INTRODUCTION
Information system (IS) is the set of components which is used for gathering storing and
processing the data with the purpose of providing information and other digital products. It refers
to the hardware and software system. The information system uses data stored on the computer
devices for providing the needed information. The data is stored in a structured and organized
manner which states about the interrelated and reflects the major aspect of the business activities.
This reports studies about the various elements of the computer system in respect to the
hardware, software, data, network and the security analysis. Along with this, a relationship has
been drawn between the computing architecture and business processes and analysing the
proficiency with computing related mathematics.
MAIN BODY
Identifying various elements of computer system
There are various elements that are being used by the business organization which are
interconnected to one another which is essential for effective business functioning and
implementation of business activities. A detailed description about the various computer
elements being used by The Torreate Lego Group is given below.
Hardware: The company using cloud computing, high storage RAM and computers and
laptops, hard disks and other storage devices (Ibrahim & Huimin, 2017). It also includes all other
physical system which is being used in information system.
Software: The company uses SAP business suite software. SAP AG, which is a German
based company specialized in enterprise software solution. It provides variety of solution for
meeting the various business requirements. The company has implemented SAP's Supply Chain
Management, product life cycle management and enterprise resource management modules.
Data, network and security analysis: The SAP software is based on the three tier client
server architecture which can be easily adapted to the new Service Oriented Architecture. The
first interface refers to the clients interface which can be run on the laptop. The application
servers are effectively monitored which leads to prevention of any data breach and also ensures
data security. It ensures that data generated is stored properly with all sorts of security.
Critically analysing proficiency with computing related mathematics
To be proficient with the computing requires to knowledge of discrete mathematics.
Algorithms is the basis of computing which are the set of instructions which are used for

implementation of instructions and commands, programs or application. Analytical skills are
required in computing which can be gained through mathematics. Analytical skills is very
important for the purpose of problem solving along with data analysation (Primi, Donati &
Chiesi, 2016). It helps in analysing the deviation that has been caused because of any mistake
that has been made and these mistakes are required to be solved for getting the accurate final
outcome. This job requires highly proficient and skilled personnel as this is all based on
algorithm and problem solving skills. Computing requires immense knowledge from the various
field of mathematics such as operating systems, databases, networking, AI (artificial
intelligence), data analytics and so forth. Few of them requires minimal mathematical knowledge
but most of them requires at least certain level of competency (Crossley, Liu & McNamara,
2017). For instance, in subjects like artificial intelligence and machine learning, there is a
thorough requirement of mathematical concepts such as linear algebra or multi variable calculus
and also probability requires pretty good knowledge of mathematics. Thus, for getting the work
done in an effective, timely and accurate manner will actually require the usage of mathematics
as the base.
For gaining expertise in the field of computer science requires the application of various
mathematical aspects. Another example is of Algebra while Boolean algebra is mainly utilized in
the logic gates, relational algebra is used in the databases. Another important example in relation
to this is number theory which has numerous application in the cryptography and cryptanalysis.
This creates a huge importance of mathematics in the filed of computing (Schneider and et.al,
2018). For conducting the technical work in computer requires professional expertise and
knowledge in the field of mathematics. But its not the same in all the circumstances for instance,
for the job like creating blog does not necessarily require application of mathematical
knowledge. Also, being a successful blogger is completely a different thing as it focusses on
audience, popular topics, ratings of the articles etc. and there is no requirement of mathematics at
all in these jobs.
Link between computer architecture and the business processes
The computer architecture refers to the description of the requirements and design
implementation for the different parts of the computer. It indicates about the functional
behaviour of the computer system (Poels, Ruiz & García, 2019). The Torreate Lego Group is
using distributed architecture which enables the authorized personnel to have direct access to the

database system of the organization from the different location all across the Europe, North
America and Asia. There are certain modules which are being introduced by the company such
as SAP's ERP-HCM module which is having other advanced features like talent manager for
those handling the employees of the workplace and has the responsibility of administration,
reporting and time and travel management. These features allow The Torreate Lego Group's
human resource personnel in order to select the best candidates, conducting periodic training and
creating the stimulus plan in order to retain them and managing the staff turnover (Sabri, Odeh,
& Saad, 2018). It is also possible the company implement performance measurement tools which
will result into getting the real time insight about the HR trends. Thus, implementing the
distributable architecture will affect the business processes as well.
The computer architecture which is composed of logical functions like instructions sets or
addressing the modes. This helps in coordinating between the hardware and the software system
of the organization. The Torreate Lego Group uses relational database management system
which stores data in a row based table which connects related data elements (Blal, R. And et.al,
2018). All these are connected to the business processes which includes the functions of
maintaining the security, accuracy and consistency level of the data. This architecture and
database management system helps in effectively integrity the business processes which leads to
proper management of the business in respect to human resource or supply chain or product
management. Utilizing these advanced features provided by the SAP software along with the
different types of tools being used or offered by the other vendors, enhance and make easy for
the managers of The Torreate Lego Group to keep track of the employees, their potential, career
development, forecasting the new recruitments with relevant knowledge and skills.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the about that information system is plays a crucial role in
handling the business activities in an effective manner. It can be related to the various business
aspects which helps the organization in effectively meeting with the changing market and
business demand so that focus can be put on important things. The various element of computer
system that is being used by The Torreate Lego Group which includes computer systems, storage
devices, routers, SAP software such as for supply chain management, product life cycle
management and so forth. Also, the skills and proficiency level required in relation to
computing. At last, it covers the link between computing architecture and the business processes

which results in to proper handling of the various business activities. Therefore, proper
implementation of information system within a business organization will lead to effective
management of the business.
