INFORMATION SYSTEM 1
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) consists of digital technology
assisting organisations, individuals and business to use information. In organisations, it
makes activities of business effective, efficient and prompt while responding to the needs of
customers consisting manufacturing, sales and distribution, design, feedback, and R&D
(resource and development) (Park, Cho, Jung, & Main, 2015). This assessment will discuss
the value and use of “information and communication technology” within the business
operation. It will cover the operations of large engineering organisation while substantiating
the claim of role of communication impact or importance in a business along with interface
for customers. This information will explain the value to the organisation chosen for
assessment completion which is “IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)”.
IEEE is the largest technical professional organization across the globe dedicating the
technology advancement for the humanity benefit. In business, it is essential to have effective
communication for the interaction of management and employees to achieve the goals within
an organisation which adds value to the information. The impact of communication role helps
in providing and conveying information related to values, opinions, needs and perceptions of
employee along with selecting policies and programs (Heinilä, 2019). Also, it helps in
increasing the workplace programs utilization specifically by making aware to employees
about their availability along with services accessibility and usage, and demonstrating
management valuing and supporting the programs. Furthermore, it requires sustainable
measures implementation for improving the access to telecommunications infrastructure, the
Internet and increasing literacy of ICT (BusinessVibes, 2015). This helps in encouraging
applications and services networking, trade programmes and e-commerce promotion for
goods and services, establishment of e-government, internet access to exchange promotion
and digital content, promotion of online services and e-education, developing and building
ICT human resources and e-society, and strengthening network security.
ICT is for using the technology to handle information and its concepts aiding
communication. This is integrated within the economy globally along with making markets
more accessible globally as well. Within a business environment, adoption of ICT helps in
encouraging standardization and interoperability, open competition, financial resource, and
security and trust for ICT (Freeman, Elmirghani, & Despins, 2017). IEEE uses sustainable
ICT enabling the global goals through digital solutions impacting on achieving SDGs
(Sustainable Development Goals). The mission of an organisation is technological
advancement for humanity which shares new and compelling evidence of digital sector being

positively related to the SDGs achievement. This initiative defines the building of holistic
approach to sustainability along with green metrics incorporation through the technical
domains of IEEE (Carver, Penzenstadler, & Serebrenik, 2018).
Conclusively, this assessment described the value and usage of ICT in the operations
of business on daily basis where an example of IEEE is explained being a large engineering
organisation across the globe. There is a claim of substantial impact of communication role in
a business along with considering interface for customers where it is essential to value
information within an organisation. Thus, ICT is growing and impact positively within a
business environment at the time of performing activities for developing relationships
between the management and employees while communicating and encouraging the value of
information within the company.
