INTRODUCTION
The role of teamwork is essential in the functioning and effectiveness of the tasks where a

group of the member has been working. There are different aspects which need to be

considered for building the effective team. In addition to this, the application of suitable

strategies and techniques in the team working to enhance the team and help in achieving

the required objectives. Also, the leadership and team building qualities of the team

member enhance which further help them in gaining substantial development and

effectiveness in their operations (Westli, et al. 2010). An analysis has been made in this

report in order to effectively demonstrate the understanding and learning of the different

leadership and learning models in the team working.

This analysis focuses on the team working activities regarding the managerial roles in the

mobile telecommunication company. There are three managerial roles which are carried by

the mobile telecommunication technology such as Marketing, Production, and Finance. A

team of three members has been made where each member possesses significant qualities

and skills which helps in fulfilling the tasks adequately. The prime task for the team is to

apply all the essential models and theories in order to develop a suitable action plan which

would be helpful in running and delivering the project.

During the project, there are several opportunities available for gaining substantial

development and understanding of team building theories and models along with the

suitable analysis tools that help in analysing the market situation (Hughes and Jones, 2011).

Being a student of computer technology, the prime knowledge possessed by me is software

development and data sciences. In this project, there are three members on the team

including me where we have to carry the managerial role such that a suitable model is

applied for conducting the project adequately. The analysis for the project has been

explained in details so that substantial leaning and experience could be demonstrated.

INFLUENCE OF THEORY
BELBIN TEAM ROLES THEORY

There are several team building theories and models which could be applied in the building

of team but the most appropriate and effective team building model is the Belbin’s Nine

Team Roles. Every member in the group belongs to the different area such that the Belbin’s

model helps in assigning roles to each other (Senaratne and Gunawardane, 2015). This

model helps in clearly specifying the roles and responsibilities in the team which resulted in

the clear path for the team members and they adequately fulfil their roles and

responsibility. In addition to this, the theory helps in building a balanced team which could

effectively achieve their goals. There are three managerial roles in the project where the

team members have to decide which role should be carried by them at the certain stage

(van Dierendonck and Groen, 2011). Here, the Belbin’s model has been applied and the

team members effectively assign the roles and adequately fulfilled their role and

responsibility.

This model is also helpful in enhancing the performance of the team members at the huge

level as the team member utilize the psychological diversity in the team in order to deliver

their fullest potential. In the project, the team member divided their roles and

responsibilities adequately such that in one round the first team member was in marketing

while the second team member in production and the third team member in the finance.

The responsibility of the production manager is handling i.e. research &demand, and

demand. Further, the marketing manager has the responsibility of handling logistics and

marketing. At last, the finance manager is responsible for the budgeting, investments, and

tax. In each round, the team is changed so that every team member has the opportunity to

work with their strengths and weaknesses effectively.

It is also comprehended from the application of Belbin’s model that the team leading skills

of the team member has been enhanced as they have the opportunity of working in

different roles and responsibilities (Batenburg, et al. 2013). In addition to this, the

knowledge and skills of the different area have been attained which would be utilized in

future in suitable areas.

An open and interconnected style which helps in leading a team is known as the democratic
leadership style. This style helps in moving the ideas freely in the group and they are also

discussed adequately. The prime application of this leadership style in the project is to attain

a substantial change in the working so that the required goals and objectives could be

achieved. Democratic leadership theory possesses a huge influence on me in the project as

it helps in building good leadership attributes and qualities (Bolden, 2011). In addition to

this, the leadership theory also helps in facilitating the conversation and encouraging the

team members to share their opinions and ideas. The available information is effectively

scrutinized in order to take the most appropriate decision for the project. The final decision

is effectively communicated with the team so that the team could work in unity on the

decision.

The democratic leadership style is applied by us in the project during the changes in the

situation and attaining flexibility in the tasks. The application of democratic leadership

theory possesses a huge role in my development and growth at the different level. For

instance, my decision-making skills and qualities have been enhanced due to the application

of democratic leadership theory in the task as several decisions are taken in the project

(Hernandez, et al. 2011). The theory is also helpful in situations when the decision is quite

complex and broad such that different areas are considered altogether in order to attain the

possible solution. My critical thinking skill is also enhanced due to the application of this

theory in the project.

The major benefits of democratic leadership theory are developing groups, consultation,

flexibility toward changes, and knowledge of different areas. The application of democratic

leadership theory helps me in building open communication, exploring the discussion,

critical thinking for delivering several solutions, respect towards the ideas, and better

explanation of decisions. The role of democratic leadership theory in the project is essential

as it helps in conducting the smooth functioning of the operations and encourages the team

members to put extra effort (Hendriks and Karsten, 2014). Also, the theory is helpful in self-

development and gaining the substantial understanding of different ideas and opinions.

PERSONAL REFLECTION
The project has been helpful in gaining substantial understanding and learning of different

areas through the application of different theories and models. The teamwork in a group of

three members where each member has to play a significant managerial role in every round

which provides the deep insight into a certain area. In addition to this, the application of

suitable models and theories in the required situation help the team in achieving their

required goals and objectives. Also, the models and theories provide deep knowledge and

learning of required skills and attributes which could be utilized in future at the appropriate

situation.

Initially, the team has been segmented through the application of Belbin’s Team Role

Theory where the team members are allocated with a significant managerial role for each

round (Hoda, et al. 2012). There are six rounds in the project where a single team member

has to carry a role twice in the process. Initially, I was working as a production manager in

round one then in round two I was working as a finance manager then at third round I was

working as a marketing manager. After that, the working process is again repeated such that

the knowledge of the different area has been gathered adequately. Being a production

manager in the first round, my responsibility is to handle areas like research & development

along with the demand. Further, the finance manager has the responsibility of handling the

tax, investments, and budget. At last, I worked as a marketing manager where I have to

handle the logistics and marketing. The application of Belbin's team role theory enhances

the knowledge of different areas at the huge level.

After carrying significant team lead role, I get an opportunity to assess different leadership

theories and further apply the suitable theory in the functioning. The most appropriate

leadership theory which is selected by me in the tasks is democratic leadership theory. This

theory is very helpful when working in a team as every team member work in collaboration

to effectively achieve the required objectives and goals. In addition to this, this theory helps

in effectively assessing the required situation for the complex situation which is further

approved by the group through mutual consent (Van Wart, 2013). Moreover, the ideas and

opinions of every team member are respected so that they could contribute to the progress

of the task. The communication between the team members is quite healthy due to the

5

application of this theory as every member participates in the process of tasks. This theory
enhances my leadership skills and attributes.

The growth in the business will be attained when the required areas of the external

environment are adequately assessed. When I was working as a marketing manager then for

analysing the external environment PESTLE analysis has been conducted by me. The tool is

based on six aspects of the external environment such as political factors, economic factors,

social factors, technological factors, environmental factors, and legal factors. The external

environment has been dependent on these aspects and the analysis helps in gaining

required knowledge and information about the areas which need to be handled effectively

for gaining success in the business (Makos, 2015). The knowledge and information about the

tools are helpful for me in acquiring weak areas and further developing the suitable strategy

in order to overcome them effectively. Also, the analysis of the external environment helps

the business in building a potential position so that substantial growth and development

could be attained along with the required goals and objectives. My analysis skills have been

improvised due to the application of PESTLE analysis.

In addition to this, SWOT analysis has been utilized by us in the research in order to

scrutinize the decisions which are taken so that suitable discussion and analysis of the

market could be conducted. The SWOT analysis has been dependent on four factors such as

strength, weakness, threat, and opportunity (Friesner, 2011). It is an internal analysis

framework which is applied during the strategic planning process. It helps the company in

assessing their position in the market as per the resources and capabilities which are

essential for working in the competitive environment. Also, the strategy for the future is

selected and developed as per the application of the SWOT analysis. This analysis model

helps in gaining substantial knowledge about the internal aspects that possess a huge role in

the functioning of the company.

CONCLUSION
There are several areas and aspects which have been adequately comprehended from the

aforementioned report. A teamwork on different factors such that the knowledge and

information which helps in the effective functioning of the team are adequately evaluated. A

huge role is played by different theories and models on the team member as they provide

deep insight and substantial learning about the certain area. In the current situation, a team

lead gets an opportunity to learn about the Belbin's Team Model in the allocation of suitable

roles to the team member. In addition to this, the knowledge of leadership theories has

been gathered through the study such that the team lead applies suitable leadership theory

in the functioning in order to ensure healthy functioning and operations. The democratic

leadership style has been applied by me in the project which helps in conducting healthy

operations and encouraging the team members to effectively participate and share their

ideas.

Moreover, the application of analysis tools helps in assessing the self-thinking ability and

also building strategies for gaining substantial growth and development. The use of PESTLE

and SWOT in the project helps in assessing the environment adequately which further help

in developing the suitable strategy as per the situation. Overall, the project helps in gaining

deep insight into the team working skills and attributes along with the application of

suitable models and theories. The team working activities help in gaining substantial

knowledge about the different areas. The application of the models and theories help in

enhancing the existing skills and gaining required learning which would be applied in further

for attaining substantial benefit and advantage.
