation of LPM within the organization will be beneficial for
the consultancy, government as well as the staffs of the organization and therefore, it is
anticipated that the adoption of LPM within the organization will be supported by the staffs.
However, the success of implementation of LPM is largely dependent on certain critical success
factors. Those critical success factors are needed to be in place to ensure that LPM is
successfully applied in the consultancy.

It is decided that the consultancy will be adopting to the LPM principles so as to tender
for the government works. It is being informed to all the staff members that the critical success
factors are to be in place so that LPM is successfully implemented in consultancy. One of the
major criterion behind the successful adoption of LPM within the organization is the consent of
the staffs to undertake the training program (Sohi et al., 2016). Identification of the critical
success factors in implementation of LPM within the consultancy can significantly help in
assessing whether the consultancy and its staffs have been successful in adopting to the LPM
principles.
LPM is being increasingly adopted by a number of organizations particularly because it
helps in keeping up to the competitive advantage of the company. LPM enables the organization
to deliver perfect products thereby helping in increasing the competitive advantage of a
company. Therefore, one critical success factors that contributes to the successful
implementation of LPM within the organization is the ability of the organization to handle the
perfect implementation of the products. The extent to which the consultancy has been able to
improve the process of project delivery can be termed as one of the major CSFs that is to be in

necessary to understand the benefits of LPM in order to identify the critical success factors that
can contribute to the successful adoption of LPM within the organization. The basic critical
success factors that can contribute to the successful implementation of LPM in the consultancy
are indicated as follows-
The consultancy staffs are needed to be committed to successful project
execution.
It is necessary for the organization to clarify the basic approach of implementation
of LPM to all its staffs (Tenera, & Pinto,2014). The clear understanding of the
resolution of implementation of CSF in the organization is another critical success
factor that will contribute to the successful execution of LPM in the project.

consultancy is to make use of effective holistic and transversal approach that can

Steps to Ensure that the CSF are in place
After identification of the CSF that can help in successful implementation of LPM within the
consultancy, it is essential to understand the process that can help in ensuring whether the
CSFs are in place (Tenera, & Pinto,2014). One of the basic needs of implementation of
LPM within the organization involves the interest of the staffs in making use of the LPM
approach within the organization. The mindset of the staffs needs to be adaptive to the
LPM within the organization. It is necessary for the consultancy to ensure that all the
staffs of the organization provide their consent in adoption of LPM within the
consultancy.
The process by which the LPM mindset can be incorporate within the consultancy staffs
are indicated as follows-
The staffs of the organizations needs to be trained about the benefits that they can

A structured training process will be designed that will enable effective
implementation of the training.
Another training requirement involves setting up of a realistic schedule that will

Methods of Accessing whether the consultancy has adopted LPM approach

consultancy in assessing whether the consultancy have been able to adopt to the LPM approach
are indicated as follows-
