In Christian ministry, holy spirit and their gift are highly important as it enables to guide
and direct and to get purpose in life. In order to come up with an appropriate outcome, there are
different type of research methodologies that are being used and these enable to make sure that
the research is conducted in effective manner. Secondary research is taken into consideration.
This will be helpful enough to provide in depth understanding for the research topic.
In accordance with the finding, it is identified that gift of holy spirit is important for the

INTRODUCTION
Holy spirit is the third person of the Trinity. As per the Christian beliefs, there is one
God, in which there are three persons, they are Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. In other words,
Holy Spirit is the God's power in action. According to Bible, there are different places in which
Holy Spirit is mentioned 1. To perform any type of work, it requires support of Spirit who can be
guide and protect one self from getting into trouble. In the Bible, it is mentioned that there are
seven gifts of Holy Spirit which are understanding, wisdom, counsel, knowledge, fortitude, piety
and fear of Lord. Further, it includes fruits of Holy Spirit which are love, joy, patience, kindness,
faithfulness, self-control, goodness, gentleness and peace. Further, it also includes the spiritual
gift that one receives with the help of Holy Spirit. In this context, different Prophets have given
different set of spiritual gifts. According to 1 Peter 4:11, it includes gifts like whoever speaks and
whoever renders services. Further, according to Ephesians 4:11, gifts are apostle, evangelist,
teacher, pastor and prophet. Moreover, as per 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, gifts are faith, miracles,
word of knowledge, word of wisdom, prophecy, gifts of healing, tongues, distinguishing between
spirits and interpretation of tongues2. In addition to this, as per Romans 12:6-8 gifts of spirit are
serving, prophecy, exhortation, mercy, leadership and teaching. Present report determine the
importance for the gift of holy spirit in Church Ministry.
Further, aim and objectives are helpful enough to develop path on which it can be
achieved. With this respect, below given are the aim and objectives of the present research paper:
Aim: To understand the importance of the Gift of the Holy Spirit in Church Ministry.
Objectives:
 To understand the different gifts of the Holy Spirit.
 To determine the importance of the Gift of the Holy Spirit in Church Ministry.
 To analysis the misconceptions that Church Ministry has about the Holy Spirit.
 To recommend ways through which gifts of Holy Spirit can be possessed.

Methods
This is an important aspect that enables to present the research in effective manner. With
this respect, there are different type of techniques and method that are included in this and it
enables to present the information effectively and efficiently. In this context, below given are the
tools that fall under methods:
Research philosophy: This is a process that enables to determine the ways with the help
of which information is examined, collected and analysed. Further, it also enables to provide
proper data and in selecting the relevant sources that will help in determining the aim and
objectives3. Further, it also helps to come up with appropriate outcome as results. These are of
two types which are interpretivism and positivism. Among these, positivism is a type of research
that focus on the objectives that are being set by the research. On the other hand, interpretivism
aims at determining the subjective part of the study. Among these investigator will make use of
positivism as it enables to focus on the objectives more and thus appropriate outcome can be
derived.
Research design: It is determined to be the blue print of the research. It enables to
understand the systematic way that will be followed by the research with the help of which
further, it also enables to prepare outline through which the ways are determined that enable to
conduct the research in effective manner4. There are three different types they are exploratory,
experimental and descriptive. Among these types, researcher will make use of descriptive
research design. This is a type of research design which focus on the theoretical aspect of the
objectives that are being set by the researcher.
Research approach: It is a type of research enables to determine the research can be
conducted from specific to general or general to specific. Both their own importance and these
are helpful to consider the and to carry out the research in effective manner. These are of two
type which are deductive and inductive. Deductive approach focus on making the research
present from general to specific. In other words, it considers and enables to carry out the research

Among these two research will make use of inductive approach.
Research strategy: For the researcher there are some important strategy and techniques in
relation to accomplish aim and objectives. There are two type of research strategy tool that is
qualitative and quantitative which can be used by researcher in respect to carry out whole
research in an effective manner5. In the present research researcher will use qualitative tool
because it considers as one of the effective strategy for finding out the subjective idea of current
research topic. Therefore, adopting this research technique is very effective for scholar in order
to undertake various theoretical model.
Data collection: In accordance with this method, there are two different type of method
with the help of which information can be collected. In this context, it includes primary and
secondary information. Among these two primary is a type of research is gathered for the first
time. It includes questionnaire, interview, observation, etc. On the other secondary information is
gathered with the help of books, journals, articles, etc. When compared with these two researcher
will make use of secondary information6. For this respect, it will consider in which books,
journals, articles, online websites, etc. will be considered.
Data analysis: This is a type of method in which all the information which is collected is
being analysed and it enables to make sure that appropriate outcome is determined. All the data
that is gathered through secondary information needs to be properly evaluated and this is done so
that investigator comes up with suitable outcome for the collected data.
Results
In accordance with the findings, it can be stated that holy spirit play vital role in spiritual
development of individuals and they get to have direct interaction with God. According to Chan,
Simon (2015) it is important for individuals to wait in order to get holy spirit. As per Luke 24,
When Jesus promised for the holy spirit, then the first think that was told to disciples was to
wait7. As per Christians, it is impossible to follow God unless one is being led by Holy spirit.

Further, the only way with the help of which Spirit id to follow the commands that are given by
God. For example, when a person is drunk with alcohol or wine, then he/she is consumed and
controlled by alcohol. On the other hand, individuals who is drunk in spirit is consumed and
controlled by Spirit. The Spirit entered a person when he/she decides that they have decided to
give their life to Christ. When spirit enters, then it enables to develop their individual
understanding and gets to fill themselves with the spiritual gift8. However, it is received only
when there is God's will. When there is God's will, then he commands spirit to showers their
gifts upon them. In this modern world, there are different type of people who try to manipulate
and tent others to sin. When one sin's, then the grace of God is lost. In such condition it is
important to make sure that there is proper support of spirit so that one will be able to
differentiate between right and wrong. More specifically, as per John 16:8, Jesus refers Spirit to
be counsellor who will guide for day to day activities. However, it is important to low down the
burden of sin so that the Christian Ministry will be able to life a Godly life.

There are different type of gifts that one receives when there is presence of Holy Spirit.
In this context, spiritual gifts includes the following:
Word of Wisdom: In accordance with this gift Christians see a prophetic like function. On the
other hand, people a teaching function in word of wisdom. In addition, to this, it is closely
related with word of knowledge. Word of knowledge: This is often determined to be the ability of a person to understand
God will for the person9. Further, it can also be defined to know the secrets that is kept by
others in their heart. Faith: It is the trust that individuals develop on God for the plan that he has for individual
lives. Gift of healing: This can be determined to be the supernatural enablement that is given
for different type of healing with the help of holy spirit. Miracles: It is a type of event that is not explicable by scientific or natural laws.

 Prophecy: This is gift of spirit that enables one to predict the future. Distinguishing between spirits: In this gift, one get to know whether a teaching or spirit is
not evil or false. Tongues: It is a form of glossolalia in an individual experiences religious ecstasy utters
incomprehensible sounds that are spoken by the person by a deity.
 Interpretation of tongues: This is conjunction with the gift of tongues. Individuals with
the gift of tongue need not know the meaning of words that are said by him/her10. With
this respect, the person who has gift of interpretation of tongues can translate.
As per Christian beliefs, each member of the ministry is given with spiritual gift at
salvation. All the members with spiritual gift work for the growth of Church. Further, through
the gifts, God has shown his love and when an individual has all the spiritual gift then he/she
does not need any other members. When gift of spirit is neglected, then it diminishes the
Church's effectiveness. In other words, when one does not accept or obedient the spiritual gift of
God, then they neglect the work of grace that God shows on their lives11. Further, when a person
is dissatisfied with the spiritual gift, then they will have the same gift and the role in the body
will also remain same. In addition to this, gift of spirit provide direction and purpose in life.
When love of God is demonstrated through gifts, then one can experience personal fulfilment
and great joy. The maturity level also increases and the understanding that is developed on God
also enhances.
Further, there are different type of misconceptions on the gift of the holy spirit. With this
respect, it includes concepts like spiritual gifts ended with the Apostles12. However, it was after
certain period of time when Churches believed that the gift are for every one who live a godly
life. Further, there are beliefs that the gift are only for those who are preachers, or workers of
church. All the people who believe God and live a life as per the commandment given can get

From the research, it can be stated that gift of holy spirit is for those who devote their
lives to God and live a spiritual life. It enables to develop a strong understanding for the God and
spirit guides in order to know the purpose of life.
