This case study examines an instance of ineffective communication within a healthcare setting, specifically focusing on the readmission of a patient named Marry to the mental health department of ABC Healthcare. The analysis reveals a lack of communication between medical departments, inadequate information delivery to the patient and her family, and the neglect of critical information regarding the patient's potential for aggressive behavior upon release. The study proposes the application of the Johari Window theory to improve self-awareness and interpersonal communication among staff, as well as Lewin's Change Management Theory to facilitate changes in the communication process through feedback mechanisms. Ultimately, the goal is to enhance therapeutic relationships, prevent medical errors, and improve patient health outcomes by addressing communication barriers within the healthcare environment.
