INTRODUCTION
Learning is the process through which individual can enhance knowledge as per current
market trends. This is the continuous process through which they develop compatiblity to
external environment. There are different sources such as training, seminars, conferences, etc.
through which individual can learn and explore knowledge (Avis, Fisher and Thompson, 2014).
Learning is effective for personal as well as professional life. Learning can be provide in form of
mentoring, coaching, teaching. In this report role of mentor or coach is explained who has being
trained, employed individuals. There is requirement of different skills which are effective and
significant for polish current skills and knowledge. This report covers roles and responsibilities
of coach, mentor, teacher, strategies and resources selected to meet individual learners,

A) Differences between teaching, coaching and mentoring and summarize the responsibilities
that your role entailed
Teacher, mentor and coach sounds to be synonymous but there is difference in their roles
and responsibilities. Coaching has focus on task and performance of individual. Teaching has
relation with knowledge and information related to specific topic. While mentoring is about
increasing efficiency and capabilities of individual.
Teaching Coaching Mentoring
Teaching can be done by
individual who has complete
and appropriate knowledge
about subject. Teaching is
done in group a well as one to
one person also. Teaching
deals with end result of class.
Teaching can be done through
learning programme but they
have to be according to
Coaching deals with
improving weak areas of
individual so to improve

perception of candidate.
There is difference in roles and responsibilities as per change in circumstances. It is
important to make proper strategy through which targets of candidates can be achieve goals and
objectives on time. Some responsibilities played by coach is as under-
Enable students to identify needs- As coach, it is my prime responsibility to enhance
knowledge and quality of individual. There are some skills in every candidate, so it is my
responsibility to identify it. There are some needs and wants of every learners, these has to be
identified with the help of mentor. This can be effective and significant for enhancing career
growth of individual (Corder, 2012).
Offering appropriate guidance or direction- Mentor, coach, teacher are the people who
provide guidance in order to achieve targets. For instance if learner wants to make career in
hospitality sector then I provide guidance to take admission in best college, pursue internship
from reputed hotel, etc. are pathways through which learner can achieve targets in more effective
manner.
Encouraging and challenging- There are different circumstances which are effective and
significant for growth and development of individual. Being coach I motivate learner to accept
challenges. With the help of challenges, learner can grab more opportunities which are fruitful
for their career . Accepting risk results in positive results. There are challenges in life, I motivate
candidate to deal with them effectively.
Exploring solutions- There are different problem arise in career, so being coach I provide

analysing dream, further targets, it is easy for me to identify needs and requirements. I use
mathematical assessment test to evaluate performance of candidates. This is effective to create
bifurcation among learners.
Recognising preferred learning style- There are different learning style such as class
room lecture, seminars, visual presentation, etc. so I analyse interest of candidate and then use
appropriate way to enhance knowledge. Visual presentation is most effective because it is
appropriate for giving information to candidates.
Enable students to identify own needs- it is must that individual himself/ herself must be
aware about their needs. This motivates them to perform operations in effective manner. There is
reason behind every goals of candidate, that must be cleared to student (Cohen, Manion and
Morrison, 2006).
Decision making skill and development of required skill- I make efforts to create
consciousness about future needs in candidate, so it helps to make decisions on their own. I take
actions in order to improve skills which are required by candidate in achieving future goals. I
make decision on the basis of benchmarks and set targets which is effective for learning and
performing well.
Feedback- Feedback is one of the important tools which helps to take appropriate actions
to get positive results. Feedback helps to know that outcomes are positive or negative as
compared to set standards.
Apart from goals and objectives, there is requirement of some basic aspects which creates
good and long term relationship with learners. There is some emotional, intellectual and social
benefits which gives good image in mind of students. I, being coach keeps some aspects in mind
which are discussed as under-
Providing safe environment- Safe environment is important for performing development
strategies in appropriate manner. There are possibilities that due to unsafe environment,
candidates may not able to concentrate on their targets. I coach students in different batches of
boys and girls. This helps to maintain decorum of class (Avis, Fisher and Thompson, 2014).
Trustworthy relationship- Relationship between coach and students are trustworthy.
Sometime, there are some personal problem with student. I listen and tries to resolve them. This
creates good relations with them. I take them in confidence that there issues does not gets
revealed. This helps to create trustworthy relations with learners being coach.

Experimental approach- I believe in new and innovative approaches to deal with
problem. This approach may have possibilities of negative as well as positive results, but learner
can take actions to solve problem through new and innovative manner. Experimental approach
helps to provide new learning and experience to learners.
TASK 2
A) Resources and strategies used in helping students to learn and reason behind choosing them
There is requirement of different resources and strategies which helps to perform learning
program in effective and efficient manner. It is important to plan and organise resources in
appropriate manner. As coach I face many problem which affects learning of individual such as
lack of confidence, communication barriers, etc. some of the strategies I used in order to make
learners enhance their knowledge are as under-
One to one discussion- I prefer to interact with individual on the basis of one to one
interaction which is important and effective for knowing issues faced by candidates (Glover,
2013). This is effective because it provides confidence to individual in sharing their views and
problems.
Practical implementation of activities- Practical knowledge is more impactful as
compared to theoretical aspect. While enhancing knowledge of individual, I prefer to provide
example through practical implementation. This helps to know issues which may arise while
working. So this gets resolved through working with practical aspects.
Supervision- Supervision is effective strategy as it helps to take correct measures in case
of negative results. When I supervise learners they are aware that they can be evaluated at any
time and hence they give their best. With the help of supervision in case of any issue, it gets
resolved at that time only.
Peer member teaching- There are many 50 learners under me. I use different aspects to
enhance their knowledge. There are some candidate who cannot understand by ideas but they can
gain knowledge through peer member. I use this techniques because with peer member candidate
feel conformable and discuss their problem (Harrop and Turpin, 2013).
SMART objectives- Objectives of candidates are according to their future goals and
objectives. I use SMART objectives technique because this helps to achieve targets in
appropriate manner. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, realistic and Time
bound.

Apart from strategies there is requirement of some resources which are important for
enhancing knowledge. There are possibilities that due to change in goals and targets, resources
may get altered. These resources are used according to circumstances and need of learner. Some
resources I used to provide knowledge to candidates are discussed below-
Specific support available for language or literacy- I use language translator, in order to
ease candidate in understanding ideas and information. It is important because there are some
learners who face language problem, so this translator helps to polish their knowledge in
appropriate way.
Internet/intranet- There is requirement of internet in order to explore data. These days
search engine are most reliable and authentic source to gain knowledge. I use internet to explore
data and intranet to exchange information from one individual to another. With the help of
internet, current and appropriate knowledge can be used (Lapp and et. al., 2013).
Provision of specialist counselling- These days I use various group decision techniques
through which ideas of individuals gets shared. Counselling, seminars are some approaches
which are helps to delivering ideas of some renowned person.
Language support- Language is effective for understanding learning provide to
individual. I use a software through which candidate can understanding instructions in their
preferable language. This is effective software for understanding learning and implemeting it.
Vocational bodies- Vocational bodies provides practical knowledge to learners and hence
professional development of candidate is possible. They guide to use theoretical knowledge at
corporate world and pros and cons can be known. This resource is used so concurrent knowledge
can be provided and there is balance between practical and professional knowledge.
B) Identify factors that influence the referral process and agencies worked in consultation and
explain why you might have worked or indeed worked with these agencies
Referral process is a legal and authentic way which provides knowledge about skill and
competencies of individual and accordingly future actions has to be taken (Li, 2013). I had
identified referral process of candidate and then actions are taken in order to enhance their
knowledge. But there are some elements which affects referral process of individual. Some
factors are as under-
Nature of candidate- Nature of candidate is one of the important aspects which affects
learning program of individual. If candidate is of dynamic nature, then it is easy to use different

approaches to enhance their knowledge. If learner is of conservatism approach, then this affects
learning program and safe and consistent policies has to be considered.
Conflict of interest- There is difference in interest of candidates. Sometimes when
training is provided in group then this affects training program because there is difference in
interest of person. Due to conflict of interest similar approach can not be used.
Availability of resources- there is requirement of different resources such as finance,
internet, computer system, etc. to enhance knowledge of candidates. If resources are not
available in adequate amount then this affects learning program of employees.
Student preference- In class room study, there are students having different preferences,
so they intake knowledge as per their mindset (Snodin, 2013). Sometimes due to difference in
mindset training may gets affected. In order to overcome this different team are formed
according to perception.
Access of specialist provision- sometimes there is requirement of specialist knowledge in
order to enhance and learn new approaches. If proper access is not available then this affects
learning and training program of candidates.
Different agencies in which I want to work are as under-
