Executive summary
The main aim of this report is to develop the personal commitment to both future goals setting as
well as, presenting regular reflection. This reflection report illustrated the different importance of
goal setting as well as, reflection in career development. These are offering guidance to business,
encouraging the workforces for performing and limiting Stress and Maintaining Focus. I have
developed different sills from working in a previous organisation and with self assessment.
These are team work, decision making and customer dealing. It is also found that two tests such
as Gallup report as well as, LPA score is used for developing the career. Three workplace
examples are founded for developing my skills and competencies such as when I positioned as a
real estate manager, shopping centre cleaning manager, and manager at a restaurant. This
experience would be applied by me to make career in real estate business.

Introduction
This report presents the importance of goal setting as well as, reflection in the career
development. It also emphasizes on SMART goals. This report also explains the 3 workplace
examples from 200 hours of workplace experience that caused me to reflect and a description of
that reflection. It also concludes with a statement of personal commitment to both future goal
setting and regular reflection.
Role/importance of goal setting and reflection in career development
Goal setting is beneficial in different manners. It is described as given below:
Offering guidance to business
Goals could offer future directly to the business that helps to guide a person and workforces
within everyday decision making procedure (Forbes, 2019). For instance, in previous
organisation, my goal was to reduce the office expenses in targeted time period, hence I have
focused on purchasing the products with discount. When my goal was to enlarge the business, I
decided to practice the income created through increasing large client for developing an addition
to an organization.
Encouraging the workforces for performing
Goal setting is applied as a motivational technique for workforces (Harvard Business Review,
2019). When an individual is focusing on gaining sales, an individual could apply incentive
initiative in which salespeople get cash reward to attain particular objectives. For example, I will
investigate in 20 major companies in my field by end of November.
Limiting Stress and Maintaining Focus
Goals could be supportive for declining the stress. Without goals to instruct an individual, I can
create a tendency for jumping from one project and task to another rather than emphasizing on

the most significant requirement of the business. Consequently, I can come for realizing that my
overall production is declining as well as, I will be wondering what I am actually attaining as
well as, developing a sense of concern.
Career development
Reflection assists in enhancing self-awareness which is known as the key element of emotional
intelligence because it supports in gaining depth understanding about other persons. Further,
reflective practices support me to increase my creative thinking skills and it also leads me to
become more active at the time of processing of work. Reflective practices could be improved by
learning journals on regular basis and refer it in different situations of work (Savelsbergh,
Havermans, & Storm, 2016). It aids me to develop more effective discussion related to career
development and my personal development during the discussion of appraisal.
From LPA score, it is found that I have different competencies that help in the development of
my career. These competencies are analyzing and solving problems, working well with others,
achieving objectives, learning and self-development as well as, adapting to change (Jackson,

2016). I obtained 4 out of 10 i.e. low score in analyzing and solving problems that demonstrate
this competency is similar with an average score about other individuals who have attained the
assessment. I may take advantageous from taking some of the measures for further to strengthen
this area. I have also obtained 8 out of 10 scores in learning and self-development i.e. higher as
compared to other competencies.
From Gallup report, it is found that I have different competencies such as Positivity,
Responsibility, Communication, Input and, Woo. Throughout the positivity, it is found that I am
exceptionally talented into positivity theme as well as, have contagious enthusiasm. I also upbeat
as well as, could get others excited regarding what I am going to perform.
From responsibility, it is addressed that I exceptionally talented within the responsibility theme
take psychological ownership regarding what I state I would do. I am also encouraged for stable
value like loyalty and honesty. In the context of communication, it is found that I exceptionally
talented within the communication theme generally address it easy for putting their thought into

words. I am also good presenters as well as, conversationalists. From the Input, I exceptionally
talented in input theme have a requirement to archive as well as, collect. I can accumulate the
ideas, data, artifacts and, associations. In the context of Woo, it is identified that I am
exceptionally talented into Woo theme and loves the challenges for a get together with new
people as well as, winning them over. I also derive satisfaction through breaking the ice as well
as, creating a link with someone.
3 Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely (SMART) personal goals
Smart goal
Smart goal is referred as the incorporation of certain criteria such as Measurable, Realistic,
Specific, Achievable, and timely that assist in emphasising on my efforts and enhance the
opportunities of getting the goal. Smart goal is practiced for setting of goal (Arrowsmith &
Mandla, 2017). Following goal is used by me for development in personal and professional
career:
 I will find 30 real estate companies that uses Artificial intelligence during MBA for
making career in real estate business
 I will investigate in 20 major companies in my field by end of November
 I want to perform well in my classes during last semester

reflect and a description of that reflection
I have worked in a real estate firm where I have gained different experiences such as team work,
customer handling and decision making in the context of real estate business. In this company, I
have also pointed out that teamwork is required for attaining the goal of the company such as
improving emotional intelligence. I have also increased my learning that decision making plays a

significant role in the real estate business and life. I have also worked as shopping centre
cleaning manager where, I have increased my understanding regarding task handling strategies.
In this position, it is observed that coordination is required to achieve the goal of the company
(Hines, 2017). I have worked as manager at a restaurant where I have gained my knowledge
regarding ways of customer dealings. For example, I used effective communication to deal with
customers. In this position, it is pointed out that communication and emotional intelligence skill
is essential for accomplishing the goal of the company (Rogers, Lee, & Yan, 2015).
Conclude with a statement of personal commitment to both future goal setting and regular
reflection
It can be concluded that my personal commitment is to become a manager in a real estate
business. For this, I have conducted two tests such as Gallup report and LPA score. It is
beneficial for achieving my goals. I have developed my skills through gaining experience as real
estate client representative, shopping centre cleaning manager, and manager at a restaurant. From
previous organisation, I have learned different skills such as customer dealing, team work, and
decision making. This skill would be beneficial for me to become a good real estate business
manager (Harvard Business Review, 2019). It would be beneficial for making development in
my personal and professional career.
