Executive Summary
The report deals with the Sydney Medical Centre is Sydney. The organization wants to
implement information system in the organization to handle the business operations. The present
system does not provide real time information to the medical staffs in the organization. They also
cannot access the medical information and all the business operations are done physically. This
report states the way to improve the business operations by the implementation of information
system. All the system requirements, and the other tools and methods for developing the
information system are stated in the following report.

Introduction
The Sydney Medical Centre is a health center that is growing its popularity in Sydney.
The owner of the health center wants to improve its business operations so that the staffs are able
to handle the increasing growth efficiently. As a business analyst, there are different system
analysis that are to be done.
The system analyst needs to conduct interviews, review the existing reports in the
business, as well as observe the office operations that are associated with the business. It is
decided that the medical service and the medical procedure are to be coded in the new
information system so that a track is kept on working procedure of the medical staffs (Källestål
et al. 2015). The proposed new information system will help to provide the opportunity to SMC
to save the cost of handling the business, the medical staffs will be able to go online as well as
update the medical information with the help of new information system. The system will also
give access to the staffs to check the medical records and the appointment of the patients. The
new information system designed will also notify the patients about their appointments.
This report details the requirements that are needed to design the system, all the fact-
finding methods that are appropriate for the requirement gathering are explained in report. This
report includes two system developments tools as well as two methods of system development
for developing the new information system for SMC.
System Requirements
The system requirements that are to be included in developing the information system are
the functional requirements as well as non-functional requirements.

4BACHELOR OF BUSINESS
The functional requirements that are include in developing the system indicates the
processes that the user will input in the system of SMC and the system will return the user with
the related results (Silberschatz, Gagne and Galvin 2018). The input processing in the system
includes the storing of the inputs so that the calculations can be done and the data can be
retrieved when needed. The inputs are edited so that the accuracy is maintained. This information
system of SMC will includes the following functional requirements.
The patients will be able to input their names, addresses, their phone number and the
email address, and their appointment time in the center.
The staffs of the organization will be able to input their names and other details in the
system so that the management can track their working records in the business.
The system will take the appointment details in the system so that patients gets reminder
about their appointment a day earlier.
The system will generate the payment process which will specify the date of the
appointment, the name of the household, the total charges of the carrying out the
procedure, the payment done and the balance due for the service.
The system will also take input of details any monthly insurance for the patients.
The non-functional requirements mainly defines all the attributes that are related with the
users of the system and the environment of the system (Broman and Robèrt 2017). The non-
functional requirements mainly helps to identify the standards which includes the business rules
that the system will include and all the attributes that will help to refine the functionality of the
system. The non-functional requirements that are included in the system of SMC are listed
below:

The system that will be developed for SMC will have an efficient user interface that will
help the user to use the system easily.
The system will have the ability to be available for the users at all the time.
The system that will be developed will meet all the standards for developing the new
information system.
The system will be capable to mitigate all the failures and will also include data loss
tolerance in the system.
The interface that will be designed for the information system will satisfy the standards
that are used to design an interface.
The system will also have the ability to be extended in future.
Fact-Finding Methods
The fact finding techniques is mainly a process that helps to collect data as well as
information that are based on the techniques (Silberschatz, Gagne and Galvin 2018). The
techniques that are used in method of fact finding include sampling the documents already
existing for the organization, researching on the system, and observation on the business
operations, questionnaires, prototyping as well as requirement planning, and interviews. As a
business analyst, the fact-finding methods that will be used for developing the information
system are
Questionnaires: The questionnaire is a fact-finding method that helps to collect the
information from a large sample size. The users need to fill up the questionnaire that are
generally given by the business analyst or the system developer. The users answers back the
questions. The questionnaire helps to save time and does not consume time as taken in

conducting interview. The questionnaire helps to fulfill all requirements of the system objective.
A questionnaire is to be developed by the system analyst before conducting the questionnaire.
Advantages of Questionnaire: There is a freedom for the users to fill the forms and have
the freedom to answer them freely (Källestål et al. 2015). The questionnaire technique sis very
inexpensive. In the questionnaire technique, the users will be able to give real answer because
questionnaire do not include any personal information. In questionnaire, response are calculated
easily as well as analyzed easily.
Disadvantages of Questionnaire: There is a chance to receive incomplete answers from
the respondents. The body language of the user cannot be analyzed by the analyst. In this
method, there is no way to define fake or the incomplete responses given by the users.
Prototyping: The second fact-finding technique that can be included in developing the
information system is prototyping. This technique is mainly used for sampling the working
model of the system and it is mostly related to the pre-design model of the system. The
prototyping technique helps to develop the early stages of the developing the system and helps to
analyze all the facts.
Advantages of Prototyping: The users and the developers needs to test as well as
understand the whole system in advance before implementing the system. This technique also
determines the development of the information system.
Disadvantages of Prototyping: The trainers is needed for the developers for following the
prototyping technique. The users in this technique sometimes misunderstands the performance
and the reliability of the system.

Joint Requirement Planning: JRP is known as a structured group of working that is used
for identifying, analyzing the problems, as well as defining the requirements of a system
(Bergström et al. 2015). The JRP technique helps in system planning as well as helps to analyze
the system to find problems, requirements as well as objectives of the system. The users in the
JRP session are mainly responsible for the rules as well as requirement for the business prototype
as well as satisfactory decisions.
Advantages of JRP: The JRP group is mainly formed from different individuals having
different roles and covers the users and the levels of management. The JRP helps to safe time so
that the system can be developed as interviewing process is not required in the system.
Disadvantages of JRP: The members of the JRP group requires much detailed training
so that they can form a group (Kotzyba et al. 2017). There is a need of active participation for all
the individuals included for developing the system.
System Development Tools and Methods
The system development tools that can be used for developing the information system of
the SMC are:
Preprocessors: This tool is used for performing the preliminary works on the computer
programs. This is done before testing the system on a computer (Moser and Kalton 2017). There
are different types of preprocessors that includes filters mainly allows management for
determining programmers.
Program Analyzers: The tools helps to modify as well as monitor all the operations that
are to be included in the system for modifying the program (Dick, Hull and Jackson 2017). This
helps the developers to carry out the operations characteristics that are to be collected

automatically. The information that is gathered can help to modify the programs included in
developing the system software.
Online programming programs: These programs helps to analyze the program as well
as produce the files of the data that are needed to test all the logic that are used in the program.
The methodologies that can be used for developing the new information system are:
Rapid Application Development Method: This method can be used for developing the
new information system that helps to produce a system of high quality with some low investment
costs. This method of RAD helps to allows all such cost of investment (Harris, Burns and
Satpathi 2017). This RAD includes requirement planning, user design phase, construction phase,
and the cutover phase. With this method, the developer can get a clear objective and have a clear
user group.
Agile Development Method: The methodology of agile development mainly consist of
three phases: planning, collaborating as well as delivering the system. The agile method of
development is an iterative method where the users can change the scope of the project after
getting feedback from the users (Bahill and Madni 2017). The agile methodology helps to
minimize the risk of implementing a project. The agile methodology of provides benefit that
includes multiple iterations and helps to improve the efficiency for finding the defects as well as
finding the expectation of the requirement.
