AI Summary
This thesis proposal explores the application of mind mapping as a strategy to enhance the understanding and effectiveness of ICT flowcharts for academic students. It addresses the limitations of traditional ICT flowcharts, such as complexity and difficulties in modification, proposing online mind map tools like MindMup as a solution. The proposal outlines aims and objectives, including presenting challenges faced by students, summarizing improvement strategies, and examining the proposed solution. Research questions investigate ways to improve flowchart complexities, reasons for student misunderstandings, and the advantages of online mind map tools. A literature review supports the use of mind maps for enhancing productivity, creativity, and memory. The study will employ a mixed-method design, collecting secondary data from peer-reviewed journals and primary data from participants using online mind map tools, analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques.

2MIND MAPPING
Introduction
ICT flow chart diagrams are increasingly used by the academic students to
understand the workflow or a procedure of a project (Al Shdaifat, Al-Haq & Al-Jamal,
2019). Most of the visual activities can be understood by the academic with the help of the
mind-mapping tools. It is one of the easiest ways for the academic students to learn about
ICT.
Problem Statement
There are numerous limitations related with the ICT flow charts which are used by the
academic students such as complexity, time consuming process, difficulty in modification
and difficulty to update. The other problem of the ICT flow chart is the valid rules and
regulations of creating the flow charts. The concept of the flowchart is sometimes
misunderstood by the academic students as well. Thus, this thesis proposal shall be looking
forward to recognize the effectiveness of using mind-mapping approach to address the
challenges of ICT flowchart models
Proposed solution
The challenges related with the ICT flowchart model such as the understanding the
correct concept of flowchart can be resolved using online mind map tools like mindmup
(MindMup, 2020).
Aims and objectives
The aims and objectives of the thesis proposal are as followings:
To present the challenges faced by academic students while studying with ICT flow
chart diagrams.
Document Page
3MIND MAPPING
To summarize the strategies required to improve the ICT flowchart model.
To examine the proposed solution to address the challenges faced by students while
studying with ICT flowcharts.
Research Questions
The research questions of the thesis proposal are as followings:
What are the ways to improve the complexities of the ICT flowchart model?
Why does students fails to understand the concept of flowchart?
What are the advantages of using online mind map tools?
Literature Review:
According to Vijayavalsalan (2016), productivity and creativity of the academic
students can be enhanced in the first place using mind map tools. The journal specified that
the deployment of the mind-mapping strategy can be very is very much beneficial for the
identification of relationships between two set of data. The researchers highlighted that the
goals of the entire study has to be understood by the students before they start using the tool.
On the other hand, as elaborated by Al Shdaifat, Al-Haq & Al-Jamal (2019), concept of the
students must be absolutely clear about the usage of mind maps. The organic lines of the
mind-mapping tools are clear to the students so that the purpose of using this online tool is
achieved. Al-Zyoud, Al Jamal & Baniabdelrahman (2017), highlighted that generation of new
ideas are supported by these tools. The journals helped in understanding that improvement
of the memory is the other major contribution of the mind maps.
Mixed method design
Secondary data will be collected from peer reviewed journals and primary data will be
collected from the participants of the online mind map tools. This thesis proposal shall be
