Research design

Research philosophy
Research philosophy is the first layer of the research onion. It deals with the process
of data collection data interpretation and data analysis (Hughes and Sharrock 2016). This
layers of the research opinion is used to reflect the assumptions of the authors about the
overall research plan they are adapting. According to Creswell and Clark (2017), there are
numerous types of research philosophies like epistemology, ontology and axiology. Each
view of the research philosophies is associated with different types of research philosophies
like positivism, realism, interpretivism and pragmatism. In this research, the author will use
make use of the pragmatism research philosophy which helps to establish the relationship

the results for the whole population. For this research, locally advanced nursing professionals
of Saudi Arabia will be selected for the interview.
Qualitative Interview Sample
The sample size of the research is 25 locally advanced nurse practitioners who have
supervised the support groups in the antenatal care unit in Saudi Arabia.
Sampling strategy
The process of sampling is defined as a process of selection of the subset cases from
the total number of units in order draw the generalised conclusions for the entire body of
units. If the population is large, it becomes difficult for the authors study the entire population
(Palinkas et al. 2015). To reduce the total expenditure and time, a sample size of 25 was
selected for this research. The main sampling procedure used for this research includes
probability sampling. The probability sampling is associated with the experimental type
research design and provides every participant an equal opportunity to get selected for the
research. This helps to reduce the selection bias (Emerson 2015). The criteria that is used for
the selection of the sample population include:
(i) Age group: 25 to 45 years

Development of Questionnaire (open-ended questions)
For the development of open-ended questions, the previously published literatures
were cited and after the generation of the question, the sequence of the question is further
arranged.
Reliability and Validity of the Interview
In order to examine the reliability and validity of the interview process, two nurse
managers with experience of more than 5 in the antenatal care were selected and they were
asked to give their personal feedbacks about the structure, sequence and the pattern of the
questions. Based on their feedbacks, further modifications in the questionnaire were done.
The nurse managers selected were blinded about the scope of the study (Noble and Smith
2015).
Data collection
The collection of data will be done by face-to-face interview and the entire interview
process will be recorded in the audio-recorder. In interview process, audio-recorder is
regarded as the main instrument for data collection. Moreover, face-to-face semi-structured
interview with open-ended questions helps the participants to illustrate their though process
in an explicit manner (Ranney et al. 2015).
Data analysis
The recorded audio file was transcribed into a written format and then content
analysis was done based on the significant statements highlighted in the interview. The
responses were studied thematically and the emergent themes is subsequently categorised
