1. Importance of using credible sources in academic research and writing
In order to complete a research in appropriate manner it is vital for researchers to use
credible sources from where accurate and best information can be gathered. If right resources are
used by learners for research purpose then it can result in a well formulated and effective
research which can guide observers to find solutions for their issues. As I am a tertiary learner so
it is also vital for me as well to utilise credible sources in my academic research and writing to
make sure that proper information is being used to complete it successfully. Such type of sources
are highly reliable and transparent that helps learners to enhance their academic skills and
knowledge related to research topic (Importance of credible sources, 2011). If there is not
credible evidence to the study then it will result in negative reaction of readers and unsatisfied
observers. In order to deal with such type of issues it is vital for me as well as other researcher
like me to to use credible sources for research. I am a tertiary learner and while working on a
specific I am required to make sure that all the sources that are used by me are accurate or not. I
am also required to analyse their trustworthiness so that I can make sure that my study is having
correct and relevant findings or not. It also helps to get insight in to the field which has been
selected for research by researcher. If I use credible sources or evidence based practices for my
study then it will result a proper, well formulated and appropriate research with transparent
findings.
2. Importance of using credible sources in career to shape professional practice
While planning to shape career it is very important for individuals like me to use credible
sources in my working so that it can help me to enhance my knowledge and skills that can
benefit me in future while planning for career. As currently I am a tertiary learner who gathers
information from different resources and use them to complete research which can guide
observers to find solutions or answers to their questions (Alt, Marshall and Lassen, 2016). If I
use credible sources for my research then it can help me in future to share professional practices
as it will have great knowledge regarding research topics which have been studied by me. It can
also help me to find best suitable career options for me to choose from and attain success in life.
While working in an organisation all people like me required high level information to deal with
dilemmas that affect work quality. If at initial level credible resources are used by me and other
researcher then it can help us to find way to deal with the challenge quickly as compare to others.
Using unreliable sources can result in improper knowledge which is not good for my career. In

future it will be more important for researchers to use credible sources to find answers for their
research questions because their research will be studied by other in order to enhance their own
knowledge. In order to accomplish all tasks that are assigned by top level executives it is vital for
me to have experience and skills that are required to complete them. Such type of skills can be
built by me in my college and school by using proper and appropriate sources in my research
work.
3. Comparison of relative merits of two sources about the topic
In order to get information to understand a topic related to academic concepts, a person
can use various credible or online sources. It includes journals, scholarly articles, books,
magazines, newspapers and more (Basford, Offermann and Behrend, 2014). Here, through online
sources they can obtain information in more specific manner as well as analyse various
viewpoint of professionals, to enhance academic skills. For career development in management
field, I have taken a topic as “To analyse the role of interpersonal skills in managing the
workforce”. To get adequate amount of information from credible sources, I have used two
main sources- one from journal article and other one is Investopedia. The reason behind
choosing these two sources is to check credibility of both and determine which one is more
credible.
Here, article which is chosen describes the author's point of view where I can identify
who is author and what he wants to state. While the another chosen source is Investopedia which
is considered as most authenticate website of UK. It provides most efficient and adequate
amount of information, along with reviews of other researchers. Therefore, in terms of reliability,
it has evaluated that Investopedia is more credible than journal articles. This would help me in
analysing the viewpoint, getting reviews and rating of organisations through official websites.
Therefore, this site has helped me in analysing the importance of interpersonal skills for
managing workforce more specifically. While, journal articles also provide adequate amount of
information on same topic, but it fails to show reliability of the same. Along with this,
Investopedia source also shows updated time of information, which provide benefits to tertiary
learners about which period of time, they want to explore data to devise a subject (Hardalov,
Koychev and Nakov, 2016). In this regard, from one of the website of Investopedia, I have
analysed that interpersonal skills influences culture of workplace as it affect job performances. It
includes way of interaction with colleagues, effective communication skills, attitude and more.

Therefore, such type of skills cannot possessed through academic classes. While article given by
Soteris Phoraris, demonstrates the importance of such skills for navigating the workplace as well
as tips to develop career of a person in a same field. In this regard, the difference between data
obtained from both sites is related to reliability because scholarly articles provide just basic
information from researchers' point of view (Hotchkiss and et.al., 2015). Whereas, as comparison
Investopedia provides updated information after carry out proper investigation and getting
reviews of professionals on its authenticate websites.
