Computers can be classified under two categories i.e. According to functionality and

According to Functionality-
 Analog Computer: These type of computers are used to process Analogue data which is
represented in a physical form. Example: Mechanical Computers.
 Digital Computers: These type of computers are used to perform logical operations and
calculations using quantities as digits like binary numbers. Example: MacBook.
 Hybrid Computers: These computers are capable of both input and output of both
analogue and digital signals. Example: Computers used in Hospital to patients heartbeat

 These are one of the most powerful, expensive
and fastest type of computers which are capable
of performing immense amount of calculations
used for specialized purpose like for petroleum

 These are also one of the largest and expensive computers designed to perform
thousands of calculations simultaneously for users, mostly used by government
agencies like insurance companies or by large private companies who can afford
them.

Mini Computers:
 These are mid sized computers smaller and less expensive than mainframe
Computers. These systems are usually called as multiprocessing system which
supports time sharing and has high speed, capacity and size.

Micro Computers
 These are the most frequently used
computers also called personal computers.
These are of two types: Desktop computers
which fit into a single desk which consist of
desktop, keyboard, mouse and system unit.
 Portable Computers- These type of
computers are designed to carry in a bag or in
hand. They run on chargeable batteries.
