AI Summary
This report presents a research methodology to analyze how Instagram can improve its user experience. It outlines a descriptive research design employing a deductive approach, focusing on the collection and analysis of primary data through a survey of 42 Instagram users. The data collection involved a questionnaire with demographic and quantitative questions about user experience, features, and satisfaction. The collected data was analyzed statistically using Excel, with results presented through graphs and charts. Key findings from the survey indicate that users value privacy settings, improved ad preferences, and the ability to download individual photos. The report concludes that modifications to these functionalities can significantly enhance user experience. The expected outcome of the research is to provide insights into how Instagram can enhance user satisfaction and engagement through targeted improvements.

Research Methodology
Introduction
Research Methodology outlines the key processes and the techniques that can be
considered to analyze specific information needed to successfully complete a study. Research
methodology enables a researcher to design an effective technique of collection and analysis of
data (Kumar 2019). The methodology further evaluates the overall validity and reliability of the
study. The undertaken study aims in evaluation of the processes in which Instagram can improve
its user experience. The study involves collection and analysis of primary data to evaluate the
overall reliability of the study. In the following sections, the methods chosen for analysis and the
expected outcome of the study is discussed.
1. Research Methodology and Description
The undertaken study involves the use of primary data. The details of the proposed
methodological tools for collection and analysis of the data are indicated in the following
sections-
1.1. Proposed Research Design
The research design provides an idea of the framework of the research methods and
techniques that are chosen by a researcher to fulfil the key research objectives. Clear
identification of the research design outlines the type of research that is needed to be
implemented to find answers to the identified research problems.

3METHODOLOGY
The proposed design chosen for the study is descriptive research design. The descriptive
research design aims in accurate and systematic description of a particular situation or
phenomenon (Antwi and Hamza 2015). The descriptive design involves collection of data
mainly through the methods which include observational methods, case study method and survey
method. This particular study aims in analysis of “How Instagram can improve its user
experience” and for that the method of survey is used. The descriptive research design is justified
for the study as primary data is collected for the study. The use of survey as a tool of data
gathering justifies the use of descriptive research design.
1.2. Proposed Research Approach
A deductive philosophy is proposed for the study. Deductive approach is proposed for the
study as it explores a known theory or phenomenon (Zalaghi and Khazaei 2016). As the study
aims in analyzing the process in which Instagram improve the user experience, the use of
deductive philosophy for the study is justified (Gray 2019). The study involves the use of
primary data and therefore the choice of deductive approach is justified. Deductive approach
involves formulation of research hypothesis and this study will involve testing of the hypothesis
(Gough and Richardson 2018.). Therefore, the choice of this study is justified.
2. Proposed Method of Data Collection and Interpretation
In the following section, the proposed method of collection and interpretation of the data
needed for the research is proposed.

4METHODOLOGY
The research involves collection of primary data. A research study mostly involves
collection of either primary data or secondary data or both (Hair 2015). The primary data
involves collection of data from the individuals having firsthand knowledge about the research
subject. The secondary data on the other hand is collected from the existing sources such as
books and research journals. This particular study is undertaken to analyze the process in which
Instagram can improve the user experience (Peersman 2014). Therefore, the use of secondary
data for this study is not useful. Primary data is opted to be collected for the study
There are primarily three methods of collection of primary data, which include survey,
observation and interview. In this study, the method of survey is proposed. A survey has been
conducted with 42 people to collect first hand data. The respondents are the users of Instagram.
Therefore, the collected data can be considered as valid and reliable.
The collection of primary data will involve use of a survey questionnaire involving both
demographic and quantitative questions. A total of 26 questions are designed for this purpose.
The questions are based on the users’ experience, different features of the Instagram and users’
satisfaction.
Sampling: The respondents chosen for data collection are shortlisted on basis of a random
sampling method. All the respondents chosen for the study are Instagram users and they have an
experience of using both mobile and desktop version.
2.2. Data Interpretation
The collected data from the survey will be analyzed statistically using excel spreadsheet.
The data will be represented using graphs and charts. A quantitative data analysis method is

proposed for this particular study. The choice of quantitative data collection method is justified
as it involves use of quantitative data collected from the survey.
3. Expected Outcome of the Survey
A survey has been conducted that provides an idea of the expected outcome of the study.
According to the data obtained from the survey, it is observed that 73.8% of the respondents
make use of Instagram for personal use while the rest use as a business account. Since majority
of the users make use of Instagram for personal use, it was possible to collect valid data about
user experience. The data obtained from the survey further indicate that the desktop version is
less commonly used and the option of hiding likes is not at all satisfactory. However, the option
of privacy setting for the individual posts is most valuable and the data is indicated as follows-
Figure 1: Response about Privacy Setting
Another important findings is that the feature of “improving the add preference or a
complete add free feature significantly improves users’ satisfaction and is a valuable factor to
increase users’ experience.

Figure 2: Responses about Improve ad Preferences
The survey result further indicate that the ability of downloading individual photos
instead of taking screen shots is a factor that can enhance users’ experience.
Figure 3: Responses about ability to download individual Pictures
When the respondents were asked whether they would prefer the option of premium
account, 54.7% of the respondents replied in positive while the rest replied in negative.

The response of the survey indicates that the users’ experience can be improved by
bringing in modification in certain basis functionalities of Instagram. The proposed research
method is expected to contribute to finding out the process in which Instagram can improve its
user experience.
