INTRODUCTION
Child care is also known as early childhood education and care. Basically this industry is
developed for the children aged up to 5 years along with the care of primary school age children.
In Australia, options of child care have been analysed which include home based care, centre
based care, family day care, business related crèches and outside school hours care. Any family
can select any care on the basis of their own circumstances and values. This report is based on
the child care industry. This report include the brief discussion on legal and ethical
considerations for reviewing and improving the practices of an individual, modes and processes
of professional reflection, professional development opportunity, principles and technique. In
addition to this, it also include types of work method for improving performance along with the
learning style.
TASK 1
Workplace task
As I have chosen the job role of Child Care. I have to attend to the basic needs of
children, such as dressing, feeding, and overseeing play. I am responsible for helping the
younger children preparing them for kindergarten or assist older children with homework. Below
mentioned are some of my duties which I have to perform during my job:
Childcare workers typically do the following:
Supervise and monitor the safety of children
Prepare and organize mealtimes and snacks for children
Help children keep good hygiene
Change the diapers of infants and toddlers
Organize activities or implement a curriculum that allows children to learn about the
world and explore their interests
Develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity,
rest, and playtime
Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring potential
problems to the attention of parents or guardians.

Several information have been shared among the peers and assessor through meeting with
the parents. Many meetings have been scheduled in which the entire discussion regarding the
information and any problem have been done. It is necessary for both assessor as well as peers to
attend the meeting and discuss regarding the particular information. Some time, it happens that
someone is not able to attend the meeting. This information sharing activity can be improved by
the introduction of technology in it. By arranging these activities virtually, they can save time.
Along with this, by showing videos and pictures virtually, they can also improve the information
sharing activities.

As per the health and safety legislation, an individual conducting a business or undertaking
as the duty of care for maintaining he healthy and safe work place. Employers are legally obliged
for insurance the workers that they are able to carry out their work safely and without risk to
their health. This legislation basically provides responsibility on managers, workers and
supervisors. Below mentioned is the PCBU duty of care:
Ensuring safe systems of work
Insuring safe use of equipment structures and substances
Providing safe and hygiene working environment
Providing adequate information training instruction and supervision.
Providing the correct system which can be used for monitoring the health of workers and
workplace conditions.
Models and processes of professional reflection
CARL model of reflection
It is also known as CARL technique which is considered as a framework which is used
for professional analysis and improvement which focus on the context of a past experience,
action that were taken, result that occurred along with the lessons that were learned. This
framework has been used by the individuals for providing descriptions for there each element. It
do not include any further planned actions as the other techniques required. Journey this fruit
technique focus on the belief that the actions of identifying new lessons and learning experience
by their own.

There are several other methods and processes of reflection such as Gibbs reflective
cycle, Boud's triangular representation, John's Model of Structured Reflection, Atkins and
Murphy model and many more.
Through analyzing the conversations among the individuals and supervisors, the John's
Model have been developed. This model is based on the previously established patterns of
knowing including self awareness, ethics or moral knowledge, this is knowledge and many more.
In simple words it can be said that John's model works for establishing the connection with the
past experience.
Professional development opportunities in childcare
Professional development can be defined as the constant learning activities or practice which
focuses on the improvement of professional activities. Several of growth opportunities comes in
the form of formalized training. This training provide the several professional growth
opportunities to the child care workers. It has been analysed that it is necessary to develop a
formal training environment as it leads to the professional development. An individual can gain
the training for child care worker in the form of college courses, workshops and webinars. All of
these traditional forms of training include single day event. Support is essential for the
development of individual in the child care industry as it works as training for them. All the early
childhood educators have to develop in formal reflect on their own activities as it helps them in
identifying the needs of professional development.
Principles and techniques for measuring progress and performance
Below mentioned are the ways or modes for measuring and evaluating the progress and
performance of childcare workers: Graphic rating scales: A graphic scale have been used with the sequential number like 1
to 5 or 1 to 10. These ratings have been done on the basis of their performance. 360 degree feedback: through feedback, the childcare workers will get to know about the
opinions of clients. It'll help the workers to work on their weaker section so that they can
receive positive feedback.
Checklist: Through the use of simple yes and no checklist is found as the best and easy
method of identifying the progress and performance of child care worker. It helped them
in identifying their skills and the requirement of training and knowledge which help with
them in becoming more efficient.

performance of child care workers: Setting the right expectations: Sometimes the workers are confused regarding what they are
required to be done in their new job profile and what is the expectations of employer. Hence,
by setting the correct expectations of workers student improvement of their overall
performance. Explaining expectations result in the improvement in the productivity of
employees.
Setting Milestone and goals: By setting a goal so to be achieved in the next coming time. It
help the child care workers to meet the deadlines and perform their operations in an
organised and structured form. Having a while structure milestone or planner helped ammo
to be more affective with their time.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that it is necessary for child care workers to develop
their skills in a formal way through training. It works as the growth opportunity for the workers
as It helped them in developing their skills through the traditional modes. This report also
describes the refractive model as well. There are several modes or techniques of measuring and
evaluating the performance and progress of childcare workers. In addition to this, there are
several modes through which the performance of individual can be improved. Learning style of
child care workers in different from the other individuals.
