This project plan outlines a health promotion program designed to reduce the prevalence of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) among Indigenous females aged 40-50 residing in the Maningrida community of the Northern Territory, Australia. The project addresses the high mortality rates associated with COPD in this population, linking it to traditional cooking methods using charcoal, which exposes individuals to carbon dioxide and increases the risk of COPD. The project aims to increase awareness of COPD risk factors and promote preventive strategies through educational interventions, aligning with primary and secondary prevention approaches. The plan includes SMART goals, stakeholder involvement (healthcare professionals, aboriginal consultants, community members), and a slogan. The project also details health promotion activities, evaluation methods, and proposes monitoring of the target population's behaviors to assess the program's success in reducing COPD prevalence. The project emphasizes the need for culturally sensitive approaches to health promotion within the Indigenous community.
