Deciding on My Message
It is our collective responsibility as nurses to ensure that we raise our voices especially
when it comes to addressing the issues concerning the health sector. The public in general should
also be given a chance to communicate what concerns them as far as health care is concerned. It
is for this reason that I choose to strongly talk about the issue of health inequalities (Arcaya,
2015). I decided to address this issue in this particular paper as a nurse who strongly believes in
justice. The theme of “Justice and Inequality in the health sector” is the theme that keeps me
strongly motivated to advocate for elimination of health inequality.
This issue is very important since it affects many countries in the world including
Canada. Additionally, health inequalities are mainly brought about by unequal distribution of
income, wealth or power (Reeves, et., al, 2015). This affects us as nurses and healthcare sector
since it leads to unequal distribution of the right health care services. If this issue is appropriately
addressed, then I think I will be able to experience the equality I have been longing for together
with my other healthcare practitioners.
Deciding on how to share my message
To ensure that this message is widely spread throughout the world, I have decided to
develop a strong leadership in myself (Vaismoradi, 2016). I will be able to empower other nurses
and the public to strongly advocate for equality and justice in the health sector. To achieve this, I
will ensure that I use all possible means such as verbal communication, internet and meaningful
written documents such as this one. Some of the relevant social media platforms while sharing

my message include Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I chose on these platforms because of
their prominent nature in the social media setting. Currently most of the youth spent a large
percentage of their time on Facebook and internet. Internet is becoming the order of the day
following the current digitalization. However, I can’t neglect the role played by conferences in
delivering vital information to the public. I shall organize conferences with the respective
stakeholders and publish on social media platforms.
To properly address this issue, I will ensure that I allies with the government officials,
other nurses and more importantly the management of health care institutions such as hospitals
(Eika, et., al, 2015). This is because they have more connection therefore they can be able to pass
this message to other influential people. The follow-up, timing and format of this submission will
be influenced by the fact that this information should reach to everyone including the top
officials both in governments and healthcare sectors.
The main obstacle that I face when advocating for this message is luck of support in
terms of finances and enough human support (Devido, et., al, 2019). To deal with these
obstacles, I ensure that I use all that I have to reach to as many people as possible. The skills that
I will use to negotiate and advocate for this message appropriately include the use of thoughtful
planning. With a well-developed plan and enough support from the public, other nurses and the
authority, this message will reach out to everyone.
My message
To wrap up the message, it is evident enough that the health care is facing a lot of
challenges (Suphanchaimat, et., al, 2015). These challenges can either be minor or major but in
one way or another, they affect the quality of healthcare services provided. Everyone including

the medical practitioners, the public in general and the authorities should work together in unity
to ensure that the challenges faced by the healthcare sector are addressed appropriately.
What I learned from this assignment
From this assignment, I have learnt that every medical practitioner should not hesitate to
advocate for what they think is beneficial to the healthcare sector (Sullivan, 2013). This is
evidently seen by the media who are not too much concerned with healthcare. In this regard, I
have decided to raise my voice and spread the message of justice and equality to both the public
and the top officials (Jaimes, 2016). To become more influential, I will use everything at my
disposal including the internet and social media, my colleagues and other productive means such
as using written documents (Magnezi, et., al, 2015; Sullivan, 2013). To increase the visibility and
credibility of nursing and medical profession, I will ensure that I raise awareness especially in
schools for many students to take medical related courses so as to spread the message more
widely.
