Big data and data mining which is an important aspect of data analytics are described in this
essay. Along with that, it also explains business continuity plan and its application in
organization. A detailed explanation of nursing informatics is also described is also provided
in this essay as well.
Identification of one aspect of big data and data mining that is interesting. Explanation
of the concept and how it might bring value to healthcare
Big data and data mining are considered for identifying insight from a large collection of
dataset which is then considered for ensuing informed decision. This aspect of big data and
data mining is applied in various applications and industries. One such industry where big
data might be applied along with data mining is healthcare and an important application
where this might be considered is analysing effectiveness of treatment. In order to improve
quality of healthcare being provided to patients, it is important to assess quality of treatment
and this is where big data and data mining is so effective. Big data and data analytics are two
important concepts in advanced data analytics. Although these two concepts are different but
analysis of these concepts are required for application of data analytics in various industrial
context. Big data consists of large dataset that is huge in volume and include data that is
structured and non-structured as well. However, it needs to be identified that big data often
involves data that are not structured and this why advanced analytics is required for
identifying insight from data for meaningful applications as well. This is where data mining
is applied for identifying insight from large dataset often referred to as big data in data
analytics as well (Senthilkumar et al., 2020). In this digital era, healthcare has been
revolutionized through application of technology and in this digital revolution of healthcare,
data is the most important aspect. Data is collected in various context for example personal
information regarding patients, healthcare issues, causes and symptoms of those healthcare
issues and treatment provided to them as well.

Although these data are collected for improving quality of healthcare, but the problem is that
these data are not only huge in volume, but not structured as well. Therefore, it is not easy to
organize these data through traditional data analytics techniques. However, in order to ensure
that these data are effective in healthcare applications it is required to present these data in
such a format that it is easier to analyse these data for healthcare practitioners. Data mining
helps to compare and also contrast datasets regarding symptoms of patients, causes of
treatment along with course of treatment even though these data are not organized. This
analysis provides context to determine if provided treatment is effective or not and then if
required it is also possible to identify best course of a treatment provided for a specific illness
or some condition as well.
For example, when a patient group is provided different regimens of drug, it might be
compared to identify which plan for treatment works best for a patient group and therefore it
is easier to recommend most effective treatment plan. It not only enhances quality of
treatment, but also helps in saving money for treatment as best treatment is provided to them
through extensive data analysis for which data mining is important as well.
Description of the concept of continuity planning. Description of the preparedness
program that is recommended in this context
In order to ensure that organization is capable of ensuing smooth execution of their business
process, it is not only enough to identify issues that might affect business process, it is also
important to apply proper plan that offers strategies to recover business from issues for
example natural disasters or some technical issues like data breach or any type of cyber
security issues that affects continuity of business as well. Therefore, purpose of continuity
planning is to ensure that even though there are some issues that affects business process,
there are strategies available to minimize effect of factors that are threat to business

continuity. Therefore, it is important for organizations to analyse how to implement this
business continuity planning for enhancing business process as well (McMurray, Cross &
Caponecchia, 2020). the preparedness program recommended is described in details in this
context. An effective preparedness program needs to include three important aspects which
are identification and assessment of resources, writing plans in details and implementing
system for managing resources and provide training to the employees who will execute plans.
When there is a disaster in the business irrespective of its reason, it is required to apply
available resources for minimizing its effect on business continuity. Therefore, it is important
to ensure that required resources are identified in advance, otherwise it is not possible to
apply proper resources in implementing business continuity planning as well.
After identification of resources, it is required to write a detailed plan so that it is easier for
employees to identify what is the plan about and what is the purpose of the plan. Clarity
regarding objectives and purpose of the plan is required for ensuing that implementation of
the plan is effective and efficient as well.
It is not enough to identify resources and writing plan if employees are not capable of
implementing these plans. Therefore, one of the important aspects of implementing business
continuity plan is to ensure that employees obtain skills that are required in this context.
Therefore, training will be provided to employees so that it is easier for them to obtain
important skills that are required for implementing strategies provided in business continuity
plan as well.

healthcare education of the general public or of nursing students. Explanation of

It describes in details the benefits and drawbacks of applying health informatics technology
in healthcare education in context of educating the general public or of nursing students. It
also explains application of technology for enhancing quality of education for public and
nursing students as well ((Nazlı Ulusoy, Uslu & Yıldırım, 2020)). In analysing this,
recommendations of the author is also considered along with proper explanation of
advantages and disadvantages of application of this technology as well. Various methods of
nursing informatics that are applied in nursing education include methods that are considered
in nursing profession along with methods that are considered in nursing training as well.
Nursing informatics which integrates various hardware and software tools provide various
benefits to the nursing students along with nursing professionals as well. These benefits are
the followings ((Hebda, Czar & Mascara, 2020)):
 It provides facility of e-learning which makes learning effective and more accessible.
Though e-learning it does not require to students to visit to classroom or any
professor. Learning materials are available to the students and they are allowed to
access this materials anytime anywhere which makes learning personalized. It ensures
that learning is effective and efficient as well
 Another important tool for nursing informatics is Excel VBA which is guided through
road-map. It is capable of teaching nursing informatics in 8 to 10 days. This helps in
teaching nursing technologies in less time while enhancing leaning process of the
students as well
 Social media which is an important aspect of nursing informatics also helps students
in learning concepts of nursing education. It helps students in obtaining knowledge,
learning communication skills and improving skills in policies regarding health,
patient confidentiality along with ethics and writing as well

Some of the disadvantages of application of nursing informatics are the followings:
 It requires significant investment for implementation of nursing informatics in
education for nursing students or general public. if this informatics is not properly
implemented for reducing cost then it will affect quality of education as well
 Data breach might led to access to personal information that are collected for
providing students access to learning material important for educating nursing student
or general public in this context
 It will make students over dependent on technology which might affect their
knowledge as they will not learn things properly
In this context the author has proposed some strategies for enhancing implementation of
nursing informatics for educating nursing students or general public. These recommendations
are the followings:
 Whether implementing e-learning method it is recommended that pre-registrations
should be obtained from the students whether they want to access this method of
learning or not
 Smartphone might be considered for in nursing education as well
 Electronic health records which is becoming increasingly popular needs to be taught
to nursing students to enhance quality of healthcare services as well
From above discussions, it is clearly identified that although there are various benefits and
drawbacks of implementing nursing informatics in nursing education, it is possible to
enhance quality of nursing education through implementation of nursing informatics as it
provides various benefits to the students. It ensures that learning is effective and efficient as
well.
