Leaders are those people who help others do the right thing in a right way. They are those
people who plan, direct and inspire other people. Indra Nooyi was a CEO of pepsi.co. She joined
pepsi.co in 1994 and became the CEO In 2006. Some of her personality traits which made her a
good leader were that she was always high on energy when she joined the company she
increased the net income and she always followed 5C’s throughout her career which are
character, capacity, capital, conditions and collateral she was an extrovert an and she always had
good communication skills (Schein, 2010).
She had a good relationship management with employees as her use to send blogs to
employees frequently in order to motivate them. Apart from this she also use to send letters to
the parents of the employees and personally interacted with the customers. She always uses to
listen to the opinions of her customers as well as employees and always use to consider them.
She always looked forward to satisfy the needs of the employees Kurland, Peretz & Hertz-
Lazarowitz, 2010).
Some of the advantages of her leadership were that the direction of the business
remained fine, during her time, there was high level of employee satisfaction, better working
conditions and there was a very low employee turnover. However, there was a disadvantage as
well she gave too much attention to the employees, which indirectly affected negatively on the
profit management.
Indra Nooyi’s leadership style is very effective in places where creative and new ideas
are needed and the situations often change and where consultation is often required.
