An organizational structure is a framework that describes how some tasks are directed
toward achieving a firm's objectives. Those may involve laws, positions, and obligations. The
organization’s framework also defines how knowledge moves inside the company across stages.
The nature of business mainly based on this structure that categorized into different manner such
as, functional, matrix, divisional and flat (Schiro and Neelin, 2019). To understand of this
statement select a company Intercontinental hotel this belongs from hospitality industry. There
are discuss about the structure of hotel that based on their industry and according to conduct all
the activities effectively.
MAIN BODY
The structure of any organization based on the nature of industry that supports to set
structure of an entity. In the intercontinental hotel apply matrix structure in which the reporting
relationships are set up as grid instead of traditional hierarchy. In broad manner, there is creating
dual relationship with functional as well as product manager. In the context of hotel, its ability to
create cross functional team for different projects and initiatives of the business.

In the hospitality industry use matrix structure where the information flow in two way
flow. The manager of hotel connects with every department and take report about their section in
order to prepare effective strategy (Olson and et. al, 2018). This structure mainly applied at large
scale, project structure that employ different members of organizational functional structure
without disrupting or destroying the structure in procedure.
In retail industry does not follow this structure because in which all the functions are
categorized into different each division includes important resources and function within to
support that product line and geography. The advantage of this structure that more efficient and
initial ability in order to coordinate with every activity among sections. These structures provide
greater flexibility that respond to modification in the local market and size of business (Eickhoff,
Constable and Yeo, 2018).
In manufacturing industry apply flat structure in which provide responsibility to every
staff members according to their skills and remove excess management layers that create
problem in decision making procedure. As a results enhance communication and interaction in
between staff members and top executives. Due to fewer levels among employees helps in
decision making procedure effectively (Benson, Gleich and Leskovec, 2016).
CONCLUSION
As per the above report it has been concluded that different industry follow particular
structure to conduct different activities of business. Accordingly they are using all the decisions
in regard o business. The hospitality industry follows matrix structure, retail industry follow
divisional structure. Along with different industry follow different structure like retail industry,
divisional structure and manufacturing industry follow flat s accordingly they are tking decision
and communicate with their staff members.
