changes in the world. The economic and social structure has been widely affected due to
information and communication technology (Buhalia & Schertler, 1999). Through this
technology there are various segments in which it has given a chance of development such as
Travel & Tourism. Travel and Tourism has been widely benefited as they expanded their
market from local to global. Travel agencies have also started developing as the market of
travel has been expanded. Technology helped the travel agencies to operate their day to day
business and function in much more flexible way.
Travel Agencies have become more competitiveness due to the ICT implications.
Their hospitality has been increased and it has also helped the companies to reduce their
transaction and operational costs. It has also improved the productivity of a company due to
fast transfer of information through technology. Today with the help of high speed internet it
is easy for the travel agency to book a trip very quickly that helps to easily reserve a seat for
the customer. Customer Satisfaction is the main goal for any travel agency company and
through ICT it is becoming easy to reach on that goal. But it is also a negative side of high
speed internet is that people book a trip easily through themselves. As internet provides
access to all and can also help them to compare prices and do all their researches. It is a big
challenge for any travel agency company to deal with the modern day consumers and to deal
with this challenge it is required that travel agencies should also modernise by understanding
the consumer knowledge and to deal with that accordingly and providing better services than
the consumer cannot easily do by itself (Buhalia & Schertler,1999)
Information and Communication Technology has variable effect on market share.
Effective use of technology can increase your market share but on the other side if the ICT
cannot be used properly which can also decrease your market share. Innovation is required
for any company to maintain its stability with this changing world. Technology will always
get transforming but it is necessary for travel agencies to transform with the technology with
the innovative ideas. In this information technology where all the data can be recorded easily
and access to any information becomes easy that can help travel agencies to reach to
customers and can know their requirements and that also gives the wide reach to the company
(Amadeus 2018).
In conclusion, has been proved that information and communication technology has
transformed and change the working of travel agencies. As in modern world where access to

the Travel Agencies to still play an important role in the market and to play that role travel
agencies has to be more advance through information and technology and understanding the
market needs and to provide better assistance to their customers and satisfy them properly by
fast bookings and through innovative skills. Through it can be said that information and
communication technology has a positive impact on the travel agencies rather than a negative
impact.
