In this era, having skills is necessary to meet everyday challenges faced in life. The changes that
took place globally force everyone to gather more information and force them to be more skilled.
Students are not out of it. To sustain, they must need to be skilled. This is the era of competition.
People are getting used to the competition. Similarly, students are trying to be skilled in school
or universities in their writing and reading, and so on. This topic is about student’s writing and
reading skills (Wardani, 2020). This topic includes how students can increase their reading and
assignment writing skills. This report includes some strategies to develop reading skills and some
strategies to develop assignment writing skills which will increase the adaptability of a student.
So, these topics are important for a student for their progress.

Strategies to improve reading ability
When students are in school, college, or university, they have to do a lot of assignments.
Sometimes they have to make a report based on a case. To do this they have to read the whole
case properly which is not possible without reading skill (Roskos and Neuman, 2014). There are
so many strategies that help a student to develop his or her reading skills. This report includes
those strategies. They are given below:
Predicting content
Predicting content is the strategy by which readers can predict what is the topic after seeing any
picture or diagrams or heading of the case. Good students make a prediction when they read. To
make himself familiar with the topic student first need to see pictures and diagrams allocated in
the topic (Miftah, 2015). They have to imagine what is included in the topic after seeing the
picture and headings of the topic. They have to check what they know about the topic. Students
also predict using text clues and their own experiences. Predicting helps a student to think
actively about the topic. It also helps the students to make sure about the topic and create a
connection between what they read and what they think about the topic.
Signposting language
Signposting language is the phrases and words which help a reader or listener to go through a
story. It helps the reader to know the consequence of a story. For example, At the starting of this
report, it has been said that “This topic is about student’s writing and reading skills”. Here this
sentence helps the reader understand what the topic is about. Similarly, the words and phrases
like firstly, secondly, then, for example, additionally, and so on. Signposting language like a map
which shows routes how to go through the topic and it relates a sentence with another sentence.
It will also help a reader to route how to write according to the story. So, when students are about
to write based on what they read. So, it’s necessary to understand the story. A story includes lots
