1PERSONAL INTRODUCTION AND PROJECT SCOPE
Personal Introduction
I would like to first of all introduce myself and the professional experience that I have
gathered over the years. I would begin by saying that I am a Reliability Engineer and have an
engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering. Furthermore, apart from the various
internship programs in which I particular during my college, I have more than 16 years of
professional work experience. More importantly, I have worked in different fields like
petrochemical sector, as a mechanical engineer and others. In addition to these, I have also
worked in maintenance, reliability and have extensive project experience. As a matter of fact,
currently I am working on two projects which are expected to improve the reliability of
operational assets, namely, Reliability Improvement and Assets Life Assessment. These
different job roles not only offered me the opportunity to use as well as develop the skills that
I gained during my colleges but at the same time gave me a fair idea regarding the manner in
which is being done in the professional business world.
Business case scenario
The business that I am hoping to develop is the “Industrial Services Business”. This
will provide a plethora of services to the customers and other business enterprises like
technical support, cleaning and others. In addition to these, the service inventory of the
business would also offer other kinds of services to the users like overhauling, machining
services to support industrial companies and others. My idea behind the formulation of this
business plan is to improve the quality as well as the reliability of the operational assets
which are being used by the different industries of the world currently. Crawford (2014) is of
the viewpoint that one of the major problems that the different industries are currently facing
is the fact that they end up incurring a very high operational cost and also the machineries
that are being used by them are not very reliable. It is precisely here that the business which I

have developed becomes important since it intends to not only reduce the operational cost of
the industries but at the same time enhance the reliability of the machineries used by them as
well.
Scope, Aims and Objectives
The aim of the business case is to improve the quality as well as the reliability of the
operational assets which are currently being used by the different industries of the world. The
objectives of the business case under discussion here are given below-
To find out the major reasons of factors which reduce the reliability as well as the
quality of the operational assets used by the modern industries
To evaluate the measures through which the reliability as well as the quality of the
operational assets of the industries can be improved
To recommend strategies for the effective implementation of the business case or
project
These in short are the major assumptions or the scope on which the business case or
the project will mainly. However, there are other factors like cost of the entire project, the
time period required for the effective implementation of the project and others have been
omitted out of the scope of the project (Patanakul and Shenhar 2012). The major
deliverables for the project thus will the measures or the strategies and also mechanical
changes in the current assets used by the industries currently.
