Lanka Times Community Newspaper Sales Increase
In spite that the new technology has made it easier for people to access news through the
internet, newspaper companies such as Lanka Times Community Newspaper can still make it to
increase their sales. Its distribution demand has rose from 3000 copies to 5000 copies to all
business owners and participating shops. It has been in conjunction with Lanka Times in
Australia and UK Lanka Times hence steadily increasing the demand. Besides that, the company
has ensured that it has a boutique and unique newspaper which has no everyday reports on
politics. Again, the newspaper evolves in every month through presenting exciting topics.
Moreover, the fact that it is aimed at creating a community enable it to increase its sales.
Evidently, its aim has led to more clients in their company because they are eager to give support
in building the community. Therefore, it is because of the above tactics the company applies in
its sales and marketing that it has got an increase in the number of readers.

It has partnered with “First Cash Worldwide Money Transfers” in achieving sales and marketing
in both the two companies through advertising each other.

research will solve the problem by pointing out how building a community should be the top aim

problem will maintain the partnership which improves the sales and marketing sector.

The aim of this research is to illustrate the best strategies for sales and marketing basing on
Lanka Times Community Newspaper.

How can newspaper companies ensure their hardcopy newspapers are preferred by customers?
How can newspaper companies ensure their hardcopy sales do not go down due to the new

Literature Review
According to Reimer, monopolization of newspaper advertising rates increases sales of
newspapers. In other words, having many advertisers improves sales and marketing of
newspapers. For instance, Lanka Times has advertisers such as western Union, Emirate Airlines,
ANZ Bank and Money Gram.
Eisen Max on how to increase newspaper circulation has explained how important uniqueness of
a newspaper brings more readers hence more sales. This can be related to the fact that Lanka
Times has exciting topics each month which gives the readers more interest.
