INTRODUCTION
Information technology is defined as the system of applications which is used in the
computer system. Information technology is used to store, transmit and manipulate the computer
data. Furthermore, it is also helps in effectively storing and preserving the data at one place. It is
beneficial for the company as it enhances various numbers of opportunities which have adopted
by much organization which contributes in generating more profit for the company and growth
opportunities for the future (Chege, and Wang ,2020). The present report is based on Tesco plc
which is one of the leading and largest supermarket chains. The company has also expanded it
business operations with the help of adopting new and advanced software system which has
helped the company to effectively collect the data and made strategies accordingly.
The report covers the classification of computer that is used by the business. Various
ethical and social issues in the business and its importance in the digital world(Sathish, and et.al.,
2020). The study further highlights the role of information and communication technology,
impact of internet and intranet on the business and role IT in management of the business.

considered as most important tool whether the company is operated solely or in the partnership.
Every company whether it is operated on large or small scale uses computer system for storing
the data of the daily transaction of the business.With th evolution of the technology computer is
classified on the basis of size and capacity and on the basis of purpose.
First on the basis of size and capacity
According to the Jouppi, and et.al., (2020) supercomputer is the fastest, powerful and the
most expensive type of computer for processing the data of the business. The size and storage
capacity are also used basically designed to process large amount of data in short period of time
and also result in to increase the productivity. On the other hand Ying, and et.al.,(2018) states
that mainframe computers refers to multiprogramming and high performance computers that

contrary it is believed that multi frame computers storage capacity is enormous also contains
high speed processor. Stated by the Patterson, (2018)super computers is basically used in
scientific research Laboratories where mainframe computers is is basically used by the
departmental and commercial organisations such as Bank and companies and also government
departments like Railways. In order to increase the efficiency it is suggested that Tesco can also
use means in computer system in order to store and process use data in order to record all the
transactions relevant to business.

many users which also help and process various other accessories suggest printers. These are

information that is spreaded by any unauthorise person can result into negative image of the
company in the eyes of the customers which ultimately affect their profitability and sales. On the

and negative impact on the business and the ethical issues faced by the company can have long
term negative impact on the business of the company. Moreover, it is necessary for Tesco to
develop and adopt new and advanced technology in their software systems which also help in

technology can have various benefits but it can also have various limitations which can have
long term impact on the company which is necessary to solve in order to effectively operate the

privacy and security issues that is faced by the business in the digital world. Data and customer
information is one of the most aspects of every business and misuse of the information can have
negative impact on the business. Use of artificial intelligence can have positive impact on the
business but it can also have negative impact on the business.

by the business which can have negative impact on the business so it is necessary for Tesco to

the number of cyber attacks and unauthorised use of information has enabled the company to
provide more protection and data security(Einhorn, Marnewick, and Meredith, 2019). From the
findings it can be said that it is necessary for Tesco to use new and advanced technologies in
their systems in order to understand the requirements and preferences of the customer which has
helped in delivering quality products as per their requirements. On the other hand it is also
observed from the findings that Information and communication technology is also considered as
important part of the business as it helps to use to manage the telecommunications and intelligent
building systems. It also helps in making business more efficient which also helps in quickly
responding the customers’ requirements and needs and deliver products and services accordingly
in the market.
Apart from this it is also observed that with the help of internet connectivity all the
technologies and business are running efficiently which would not have been possible without
internet. Furthermore with the help of internet connectivity has helped the companies to collect
the data and buying habits of the customers and create marketing strategies accordingly . On the
other hand digital marketing techniques that is used by the company can only be possible with
the helps of internet .thus it plays a very major role in running the business operation
efficiently .On the other hand from the analysis it can be said that intranet is also considered as
useful tool for business as with the use of it enhance the internal communication among the
various departments of the company such as sharing of information and data from one
department to another and also helps in overcoming the issues that arise within the
company(Andry, and et.al., 2019). Apart from this limitation has also been analysed that excess
cost is incurred in setting up the intranet for the business and is considered as complex process in
order to run the business efficiently. Information technology also helps the manager to effective
coordinate and communicate with the employees and other stakeholders of the company
operating form the remote areas which also results in to increasing the efficiency and they can
take quick decisions for the benefit of the company.
