Introduction
Inclusive practice is used to identify or recognize the differences that exist among the students
and teach them as per their strengths and weaknesses. It enables every student to participate in
the activities of learning and gain knowledge. In this report, inclusive practice has been defined
along with the effect of cognitive ability on learning. The policy of organization that affects
inclusive practice has been demonstrated along with the description of the experience gained as
inclusion coordinator in a school. Continuous development plan in order to improve the
performance of a teacher has been described along with own strengths.

TASK 1
Define inclusive practice and evaluate the factors you considered in your designing of
inclusive teaching and learning during your teaching practise.
Inclusive practice can be defined as an approach of teaching that focuses on personalized teaching
or providing personalized training to the students based on their strengths and weaknesses. This
form of teaching takes into account the differences that exist among students from various
backgrounds. The main purpose of inclusive teaching is to assure equal rights of education to
every student or learner. It encourages removing or eradicating the barriers that exist in the field of
education it does not entertain any form of discrimination with respect to caste, colour, creed,
language, religion or physical disability (Wingate, 2015). It ensures that the differences among the
students are valued. This form of practice paves way for every student to learn and grow. It
emphasizes on being flexible, that is, being open to accept or embrace changes, making sure that
education is accessible for everyone, work together and valuing the differences that exist among
the students or learners.
In order to improve the practices of teaching and learning it is necessary to adopt certain
procedures that will ensure equality among the students and make sure that every learner has the
opportunity to learn and grow. The factors that I considered in designing inclusive teaching and
learning have been described below:
Evaluate the needs of the students: It is mandatory to analyze the needs and requirements of the
students in order to identify their inclination and strengths. This helps to teach the students in a
way that they can grasp and understand easily. As a teacher assistant of English, I perceived that it
is very necessary to understand the accent of the students who speak different languages and to
have a thorough discussion with the students to understand the areas where they are facing
problems and resolve it effectively (Alexiadou and Essex, 2016).
Learning preferences: It is necessary to identify the preferences of the students in terms of
learning, that is, to understand the ways of teaching through which the students are able to learn
quicker and better. It aids to understand the procedures that enhance the learning practices of the
students or the learners.

Goals of the learners: The aim that the learners have, that is, the reason they want to learn English
helped to design procedures to make the students learn the language effectively and motivate them
to achieve their goals (Ward et al., 2016). Thus, I preferred to have a long discussion with the
students so that I can understand their needs and requirements so that I can assist them to achieve
their goals and objectives.

TASK 2
Evaluate and analyse the impact of cognitive ability and environment of learning.
Various factors affect the process of learning and the knowledge gained by the students. By
cognitive skills or abilities, it is meant that the ability of a person to read, thin, learn, reason, and
remember. These factors affect the learning of a student or a learner because in case a person
does not have the ability to think rationally and retain whatever he or she has learnt, one cannot
learn. It is so because these skills or the cognitive abilities are the basic requirements that
stimulate learning (Ruffing et al., 2015). Education is something that stimulates people to think
and lead life in a constructive way. It is very important to analyse the effect of education on a
person’s numeracy as well as literacy skills such that its impact on people can be evaluated.
The cognitive skills of students or learners aid the teachers to identify the learning ability of the
learners or the students. Cognitive ability is used to identify the ability of the students to
remember the topics he or she has learnt, analyse the facts that he or she has learnt and read as
well as understand the topics or the concepts effectively (Serafini and Sanz, 2016). Therefore, if
a student has weak cognitive ability then his or her process of learning is weak that becomes a
huge obstruction in his or her way to learn new things or topics and grow.
It is necessary to build up a student’s cognitive ability such that he or she can learn and grasp the
things or the topics in a better way. In case a person’s cognitive abilities or skills are, weak it is
recommended to use a variety of methods to make the students or the learners learn. In such
situation, it becomes necessary to understand the procedures or the methods that can aid the
students to learn and retain it (Gill and Prowse, 2016). Thus, in such cases inclusive practices
comes to play to understand the differences that exist among the learners and value it along with
taking steps to conquer the differences or the weaknesses.
The other factor that affects or influences the learning ability of a student is the environment of
learning. It is of prime importance that the students or the learners get a positive environment of
learning. It affects the psychology of the students therefore; it is required to create a positive
learning environment in the classrooms so that the students are content and happy which
stimulates their learning capability thereby stimulating them to perform better in academics. The

environment that a teacher creates in a classroom also affects the problem-solving capacity of the
students thereby affecting their decision-making capability (Vasileva-Stojanovska et al., 2015).
As per reports, it has been found out that a positive environment aids the students to perform
better thereby assisting them to achieve their goals and objectives.
In order to create a positive environment for the learners or the students it is necessary to
identify their needs and take apt steps to address their needs and requirements accordingly. The
teachers must not be judgemental about the students and must have proper discussion with them
personally so that their needs and requirements can be taken into account and accordingly steps
are taken to meet those (Barrett et al., 2015). Students must be encouraged to become friendly
with each other and must be taught regarding the importance of teamwork and having a good
network. The other factor that is necessary is to win the trust of the students so that they can rely
on the teachers and discuss their issues with them without hesitation.

TASK 3
Identify and explain how policy framework and organisational policies influence inclusive
practice in education.
The schools and colleges encourage inclusive practice in education because the management of
the organizations wants to make sure that the students are not discriminated based on caste,
creed, colour, religion, language or physical disability. The management of the educational
organizations wants to make sure that every student or learner gets a chance of learning and to
participate in the learning activities. Education is the birth rights of every person therefore
various policies and regulations have been formulated by UNESCO that guides the educational
organizations to shape frameworks for the effective education of the students. The ways in which
the organizational policies and framework affects inclusive teaching or the inclusive practices in
education have been explained below:
Physical disability: No educational organization can discriminate among the students
based on their physical disability. It is necessary for the teachers of the schools and the
colleges to map the needs of the students and take appropriate steps to meet their needs
and requirements. The management of the schools and the colleges must discuss with the
teachers to devise new ways and strategies in order to ensure that the physically disabled
students are able to learn efficiently (Florian et al., 2016).
Train the teachers: It has become mandatory for the educational organization to organize
training sessions for the teachers so that they are able to teach the students with special
needs effectively. Proper training of the teachers ensures that they are able to handle the
students from different backgrounds and abilities and lead them in the right direction.
Investment on research: The policies and the regulations emphasises on the educational
organization to make investments on research activities such that methods of learning can
be improved. This will ensure that the learning process adopted by the students proves to
fruitful and they are able to have quality education. This will aid to design new practices
such that teaching practices can be improved and made better so that the students are able
to receive quality education.
