Waltham International College: Enhancing Student Support Services

MAIN BODY
College services basically involves the services related to the business and administrative
services, the campus book store, student accounting and various other services. In context to
college, the services are provided to the staff, students, faculty for the purpose to support the
economic goals and projects, employment and academic(Wilson, 2021).In context to our college
Waltham International College, there are various support services which are provided to us as
students and faculty. The major college support services that we students got at the College
involves the following:
Language Support For students: It basically involves the development of language English as
there is a difference between the English language learnt in higher education and that language
learnt at the college or school. The college provide support to the students in order to improve
their language skills(Natal and Atwood, 2018).
Diversity and Equality: In context to Watham International College, the organisation is fully
committed towards the diversity and equality and is working together for the purpose to build a
learning community that involves celebrating the rich diversity of the staff populations and
students.
Well being support and mental Health: In context to College, we as students are offered well
being and mental health services that offers the advice and short term support to the students who
are dealing or facing any type of personal difficulty or need someone to talk to them or those
who are struggling to cope up at the college. The organisation also provides counsellor if
required by the students.
Dyslexia and Disability support: In context to college, the organisation offers information and
advice related to the disabilities, difficulties and problems such as dyslexia, specific learning and
mental health conditions. The organisation fully support the students and provides various

facilities and services for the purpose to meet the needs of individuals(Curran, and Finch,
2021).
Library Resources: In Waltham International College, we students are provided facilities related
to the library resources and have access to a wide range of articles, journals and range of books
which are required for us to complete our studies. In addition to that the college provides a team
of experienced staff who are highly professional and gives us expert training and support.
Healthcare: The college also provides the facility of healthcare providers and range of doctors
near the college and ensures the safety of students. In addition to that the college offers services
like London Nightline which is basically a information helpline and listening support which is
run by the students and also gets further student support resources which involves samaritans
which is a confidential support which is used in situations of crisis, feeling suicidal and
despairing. The helpline is available 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
Even though we as students are offered with a wide range of support services but still it
would be recommended to the Waltham International College to add some more college support
services that will help in making the college a better place to study in. The student services in
any college plays a very important role in order to retain a student, satisfaction and ensuring
success of the establishment of the educational institute. In case of a university or college not
able to provide services might result in falling in recruitment of students, reputation and
retention. In context to the Waltham International College, it would recommended to identify the
various sources of dissatisfaction and satisfaction, making infrastructure available and providing
efficient support services to the organisation. In addition to that it is also recommended to the
students to engage with the students and provide help to the ones who are struggling through
academic support and also focusing on enhancing retention, improving pass rates and reducing
the withdraws.
It is also important to ensure that students collaborate and connect with the teachers and
faculty in a effective manner and which further helps in enhancing their learning experience.
Moreover it is also recommended that the college improves its support services for the purpose to

track the activities of the students and streamlining the academic and administrative processes
across the campus.
Furthermore it is also recommended to minimize the time involved in accessing services.
In context to college it is important for the college to locate student services that would help in
decreasing the time of waiting and also expertising the staff and improving the quality and also
creating an automated ticket system and saving time and eliminating unnecessary queues. In
addition to that it is also recommended to wrap technology around the college and providing the
students the need to access to the personalized academic information which also involves lesson
plans, attendance, timetables, schedules, library resources and assignments. In addition to that it
involves CMS, mobile technology and harnessing the power of Cloud that would help in
transforming the teaching and learning apples and also focusing on providing all the necessary
data and information which are required by the students. In addition to that it is suggested to
improve the engagement of the student and playing a important role in enhancing the reputation
of the institute among the prospects. In context to the Waltham International College, I and my
peers get the chance to use the student support services that helps in studying in a peaceful
environment.
