Question 1
Moodle
Moodle is a free and open source learning management system which has being written
in PHP format. The major use of Moodle is being undertaken for the blended learning distance
education and other online learning schemes relating to schools and Universities. The Moodle
begin development in the year 1999 and was translated into 100 different languages (Mpungose,
2020). There are also different conferences being held by Moodle customer and researchers
name the MoodleMoots. This software can also be used in order to create custom website
relating to different online courses and also allows the community source plug- in. The major
theory being applied within the development of Moodle is the open source learning platform.
This open source learning platform is a type of theory which assists the company in gathering the
information and data relating to the concept from anywhere that is the open source. These open
sources allow different types of websites and other search engines to provide the required
knowledge to the person.
Along with this the emergence of Moodle platform is also adapted in order to support the
environment for the teachers and other professional development. Along with this Moodle is an
open source lamp Rainbow which includes Linux as the operating system and Apache web
server my SQL database and the PHP that is the programming languages being used within the
framing of Moodle (Ismatovna, 2021). Moreover the main function of Moodle is the open source
environment and inclusive the supporting of different types of courses and other classroom
activities and functions and different online teaching through modules and course Resource
Management and many other different activities. All these activities are very necessary for the
teachers in order to evaluate and improve the working efficiency of the company.
MS Office
Along with Moodle MS Office that is Microsoft office is another software which is being
used to for the effective working of the companies and business. The Microsoft office is a
collection of different types of applications and every application has the unique purpose and
requirements. These MS Office applications assist the person or the business and running the
system and effective manner and to save all the documents and related information effectively.
The initial release of Microsoft Office took place in the year 1990 and works under the operating

system named Microsoft Windows and is being available in 102 languages. The first version of
Microsoft Office involved three different types of applications that are Microsoft Word Excel
and PowerPoint. Over the years these applications have grown very fast and many new different
applications has been involved (Wattimena and Koibur, 2022). Also there are many different
improvements being taking place within the business and their adapting the latest versions of
Microsoft Office application so that the work can be done effectively and efficiently. Along with
this there are different types of applications being developed like Microsoft One Note, Microsoft
Outlook, one tribe, Microsoft teams, Microsoft Access, Microsoft project, Microsoft Visual and
many other different types of applications. Along with these mobile only apps are also being
developed like office lens, office mobile, office remote and many other different applications.
Applications and Web Services are also being developed such as Skype for business server,
Microsoft exchange server and services like Microsoft spray Microsoft forms and much other
different kind of services. Further on office on the web is also free light weight version of the
Microsoft office and it including three different web applications that is Word Excel and
PowerPoint. These are the most three commonly used applications and because of this it is also
being developed on web so that it can be used without the use of system.
Question 2
DSS (Decision Support System)
DSS that is decision support system is a type of interactive information system which
assists the company analysing large volume of data for taking the business decisions. This DSS
helps company while taking the decision in support of Management and operations and also
helps in leverage in the combination of raw data and documents for taking the decisions in better
and effective manner. The example of decision support system includes crop planning where in
the farmer makes the use of DSS in helping them to determine the best time for planting and
fertilizing and reaping their crops. Along with this another example of use of DSS is clinical
DSS where in it help the diagnosing their patients
ESS (Executive Support System)
The executive support system that is ESS is another type of software which assist the user
in transforming the data in quickly accessible report. These reports are there used by the different
departments in order to take decisions relating to the executive (Balapour Nikkhah and
Sabherwal, 2020). The system of ESS assists the company organising the department data and

try to utilise each and every information to the business for effective decision making. The
various examples of using ESS involves the external data bases, the market reports, financial
reports in information available and many other different kind of examples.
TPS (Transaction Processing System)
Along with this another software is transaction processing system which is a type of
computing that divides the work among the individuals and indivisible operations called
transactions. This is the type of software or the system which assist the company in collecting
storing and modifying the data according to the requirement of the enterprise (Putra and
Rahman, 2022). This is software which is basically created for managing the data transactions in
order to take better decisions relating to the business. The different example of transaction
processing system involves the electronic transfer funds which take place along with the airline
reservation system and the bank account processing system as well.
MIS (Management Information System)
The management information system is a type of software or process which helps the
company in taking the decisions on the basis of the different data relating to the business. This
MIS can be treated as a planning system is provides a base to the company for taking the
decisions in proper and effective manner. The major aim of this software is to collect and
organise the data in such a manner that it facilitate better decision making and improves the
quality of the company and its working. The major example of using the management
information system is payroll processing software and The E-Commerce as well.
KSM (Knowledge Management System)
Along with this the knowledge management system is a tool or technology which assists
in gathering the teams and organising and sharing information across the whole business and its
customers. It can also be stated as a technology solution which is being combined with the
process and people along with in storing the data and aligning it with the objectives of the
company. The various examples of using knowledge management system is Research and inside
libraries along with customer service knowledge base online community forums and many other.
Question 3
Globalisation has been defined as the trading of goods and services across the
geographical boundaries that is among different countries. With regards to the current

competitive environment globalisation is very important in order to improve the business and the
trading. It can also be referred to as the integration of the different economy for conducting free
trade of goods and services among them. This assists the countries in flowing the capital from
different countries among one another. With regards to the current competitive environment
having a globalised economy is very important in order to have a secure and stable working
position within the world. There are many different effects which the it has created over the
globalization. Some of the effects it created on globalisation are as follows-
1. Invention of world wide web- The first effect which IT created over the globalization
is the creation of World Wide Web. This worldwide web is a progression for
globalisation and was invented in the year 1991. With help of the worldwide web the
individuals are more connected with the digital content across the globe and can have
access relating to anything from anywhere.
2. IoT and AI- Another effect which was being created by the evolution of IT over the
globalization was the development of IoT and AI. This IoT is internet of things and
AI is artificial intelligence and these are the latest technology which currently the
companies are using (Santos and et.al., 2019). Within the globalised working
environment competition is already very high and intense and it is necessary for
companies to implement and use the latest technology. Hence this technology is also
provided with help of the IT and is assistive in globalised marketing.
3. Digital, mobile, personal and virtual movement- At last another affect which IT
created over globalization is the use of digital mobile personal and virtual movement.
Even a person can connect with any other person sitting at any corner of the volume
can connect through the digital and virtual presence. And this is only being provided
with the help of effective IT and this assist in globalised business.

i. Risks associated with Information Systems Outsourcing:
When the tasks of storing of data and management of information systems are given to
the external service providers it is called as Information System Outsourcing. This is naturally
done to save and reduce the cost of such storage of data and management of information system

and ensuring that the data is appropriately and properly secured. Now, there are certain risks
related to such outsourcing which are enlisted as follows:
 Inexperienced staff – There is possibility of inexperienced and inefficient employees being
hired for such outsourcing on which the organisation will have no considerable control on
their hiring and training.
 Reduced control – Outsourcing will involve transferring of responsibilities to another entity
and it means losing of the control of these functions by the organisation outsourcing.
 Hidden costs – There can be various hidden costs in this outsourcing which the organisation
cannot foresee in the present.
 Vulnerable information – There is a risk of trade secrets or other proprietary information
getting leaked to the competitors in case of outsourcing to other entity.
 Dependent on vendor – The organisation outsourcing becomes dependent on the
effectiveness of the vendor.
 Delivery – Service delivery may fall behind the set standards and time.
 Confidentiality – The confidentiality and security of the sensitive is at risk.
 Flexibility – The required changes may not be incorporated due to rigidity of the contract.
 Difficulties – Variations in the management of the service provider may pose difficulties and
friction.
ii. Importance of IT Infrastructure:
Digital transformation simply means transforming of a business digitally to ensure its
long – term future. It involves modifying the culture and technologies of the business
fundamentally for improved deliverance of the values to the targeted customers. This
transformation is crucial as the customers nowadays, measures the organisations against the
already raised bar due to this online, connected and digital era that surrounds all the beings and
organisations. One of its examples is the revamping of economic models like subscription
models used by Netflix, Spotify, etc.
Now it is known that communications were meant to improve through digital technology.
But there are certain barriers to this digital communication which are present both internally and
externally to any organisation which will hinder the ability of the technology to perform at its
fullest (Cassia and et.al., 2020). Examples of such digital barriers include lack of accessibility of

the system to the people with disabilities and slower speed of internet in various parts of the
world which affects the quality of services.
Infrastructure of IT for deliverance of business systems and processes that are IT –
enabled which includes, hardware, software, etc. is called IT Infrastructure. Now there are
various examples of it like:
 Network Equipment – It includes equipments such as routers.
 Computing – It includes hardware such as servers and softwares like OS.
 Telecommunication services – It includes facilities like leased lines.
 Power – It includes equipments like solar panels, battery systems, etc.
 Facilities – It includes infrastructure like data centres.
