Introduction:
The British empire is an umbrella having different type of structure and different type of
entity space, authority and imperial connection that makes it a multitude influential and
deceptive force. This deceptive force and their empire were important for Australia at that time.
Britishers also gained much more by colonizing Australia as it provided them with powerful
naval base in the Pacific Ocean for their ships and also helped them with several incredible
materials which they never received from any other part of the world. More than 160,000
convicts were sent to Australia in the time of colonisation, determining the mutual requirement
for these countries. However, for Australia, the empire and its benefits were important and due to
this, this country showed double loyalty to the empire to receive the benefits of the empire.
Discussion:
There were several advantages, that the country received from being colonized under
British empire. Australia was never colonised British empire and the population of this country
did not have any concept of democracy. Therefore, Australians were able to understand the idea
of democracy only after they were colonised by the British empire and hence, this was the first
advantage they received from the British government. Atlas (2013) mentions this as an important
aspect of British colonisation for Australians as it provided them with the opportunity to fight for
their independence and live freely in the society. Further, due to British empire in 20Th century
provided the Australian country a place in the commonwealth nations and this increases the
exposure of this country in the world map. Further, due to this the country was able to receive
support and care after the empire era as well. Thirdly, this empire made the Australian society
diverse and helped people from other countries to come and colonise this place. Making it a
diverse and multicultural society that increases the acceptability of this country in the modern

society. This is an important achievement for Australians as it helped them to go to different
country.
The British empire also helped the country to develop their infrastructures, transportation
and railway service, which in the later time became an asset to the country’s development. ()

also provided with law aregulation at primary level that helped to develop and modify different

Australian indigenous society helping it to develop. Further, these are the reasons due to which
the Australian society was populated with British population and it was important for them to

On account of its geographical position, Australia had been excluded from the rest of the
world both in terms of cultural, social and infrastructural visibility. The advent of British
colonization let to the journey of progress and development in the Australian continent. In order
to carry out export, the British proactively developed the transportation network with special
emphasis on the sea route. It should be critically noted here that, a major proportion of the
Australian land is arid and irregular. This has been the main obstacle in developing

which automatically benefitted the Australians in the long run.

improved roads and railway routes.
Further it should be acknowledged as per the evidences furnished by the research studies
that the British believed in using their mother tongue which is English as the official language in
every part of the world they colonized (McQueen, 2013). This gradually let to the use of English
language as the official language in Australia. It helped in unifying the multi linguistic
population base of Australia.
Due to the trade system incorporated by the British, it facilitated the promotion of
cultural diversity and exchange of ideas. Moreover, studies state that the judicial system was also
reformed to a great extent (McQueen, 2013). This was primarily on account of the British
bringing in their systematic law and order reforms with them.
The British Empire strongly emphasised on the Education system by means of
establishing reputed schools and colleges within the colonies (Brown, 2014). This exposed the
Australians to Western education and grasp the latest knowledge in terms of science and
technology and culture and history.
In terms of Sports, The biggest contribution of the British was Cricket. It was only after
the British colonisation, that a sport had gained popularity so much so that it emerged out to be
one of the best teams in the world.
On account of the Geographical adversity, Australia is prone to a number of health issues.
The British essentially developed and established a number health care organisation in order to

the animal rearing industry was revolutionised by the British that lead to the overall progress and
development of Australia.
