INTRODUCTION
Gender inequality is major problem that is faced by different society for long time.
The gender inequality can be explained as term that conclude that men and women are
not equal and this perspective affects the personal and professional life of both in
society. The differences that considered in this process are biological, psychological
and in terms of culture (Stoet and Geary, 2018). Some of these aspects are empirically
grounded and other are constructed socially. There are various examples are visible in
daily routine where people differentiate the roles, responsibilities and activities of men
and women based on gender. There are various fields and areas are there in which
women are provided with fewer opportunities as compared to men. This report is
providing information briefly about various perspectives of different theorits about the
impact of gender inequality in sports activities. There will be different examples will be
considered in order to evaluate the impact of gender inequality based issues in society.
In this report perspective of different authors will be taken to explain various daily life
example of gender inequality
MAIN BODY
Pavlidis y Fullagar, 2016 Society believes and approach of treating women now
has be changed, Now society members are giving equal response to men and women
both. Earlier it was challenging for the girls to participate in any kind of competitive
sport activity. Rise of Roller Derby is the great example of it, if women wants to do
something then they make hard efforts to achieve it. Roller derby is the game which is
very close or same as wrestling (Polcuch, Brooks and Bello, 2018). Earlier only men
got chance to participate in such kinds of activities. But in the year 2007, some girls
came together to create history. Till 2007 it was found that around 7927 women have
taken interest in such physical game and they have been registered in international
Roller girls. Till the end of 2013 around 40542 girl’s skaters were recorded as player of
this game. This rapid growth clearly show that gender inequality is not more present in
today’s word. Men and women both are equal and it completely depends upon the
game style of player, if the person is playing and showing something unique to audience
then individual will get success and popularity (Falk and Hermle, 2018). There is no
matter whether person is male or female. This game has raised opportunities for women

and their leisure participation is encouraged by people. This Roller Derby came with the
opportunity for girls because they can raise their position in society and show their
capabilities to all those who think that women are weaker than men and have no
capabilities to play game. Success of this women game has gained attention of people,
social media has helped in promoting this success to all (Kuhar and Paternotte, 2018)
. Now many television reality series are being telecasted on this sport activity.
There are different ways women are treated differently form the men. There are
many real life examples are their which are specifically reflecting gender gap and
inequality in the sports and athletics (Kuhar and Paternotte, 2018). The major gap which
occurred in sports is related to the wag gap between the male players and women
players. It does not matter which team performing better or which team is performing
bad. For example in US national women team has won the cup, but 2015 competitors
of the team were pays 40 times less then the men's team. The whole budge for women
team was 15 million Dollars and the budget of men's team was around 576 Million
Dollars. Which is a major different between men and women team. The main reason
behind this is somehow related to the gender inequality. This is not all about the
organizers this is is also about people who watch games in stadium and TV. People
shows more interest in men games which are sponsored by top brands with budget in
millions. The women players are not paid that much as men players are paid b the
sports organizations. The main reason behind this different is also related to the
mentality of the audience. As compared to the match of men and women people prefer
men games over the women. This is how it is major social problem that is providing less
opportunities to women. There is also one example is there where FIFA has awarded
the winner women team with 2 million, even in 2014 world cup there were 16 teams who
played in world cup and took 10 million at home on an average (Martinsson and Griffin,
2016). The winning team Germany has earned around 35 million as prise. This is major
difference between men and women on international level sports. The difference
between the prise amount state the impact of gender gap or gender inequality.
Some other issues that are faced by the women players are related to the playing
conditions. The equipments and gadgets that are used by men team are far more
advance than the tools and gadget that are used by the women team. The conditions

that are offered to the women players and athletes are completely different from the
male players. It reflects in the decision of FIFA where they have decided that now the
women teams will play matches on artificial turf. The budget that is provided to the men
team comparatively too high from the women team. The use of artificial turf can be
consider as smaller point. This could be consider as normal decision but the use of
artificial turf can cause major safety issues. It also can cause injury and burns to the
female players. At some extent this decision of FIFA looks like born form the concept
the gender inequality. This is how women players are provided with adverse conditions
just to save money. Sports authorities are also not considering the safety and health
concerns for women (Durbin, Page and Walby, 2017). This thing reflect decisions based
on gender inequality. There should be some changes need to be made in order to
provide equal situations to the male and female players. There is major requirement of
considering these athletes same while it comes to spending money and other
resources. A tweet by England Football Association had made thing more clear. As
there women's team has conquered the title they post a tweet on tweeter which was
about congratulating their female players and make them realise their real place and
according to their tweet their right place is their home the their responsibility to take care
of their family. This was one of the most shameful statement that is provided by the
England Football Association. In many cases female players are treated differently.
These players are objectified and sexualized. These players are too good with their
skills but sometimes these players are objectified and sexualized on the basis of their
sexual orientation. There are different websites have made various titles for men like
richest male player, men's fitness ad the athletic build but when it comes to women
players they were objectified with titles like most sexiness of female athletes (Varnum
and Grossmann, 2016)
. This is also major problem with media and people who take the body of female players
over their skills and fitness. This is how the female players are treated whole differently
them the male players.
Since longer duration women are getting discriminated in every field. Society do
not treat them equally. Even in the sports field, it is assumed by family members,
schools and other society members that sport is not a women’s cup of tea. Society

members believe that sport is the masculine activity in which they require force and
aggression hence women can not perform well because they are known for their
patience. For example media is considered as big platform which promotes sports
globally. Media does not take much interest in female sports even most of the time
broadcasting channels do not even give much detail about women sports activity on
televisions. For example In the year 2008 Pekin Olympic games held in Angelini.
MacArthur and Billings 2012 has revealed facts in his report that less than 27% press
coverage was here. Media promotes the men athletes more than women. Vancouver
winter Olympic also shown that there is gender discrimination because media telecast
men games more than women sports activities. Report show that more than 3/5 time
men athletes are shown on telecasted episode. Even sports caster also give chance to
deliver comments on men more than female athletes (Angelini, MacArthur and Billings,
2012). When is comes to provide the opportunities to the female players by providing
them platform to promote their games and skills media channels are too weak. As a
report the ESPN's sportcenter and Foxsports 1's has provided less then 1 % of all their
time to the games of the women players. This reflects major treatment that is performed
by various sports channel in promote women games. These are some major challenges
that are ned to be consider in order to provide better and equal treatment to women
players. For the real time example it can be notice that all the events that are consists
of women players are provided with less on air time as compared to then men events.
This is the difference that reflect the impact of gender inequality on the principle in the
activities that are performed by the people and various other platforms. As per the
statics over the time it can be said that the women sports events that are not that much
appreciated as compared to the men's events (Ross and Padovani, 2016). This is all
about the mentality of the people who are related to various sports. From all around
world there are totel 40 % of women are participants in different sports events. As the
40 % participants are women although women sports events are provided with budget
that is 4 percent of budget that is provided to men sports events. As per the research of
a new paper, there are only 3.5 % of women players are subjected for sports story
among all players around the world. The lower coverage to the women events, less
budget provided to these players and game events and less sponsorship shows the

mentality of people regarding the women sports events that reflects the mentality of
people.
There are different examples of gender based discrimination around world. The
one of the best paid English player Steph Houghton earns around 65000 Euro a year
while one player named Wayne Rooney get 3000,000 Euros a week. This is not a small
difference between the wage of player. This wag gap reflects shows issues related to
the gender inequality in sports. There are also some examples are their in which both
male and female players are paid equally in the sports events. For example the
Wimbledon is one of the tournament where the male and female players are paid
equally. This case is not only about the players there is also huge difference between
the male and female coaches in different games. For an estimate male basketball
coaches paid 10 million a year but the female coaches are only paid 7000,000 year.
The health standards that are used in the women games are also not that efficient as
compared to the other players. There is a statement which is made by an Olympic
authority- no matter how tough a sports women may be, her organism is not cut out to
sustain certain shocks. As per the comment of Olympic authority they are not
considering the efforts that are put by female players in game but they are not rewarded
for that. There are some people are considering the female player more fragile and
vulnerable as compared to the men (Holmgren and Arora-Jonsson, 2016). Here people
need to make major change in their mentality to support the female players and provide
them more facility and resources to provide them with equal treatment.
There are different fields are their in which people are providing equal
opportunities to both male and female players in sports events. There are different
organizations around the world are providing better processes policies to empower the
women in various sports activities. This is how people are taking initiatives to improve
the chances and opportunities that are provided to the sports players. There are many
international platforms are their which are considering the importance of the
encouraging women in various sports events and take an initiative to provide better
platform to the women players in various games. As Olympic is one of the most famous
event around world it can be used to set a role model in front of other people by making
stand for women and provide equal consideration to female player which is equal to

men. This is how Olympic going to make changes in their event management by equal
considering the female players. There are some issues that are faced by the female
player and people around world are related to sexual harassment, unequal pay, racism,
less opportunities and less attention. These are some common challenges that are
faced by the female player sports industry. The case of sexual harassment make the
opportunities more difficult for women (Dommermuth, Hohmann-Marriott and
Lappegård, 2017). The dominance of men over women in some sports is too much. For
example football and cricket are the most common games where women are not
provided with equal resources and chances to enhance their skills and prove their
capabilities on national and international level. There are some improvement still need
to be made in sports industry to consider female player equal to the male players and
provide them with equal pay and resources with in the game. Sports events are most
common thing that is considered by different people to perform women empowerment.
The role of audience is also important in this process where they can contribute equally
by paying more attention to the women sports.
CONCLUSION
This report is concluding the importance of the women empowerment in the
various sports events around world. There are different perspectives of people has been
considered in the study to develop an understanding about the issues that are faced by
female players in different sports activities. In this report there are various life examples
has been provided n order to to get actual data about the gender discrimination around
the world. These issues has been targeted to provide better situations to the female
players in sports event. Different type of gender discrimination has been analysed in the
report that is faced by female players with in sports industry.
