What does research tell us about the importance of engaging students
in science classrooms?
Science is a subject which is directly linked to the life of students; it is universally
applicable and develop problem solving skills in learners. Another significance of teaching
science is that it promotes critical thinking among pupils. This world is facing many
problems and parallelly growing with the higher pace. Students may not like this subject
because of the general perception that it is difficult but science has potential to develop
lifelong skills in children (Kennedy and Odell, 2014). It allows them to generate ideas and
teach them to take decisions intelligently. If more learners will engage in science classrooms
then human resource in forthcoming time we will better in terms of both imagination and
knowledge. Innovation will run this world in upcoming time; if students will learn science
from their schools then they will go to college for further studies and they can get involve in
research & development field.
Beside these skills, this subject teaches learners about managing scarcity of resource.
Natural science provides information about how human’s life is affected by nature and how
diminishing resource can be saved for future generation. Students, especially in school one,
have better catching power. If these thoughts will enter in their mind then they will try to find
solution of complicated problems along with assuring that environment do not get affected by
different acts of human. Science will not only make learner employable; it will also teach
children about how they can become a better human being. If more students will join science
classrooms then it will be better for humankind.
