Subject: Information sharing
Legal barriers in the form of privacy laws imply the prohibition of information sharing as
far as maintenance of confidentiality is concerned. Such prohibition is reasonable owing to the
sensitivity of data as far as various levels of the government are concerned. The strategy relating
to the controlling of information flow is the sharing of information in a manner so that the
barriers are not transcended. It would also involve the following of the ethics related to public
safety. The barriers related to the sharing of information would be the laws and regulation
restricting the same as per the jurisdiction. The decision makers with regard to the controlling of
information in terms of Open Source Intelligence would be the authorities entrusted with the
maintenance of information security as per the laws and regulations in force. The barriers would
be the policies and frameworks along with the rules and regulations. The concept of cyber
security would also be a barrier in terms of information sharing thereby implying the limitations
with reference to Open Source Intelligence. An implementation plan would play an important
role in the addressing of the barriers as mentioned earlier taking into consideration the content in
the information through an in-depth analysis of the matter contained in the information (Kożuch
& Sienkiewicz-Małyjurek, 2015). The strategy related to the sharing of information in a
controlled manner is linked to the concept of information sharing at the global level n terms of
the current trends related to cyber regulations at the global level.

The initiatives relating to sharing of information undertaken by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation imply the massive transition related to security measures after the events of
September 11, 2001. Such initiatives are not only at the federal level but also amongst the law
enforcement agencies and the intelligence communities. It further implies that the data is to be

shared amongst the law enforcement agencies and the intelligence communities by the
application of the Patriot Act of 2001. As a result, the law enforcement agencies are empowered
to investigate in a detailed manner thereby leading to the prevention of terrorism to a
considerable extent. The Attorney General has off late passed a directive in terms of the
facilitation of communication between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the government
agencies. Such a strategy of the Federal Bureau of Investigation would imply the increase co-
operation between the law enforcement authorities as far as sharing of information is concerned.
It is observed that the standards of the Department of Homeland security are met in terms of the
strategy undertaken y the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Hipple, McGarrell, O’Brien, &
Huebner, 2017). The human rights and civil liberties of a person are not to be contravened by
such strategy as a result of online privacy invasion by sharing of information. The key thing
regarding the strategy is the maintenance of transparency in the sharing of information. The
strategy also implies the maintenance of national security thereby leading to the sharing of
information in a controlled manner. The legal entities are the law enforcement agencies and the
legal barriers include the restrictions imposed by law. It is also identified that there are ethical
considerations with reference to the sharing of information as far as the maintenance of
confidentiality of sensitive data is concerned thereby leading to the ensuring of privacy. The
aspect of interagency coordination is the sharing of information amongst the government
departments with regard to the prevention of activities related to terrorism in which the Federal
Bureau of Investigation has an important role to play. The intelligence cycle in terms of the
strategy of the Federal Bureau of Investigation implies the following of an appropriate and
organized procedure in relation to the sharing of information in order to meet the desired goals
and objectives in a comprehensive manner (Korte, 2017). The activities related to policing are
also undertaken in liaison with the intelligence communities as far as sharing of information is
concerned thereby implying the prevention of crimes related on part of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation in a considerable manner. After the events of September 11, 2001, there have been
polices at the federal level involving the flow of information amongst the government agencies
in a more extensive manner.
