INTRODUCTION
Management information system refers to the activity that is related to all of the resources
that is come under the information technology and all of this managed and organized as per to
the needs and wants of the organization. It involves those resources which are tangible and
intangible such as networking, people, hardware, software and data & information. The main
aim of preparing this report is to identify and generate the value of using the advanced
technology. It is used to achieve and aligned the strategies of business that is very beneficial to
earn more stable environment and profits in the companies. The main objective of making this
project on managing information technology is to understand the value of using the technology
within the organization and its customers. Therefore, it also helps in continuous development of
technology to fulfills all the project of attract many consumers. In this manager of the company
planning and research the whole financial resources like when to invest the money in technology
or when to withdraw the funds from them. It is very useful in managing the funds of the firm in
the technology sector. Because of using the advanced information technology in management it
helps in developing and modifying the products in an innovative way. This factor or tool is a set
of discipline that helps in assisting the industry to acquire the knowledge related to the
technological fundamentals to gain the competitive advantages. This report explains the
categories of information systems and ERP systems that are used in the company for managing
the activities within the working place. Further it analysis the benefits of the ERP systems in a
real-life business so that they will earn more and more profits and helps in accomplishing the
targets that generate more market growth and longer sustainability of the business
enterprises(Rohitratana, 2017).

Categories of information system
There are various categories that is used in the managing the information technology in
the business enterprises. This helps in enhancing the employees’ performance within the
organization. An information system refers to the interrelated process of work that is used to
carry out the control actions, output and storage which is accessible in converting the data into
valuable information that further used in controlling, forecasting, planning, coordinating,
different operations and decision making process in the organization. It includes different
categories of the information system that are described below(Liu, Kimree Technology Co Ltd,
2016).
 Knowledge management systems (KMS) - It is very significant system that is used by
most of the companies in there day to day business. It provides the valuable and creative
information that helps the businesses to take unique and quick decisions for the welfare

of the firm and achieving the task on time. In this a company can shared the data and
information to the other staff members that create the opportunities from this source and
accomplishing the task on time. It includes the members related to the training,
accountants, lawyers and the managing consultants that assist in achieving the goals on
the specific time with the unique way.
 Decision support system (DSS) - This type of system is generally used by the top
management or the senior employer to make the decisions on the regular basis. This
information system used the data from both the sources i.e. from external source and a
internal sources. Making and managing this is to gives the solutions and answers to the
problems in a very unique and creative way and very frequently give the answer. This
model is used mathematical and statistical techniques for solving the critical issues in a
very interactive way. It includes the examples related to the bank loan management
system where the banker used to verify the credit of the loan candidates and predict the
time when it recovers the loan amount(Ilmudeen and Bao, 2018).
 Executive information system (EIS) - This type of system is used by the senior
authority of the organization who take decisions related to the tactical and strategic
operations. Its main objectives is to analyze and compare the trends that was useful in
making the strategic decisions for the company. It is organized and designed for
managing the tax laws and the competitors. For example if the owner and the
shareholders of the company want overall sales for every functional department as well
as economic data of the year this systems helps in providing the information related to
this and helps them to take healthy decisions for the benefit of the firm.
 Management information system (MIS) - It refer to a process of converting the data and
input into the information and output to the tactical managers to monitor the performance
and productivity status in the business enterprises. In this the output of the transaction
process system is the input of the management information system. These types of data is
used by the manager on monthly, weekly or yearly basis who gives the knowledge about
the previous used trends and examine which one is useful as per the current business
environment demand. These types of inputs are the data which is stores in a data
processing system. It includes sales management system that gives the information
related to the sales point of view, human resource management system used for the
welfare of the employees so that it will reduces the staff turnover and the budgeting
system used to analyze the money spending on long term and short terms plans(Avgerou
and Walsham, 2017).
ERP Systems
 Enterprise resource planning refers to a process of business management that is
used to allow an organization to follow a technique of integrated applications that
manages and organizes the back office functions which is based on the services,
technology and human resources. It integrated all the activities in the organization such as
planning, manufacturing, sales, organizing, developing, and marketing the products and

services that is gaining the profits and sales for the business firm. It usually implements
on the resource planning that is a significant term for the success of the enterprise. If any
industry does not follow it properly that it will face loss in the market place. It helps in
managing the overall activities within the business or all over the globe. Therefore using
this type of system and applications helps in achieving the goals within the small frame
of time or in a very minimum cost. Using this is very beneficial for accomplishing the
goal and helps the employees to do in a productive way. This software reduced the
manual workforce to do a particular task because all of its done by this system software.
For example, if a company use and install this system software in their working place
then this ERP system receives the customer order by use of supply chain solution and
after that automatically pass the information to the distribution center that will assist in
timely completing the order in a cost effective manner. Therefore, by using this technique
a person can track all the shipments, inventory levels and overall activities that were
related to the distribution process and complete it within the time frame and in a limited
financial resource. It includes some models i.e. accounts, manufacturing, customer
relationship management, human resource and inventory management. It can be installed

to work with effectively and efficiently. For example- Tesco, uses this system that helps
in efficiently done the work that helps in achieving the target on the specified time.

Because the company mainly focus on spending the cost on the information technology
which is related to the current trend and helps in achieving the targets.
 Improved reporting and planning- This system software helps the manager to analyze
the ability of the staff members of the different department functions of the organization.
It also includes the financial reports like income and cash flow statements that is
generally helps in maintaining all the task and effectively achieve the target.
 Improves efficiency- This ERP system software helps the Tesco Company to improved
the efficiency within the limited time and cost. It also reduces the repetitive manual
processes. This system likely aids the adoption of the best practices and actions across the
businesses(Garba, Armarego and Murray, 2015).
 Customer service- By using the enterprise resource planning it is beneficial tool for the
Tesco. In this manager of the organization install this software this helps in building the
relationship with the people and maintaining the customer so that the company can builds
its goodwill and revenue in the current market. In this they up-to-date the system so that
they timely analyze the customer and increase the sales of the business.
CONCLUSION
 From the above research project it is to be concluded that the managing
information technology is very useful tool for the organization that is helpful in achieving
the targets as per the need and preferences of the business enterprises. As per the need the
current demand of the business environment information technology is the best
application that helps in managing and controlling all the functions within the working
place. This tool is the best system for the firm for value the customer satisfaction and
efficiency of an employee. It includes the various category of the information system that
is generally used by the business to store the valuable information and for transferring the
inputs into the outputs. That will helps the manager of the company to know the historic
trends and from those which is useful select the those information so it will done in
effective time and cost. Further enterprise resource planning system helps in deciding and
analyzing the resource so it will eliminate the wastage and the task can be done on the
specified time and cost. Therefore it also shows the various benefits of the ERP system
that helps the real life business in achieving their targets within a short period of time and
helps in longer sustainability of the enterprise(Shepherd and et. al., 2016).
RECOMMENDATION
From the above mentioned project it should be recommended that the use of this
technique is very helpful for the large business organization as compare to small business
enterprises. Because in its installation it covers huge amount of cost and time but working in this
is very beneficial because it helps in eliminating the cost and wastage in the use of the resources.
By using this analysis it would suggest that the company mainly focus on this strategy tool and

for this they give proper training to the people or employees who are working on this. This will
helps in managing all the resources and activities within the organization.
