INTRODUCTION
Reflection is an effective activity which is associated with appropriate and essential
overviewing and evaluation of the past experiences of an individual (Weiner, 2015). In addition
to this, it is a highly crucial activity which is important for people to perform in order to
determine the skills and competencies which they possess and which they are required to learn or
improve. Hence, in this relation, below is a personal reflection which are based on several key
skills development, for which, Gibbs Reflective Cycle is utilised, which is a framework used
appropriately for reflecting upon several skills and competencies as well as past experiences.
MAIN BODY
Description
The module required a detailed assessment, evaluation and application of different skills
and competencies which were required to successfully complete the overall assignments and
tasks in an academically effective and professionally sound manner (Turner, 2018). In relation to
this, the certain skills and competencies were implemented and applied by me such as,
communication, numeracy, ICT, Problem Solving and Teamwork, which were all required in
accomplishing the activities within the overall module. In addition to this, there are certain tasks
which were conducted by me that required application of these skills along with other major
competencies such as time management, coordination and planning.
Feelings
During the start of this module,I was very much nervous as there were certain
competencies which were never used by me before in my academic career. Moreover, due to
new patterns and teachings, I was anxious to learn new things as well as get acquainted with new
concepts as part of my study within this module effectively. However, as I progressed in my term
and learnt how best to use new technologies, concepts and resources; I became more confident
that I could appropriately handle skills, competencies, as well as work with more effective and
complex systems in an essential and rewarding manner. Furthermore, I felt somewhat dissatisfied
during end of this module as there is a wide scope of improvement within my current
competencies which are yet to be improvised to ensure future success and growth.

Evaluation
There are several positive as well as negative experiences associated with the module,
which is required to be determined in order to identify the strong and weaker pointers effectively
(Redmond, 2017). As for positive experiences, one of the most prominent one is related to the
use of Numeracy. The module required me to appropriately work with new and numerical data,
as well as effective statistics to accomplish certain activities in an appropriate and effective
manner. Hence, I was quite effective and competent in working with such data and statistics,
which allowed me to enhance my numeracy skills in an effective manner. Furthermore, another
effective experience within this module was Information and Communications Technology
(ICT). There were times when I was required to work on new systems and software to
accomplish a particular set of report. For example, I used Microsoft Office systems like
PowerPoint and Excel to produce reports and presentations. Hence, in this relation, I was very
much effective in using these software and working with the same which contributed in my
understanding of professional standards that is used in making a report or a presentations.
However, apart from this, there were several negative aspects as well. For example, one
such experience was associated with Problem Solving. There were instances where I faced
several problems but was not effective in solving them due to ineffectiveness in gathering crucial
information which could help me deal with this in the same manner. Another negative
experience was associated with communication. I found it very complex to write an effective
report as my reports lacked uniformity and flow, which is one of the most important factors
associated with the same. In addition to this, my verbal communication is quite weak, which was
reflected by my hesitant presentation within the class.
Analysis
This section is related to the reasons as to what sense does the above reflection make
(Brown, 2015). Hence, from the above reflection, it could be stated that all the competencies
mentioned above are very much important for an individual to learn. However, I am yet to learn
certain skills which made my performance weaker within the overall module. In addition to this,
there is a need to appropriately indulge into several activities which would allow me to
appropriately and effectively enhance the scope of improvement.

Conclusion
Thus, it could be concluded from the above reflection, that my competence is yet to
enhance in order to experience success and prosperity in my future career (Ryan, 2015). Hence,
in this relation, I could have had a different approach towards the skills which are not yet
enhanced, such as I could have approached my assessors, tutors and classmates for feedbacks.
Moreover, I could have also undergone certain training programmes which would have enhanced
my competence.
Action Plan
Thus, to ensure improvisation within the same, I have undertaken a VARK test, which
reflected that I am a multimodal learner (Refer to Appendix 1). Hence, in this context, I would be
undertaking training workshops which would allow me in enhancing my problem solving skills
effectively through simulations. This would enable me to work in mock and complex situations
that would be enhancing my competence in dealing with problems appropriately. Furthermore, in
order to enhance my communication skills, I would be undertaking seminars, which would
enable me to participate in activities that would require me to hear, speak, write and debate upon
several topics effectively, which would ensure my future academic and professional success.
CONCLUSION
Thus, it is concluded from the report above that reflection is very necessary for
individuals in order to reflect upon past experiences, as well as evaluation of negative and
positive aspects associated with the same. In addition to this, it is necessary that several skills
and competencies which are required to accomplish certain modules and assignments. Lastly,
action plans must be developed in an effective manner, which would enable individuals in
assuring future success and prosperity in an effective manner.
