For carrying out a research, it is necessary for an individual or researcher to possess
specified skills as it will enable them within gathering, analysing as well as conducting the
research as per desired standards and attain the desired outcome in an affirmative manner. With
respect to this, researcher can make use of books, journals, websites, sources or other resources
to have apt information within the stipulated time frame and carry out research accordingly
(Badroeni, 2018). This makes it crucial for a researcher to possess some skills through which
suitable results can be produced by having or collecting relevant information in context of topic
on which research is being carried out. Some of the mandatory skills have been illustrated below:

Time management- For conducting research in an efficacious way, it is crucial to possess
significant skills in context of time management. For an instance, if data is not gathered
within the stipulated time frame then, it is obvious that there will be negative impact on
overall results that are attained as things will be done for the sake of completion rather than
emphasising on improvisation existent results. Through this research, I have analysed that I
possess trenchant and appropriate time management skills which assisted me for carrying
out my responsibilities within the given time duration. Along with this, the results attained
were precise and accurate which lead to the enhancement within the confidence level which
made to focus on rest of activities appropriately. For this, it is necessary that appropriate
scheduling and planning is done which makes it easy to perform tasks within the specified
time limit.
Patience- This is one of the most considerable as well as vital component as there
exist need for appropriate acknowledgement of topics in between team members by which they
can carry out tasks in an coordinated way and as per desired standards. Here, each and every
person involved within carrying out research activities do have their own mindset and mentality
towards tasks assigned to them (Billi. and Waterman, 2014). I am a short tempered person and
like to do the things in my own way rather than taking suggestions again and again for same
thing. This makes me frustrated and angry, thereby, acts as the biggest challenge while working
with different bunch of individuals. This shows that I need to enhance the level of patience
which I do have so that affirmative relationship can be formulated and things can be taken from
others in terms of their viewpoint in specified task and vice-versa. Obviously, this will lead to
make activities smooth, avoid conflicts and miscommunication. This skill has to be improvised
as it will enable to have healthy conversation.
Through the assistance of the skills or information which have been specified above, it is
clearly stated that there are some abilities which needs to be enhanced but there do exist
some in which I am expert so it is important that some basic skills must be improvised. This
will enable to ensure that different activities involved within carrying out research are
performed in an apt way.

questions/hypothesis
Research methodology is considered as an essential and important part of research that is opted
by researcher for collecting accurate data from different number of sources over the current
topic. This part is an effective section of research as it gives accurate knowledge to readers that
which type of method is going to be applied by them. Along with this, it also give proper
understanding on various research objectives and questions as well as how data on this collected,
analysed and evaluated (Birley and Moreland, 2014). Therefore, research methodology is an
effective procedures which includes sub parts that are explained in the main body one after
another.
Data collection: It is considered as the way by which researcher gathers data on study problem.
Mainly information is gathered by researcher by using primary and secondary. In order to collect
primary information, questionnaire is more suitable and effective method which helps
investigator to collect reliable as well as valid data about the study. On the other side, for
collecting secondary information, there are different numbers of sources which are books,
journals, articles, magazines, publication research. These are effective methods which supports
investigator to gather in-depth information regarding the study.
In the present research conducted on the topic “How to improve and promote
independence in home care service” researcher will going to use both the primary as well as
secondary method of collection for getting valid outcome for the same. Along with this, in
primary method investigator will go for questionnaire instrument whereas in secondary method
researcher will go for books, journals, online articles etc.
Research Philosophy
This part of research methodology is classified into two sub parts which are
interpretivism and positivism. For doing investigation over an interesting topic i.e. To improve
and promote independence in home care service, interpretivism philosophy will be applied.
There are various advantages of using interpretivism research philosophy such as builds rapport
with participant, researcher imposition, achieves versehten, validity, subjective and qualitative
data etc. These are biggest advantages used by researcher while using interpretivism research
philosophy. On the other hand, positivism philosophy states that only factual knowledge

acquired by the way of observations are reliable and trustworthy. The emphasis is on quantitative
observations that lead to statistical analysis (Bradbury, 2015). For the study of research topic i.e.
to improve and promote independence in home care service. Interpretivism philosophy will be
applied. There are various advantages of using interpretivism research philosophy such as builds
rapport with participant, researcher imposition, achieves versehten, validity, subjective and
qualitative data etc. hence it will help in preparing a critical review of the topic.
Research Choice
There are actually two choice of investigation for investigator which are quantitative and
qualitative. In case of quantitative research, it completely based on statistical and numerical
information collected from different sources. Under, qualitative research, it mainly relies over
human beliefs, knowledge and perception. Therefore, both types of research have their own
significance in various research. For current study or topic, investigators have applied qualitative
investigation as it will be useful in collecting reliable data from selected participants. This will
help to achievement of effective outcomes in rightful manner. On the other side, quantitative
research is not appropriate for current study because it take additional time and cost of an
enterprise.
P4 Discuss ethical considerations when researching human participants
When researcher collects data or information, they are liable for taking into consideration
different ethical aspects as this will assist investigator in future with respect to the
acknowledgement of the individuals. This has been found that there exist few efficacious sources
that must be taken into account by researcher like confidentiality, informed consent, authenticity,
integrity and various others. This can be done while accumulation of primary data and
information from patients as each detail has to be taken into consideration while assisting them.
Furthermore, each individual have their own privacy which makes it important for them to have
confidentiality of data which is being attained and must not be disclosed to anyone until there is
an appropriate consent (Cabaroglu, 2014). Furthermore, there needs to be ethical consent for
each person so that they feel safe while sharing the details. In addition to this, the gathered
information must be validated and needs to be reliable as this will only lead researcher to have
apt and in depth results in future perspectives.
Researcher is liable for performing activities and tasks in an ethical way for making sure that
emotions as well as feelings of any individual is not hurt while carrying out the research. There

has to be affirmative relationship in between respondents as well as researchers so that they can
collect data in an ethical way (Chevalier and Buckles, 2019). Apart from this, while collection of
information from respondents, it is important to render an assurance with respect the details they
are providing they will be secured and it will not be provided to anyone without prior consent.
This will lead to formulation of faith in between respondents and researcher which in turn will
lead them to have accurate information.

P5 Implement a piece of action research in health and wellbeing improvement
Homecare services basically include supportive care services that are offered to patients who are
not able to execute their own work at their own level. These services are offered to patients by
licensed medical practitioners. It can be said that patients who are not capable of executing their
work at their own level requires home care services utmost. This research has revealed that these
require positive support from care practitioners so that they can recover in quicker manner
(Earley, Fidler and Ouston, 2017). The investigation has also identified that there are many care
practitioners who are not treating patients in rightful manner. This directly affects recovery of
patient. Along with this, from this investigation, it has been analysed that care practitioners are
required to motivate employees to perform their work at their own level so that they can feel
independent and free. Along with this, medical practitioners should also not bound patient for
executing their work as it might make them feel unuseful. This will also affect their psychology
in negative manner.

respondents whether they are aware of the home care services then they responded by saying that

15 were aware and knew whet home care services actually mean and other 5 of them gave a
negative response that they are not aware about this topic.

quick recover, other 8 said that it is the positive environment and the remaining 4 had a view that
quick acceptance of treatment is a benefit for them.

various ways that home care services can implement in order to promote independence among
their patients there was a diverse response from different respondents. Such as 7 respondents felt
it is self work awareness, 8 respondents had a view that it is providing access to some of the
physical activity and the remaining 5 felt that interaction should be encouraged so that
independence can be initiated amongst various patients.

I am happy that I got an effective chance for performing an investigation over “How to
improve and promote independence in home care service”. A case on SweetTree Home Care
Services. It is more knowledgeable and more interesting area of study and helps investigator to
increase their idea about the independence in home care service . With the assist of this research
I become more capable to enhance my different types of research skills such as literature review,
data collection, data analysis and more. These skills helped me while doing investigation in

systematic and effective manner. With the support of these skills I came to understand regarding
some tools and methods that can be applied to do research in effective manner. These methods
assist in collecting, evaluating, determining and concluding the data to represent it in reliable and
effective way. In addition, I also become capable to create my knowledge about the different
ways in which motivation support an organisation to improve its productivity. But along with
these advantages I have also encountered some challenges which doing this research. One of the
main issue faced by me was lack of time as well as insufficient amount of capital given me for
doing this study. This issue highly impacted on mine while completing of each activities and
tasks in research. Improper behaviour of respondents is another issue faced by me during
collection of accurate information regarding independence in home care service. This issue
negatively affected on mine while completion of investigation in systematic manner. In order to
overcome these issues I tried my full efforts to do research in effective manner and presenting
the data in more reliable as well as ethical manner.
