INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND OF PROJECT
Technology plays important role in the development of every industry as it simplifies the
work of individuals working within it and brings range of opportunity for the same sector.
Performance of the taxi industry has been changed a lot with the passing time (Hirschhorn, al.,
2019). Advancement of the technology has supported taxi industry a lot and helped them out to
serve its customers in more adequate manner. Mobile banking, GPS technology and instant
presence are determined as the three main effective ways which has placed positive impact over
the taxi industry (Panda and Kapoor, 2017).
This present investigation has been conducted for UBER, an American multinational ride
hailing company which basically provides rental car and other vehicles facilities to the
customers. Apart from this, the company also offers food delivery services to the customers
which are popular with the name of UBER Eats. With the passing time the company is growing
in the rapid manner as it is acquiring latest technology with the motive serving its customers in
better manner and enhancing profitability as well as success at market place (Reisinger, Michael
and Hayes, 2019). This investigation has been conducted for analysing impact of information
technology on the taxi industry. Along with the company also wants to know about the influence
of technology over the security local taxi operators in Birmingham as its manager thinks that
advance technology has placed impact over the taxi operators functioning.
RESEARCH RATIONALE WITH JUSTIFICATION
The main purpose of conducting this research is the personal interest of the investigator
towards the upgrading technology and how it is influencing different industries especially taxi
industry. Apart from this, by conducting on the topic “The Impact of Information Technology on
the taxi industry” scholar wants to improvise their knowledge on the same sector so that they can
further enrol into the same industry after completion of their studies (Kalra, 2019). Another
influential reason for conducting investigation topic is to develop understanding on the impact of
information technology on taxi industry by conducting appropriate literature on it (Basari and
Shamsudin, 2020). Another motive of conducting this research is to improvise some essential
skill that will help investigator in performing research effectively.

PROJECT AIM AND OBJECTIVES

influence over the security of local taxi operators in Birmingham” A case on UBER.

According to the perception presented by Duncan and Lockhartt, (2018), it has been
determined that technology plays essential role in the business performance of every industry.
Now a days, the market structure developing from different sector through upcoming the new
technologies or resources which effect the human life into positive ways. Specially now
everything is digitalise where people can easily access the resources through online where
smartphones plays an important role in it (Hine and Mitchell, 2017). Through this opportunity
the transportation invades into this digital world and providing the online services through
mobiles such as cabs are creating a benchmark in the digital world, there was time when people
use to go far from their places to book transport facilities now they can easily book from online
through mobiles (Singh, 2016). In this the services are upbringing the choices for the customers
where they can book a taxi as per their own, the trend which can be applicable there should be a
proper authentic application for users, improvisation in GPS system to easily detect the people's
location, providing the different choices of cabs like hatchbacks,sedan,or any other luxuries, the
services should be provides at 24 hrs in a day. For example; UBER is one of the suitable for
today's online transportation services from all over the world their services are very flexible in
nature and feedbacks are strongly effective by them, most of the people access the UBER service

to travel their respective places, it is not negotiate in terms of prices because it display on an
application which is fixed their services are very cooperative an friendly which bring consumer
satisfaction (Aboah, 2019). Availability of payments of these services should be in cash as well
as virtual cash, where customer can easily pay for their travels.
Role of technology towards the security of local taxi operators of Birmingham
On the basis of information represented by the author Sbragia, (2019), it can be said that
technology plays essential role in the growth of the taxi industry as they are able to serve its
customers in effective manner. Advance technology not only serves customers in adequate
manner but at the same time it supports businesses dealing in taxi industry to make work of the
all the taxi operator easier (Singh and et. al., 2019). It has been further analysed that popular
companies of taxi industry like UBER makes use of advance technology such as navigation,
online booking, online payment options and many others (Sbragia, 2019). It can be further said

provides higher security to its taxi operators. This can be well understood with the help of

security, any illegal business doing apart from it can be destructed as well as accidents can
increase the expenses for the company, Taking too long arriving in the location or lack of
punctuality can deactivate the customers (Radziwill and Benton, 2017). The price chargeable
more than the original price proposed to the consumer can account as the dishonesty. Network
unavailability of internet can being huge loss to the company because the UBER services
depends on it. These type of challenges can be faced through competitors factors and other
factors by which they can have upgrade and recover the conflicts before it appears or having a
strong and effective compliances for their drivers.

whereas, it will require approx £60 for equipment & other resources. All of these resources will
be effectively used by investigator for attaining research outcome. In order to utilise overall
information in adequate manner researcher will initially develop the plan for himself as well as
the team members who collaboratively work for conducting research effectively (Gursoy and et.
