Introduction
This argumentative essay depicts that how the democracy can be improved in democratic states
of Australia. Democracy means that the country is ruled by the people. The democratic country
is one where the decisions are made by the majority of votes and the affairs of the city are
subjected to assembly. The assembly of Greek democracy includes only men while the women
and slaves are excluded. Australia’s system of government grew from time to time representing
the British Parliament to fully elected representative democracy. It has been a great leader in
democracy as it introduced the secret ballot.

About Democratic Environment
In the political system of Australia, the people who are eligible vote for the appropriate
candidates to carry out the business on their behalf. This system defines various values which
include freedom of election and assembly, freedom of speech and political participation and rule
of law (Kilcullen, 2012).

Point of discussion
How do democratic states imagine their democracy?
According to the survey conducted many of the people of the democratic states were asked
questions about the Australian politics and the role which they play in keeping democracy work.
The results showed that the citizens are observers rather than participants in the formal politics
without the influence of the federal level of government (EVANS et al.). There is the evidence
that the citizens of the country showed a negative attitude towards the politics and the politicians
who are involved in decision making with that of experts and business people. Findings also
indicate that if there could be different politics on offer than citizens could cope up with the more
extended role. In this, we argue that an effective path is not to choose between the representative
and the participatory democratic models but bring arrangements between them.
How different social groups approach democratic politics?
The answer to this question is a complex picture. By the negative attitude of subsection citizens
of Australia, it can be stated that the older citizens who are age of 65 years or more are more

likely to have less negative attitude then younger ones who vote to select the appropriate
representatives. Stealth attitude does not mean being powerless since it can be seen that those
who can make the difference to their local area more likely as compared to others who hold
stealth attitude (EVANS et al.).
What do Citizens dislike about politics?
In the survey, citizens were asked about their dislikes related to the politics in their country. It
was found that politicians are more likely to talk rather than taking the action related to their
principles. Stealth feature of democracy sees politics as an unpleasant feature as its time
consuming and leads to corruption in the country (Kilcullen, 2012). In the finding, it was
suggested that the many of the Australian citizens believe strongly in the stealth decisions and
put it at parallel level with other democracies. The questions related to the economic growth and
social changes were also asked as compared to that of the experience of the other countries
(Kilcullen, 2012).
Could Citizens be involved in Politics if the structure is changed?
This question was asked to analyze that how many more of the citizens will be engaged in the
politics. According to the survey evidence, it was predicted that the most of the citizens do not
get engaged in the politics especially in voting which is particularly true for the youngsters.
Many of the citizens have negative views about the work of the politics but if the structure will
be changed then more of the individual will involve in the voting (Kilcullen, 2012). Most of the
citizens also believe that businessman and the experts cannot run the country than the elected
politicians. Australian citizens are keen to involve in the decision-making process through voting
if the election will be done on the fair basis. Australians can approve the set of the sophisticated
understanding of how the political process is supposed to work in the country.

Thesis Statement
Democracy means rule by the law which is the worst form of government as compared with all
other political systems (The Conversation, 2011). A better system has to be adopted to organize
the politics and the society. Few ways in which the democracy can be improved in democratic
states are:
 The power of the politicians should be limited in the better way. They should not have
the right to raise their salaries and legislate on retirement (The Conversation, 2011).
Therefore, the politicians should not have the right in the financial aspect of the country.
 Voters and the representatives should be educated in the better way to ensure that all the
voters have the access to the information which they require. This can only be done if the
fair and balanced way has been adopted.
 All kind of special privileges should be eliminated which are afforded to the authorities
and the government workers. Few exceptions must be granted such as risk concerns and
they should all alter their work as the common man does.
 Time taken by the law should be shorter and simple. As layers and politicians have to
deal with the law so if the time involved will be more the decisions will also lapse (The
Conversation, 2011).
 Democracy should have simple court processes to ensure the fair and fast court decisions.
The cases in the court should end in weeks, not in years.
 Innovative ways should be adopted to reduce the power of the politicians from industrial-
military complex to the taxi driver unions (Rose, 2018).
 Direct voting should not be done to elect the President which in turn will enhance the
quality of the process which has been followed.
 Extremes should be avoided as the welfare state is as harmful as lassez fair to the market
economy. Limitations of the human nature should be considered to avoid extreme traps.
 Politics should not be considered as the full-time job or the carrier (Rose, 2018). The
politicians should work for the particular period and then again return back to their
normal lives. Thus, before getting a chance to serve all the candidates of the country the
leaders or politicians should pass a basic proficiency test related to their future work.

 Laws should be enforced which stops the election fraud as it is the basic factor which
betrays the election commission of the country (Rose, 2018).
These are some of the ways which will help to improve the democracy of the democratic states
of Australia. If these ways will be adopted by the political system of Australia then the
democracy of the democratic states will be enhanced.

Conclusion
It can be concluded that to improve the democracy in the democratic states various
improvements needs to be done so as to attain the economic growth. A survey has been
conducted by asking the questions to the citizens of Australia about the democracy and what
changes need to be implemented. Democracy means that the country is ruled by the law which
states that the politicians in the country are elected by the majority of the votes of the candidates.
So, in the democratic country, the representatives are elected by the male practionary and the
female does not have the right to vote in the elections.
