INITIATING AND PLANNING PROJECTS 2
INTRODUCTION
The success of a project calls for a leader who has the ability to effectively interact
and communicate with the project team members. In this essence, learning will be an
essential tool in addition to my experience to aid me in realising a range of aspects related to
management. Good management in a team hone interaction and coordination in managing
different situations (Srivannaboon, 2009). The reflection part in this sense is learning that has
been achieved in the course of team management. The key reflection is regarding project
management with the being to sustain the project team unity for the success of the project. I
learned two lesson in the course of action. First effective communication is key while
managing a team of individuals and second good leadership skills (Kelly, 2018). The task of
managing people is tough because it entails evaluating their performance based on the
planned strategies. These lessons are significance in relation to team management since they
decline conflict due to misunderstanding for successful work delivery. These factors played a
great role in improving my learning.

I involved two of my friends
taking the same course. In
the process I learnt a number
of things and the most key is
that working in a team hone
the organisation structure of
information. The most
significant aspect that I have
learned is that the best way
while working in a group is
listening to all members.
The best approach to avert
disagreements is allocating
each member a different
task. This provide each
member with a

factors that result in
problems in a team like poor
communication and conflict
among team members.
Certainly, project members
experience disputes because
of poor communication
channels, such that not all
members are informed about
a given aspect in a project.
As a result, such issues leads
to lack of understanding
between members. The
project manager should

responsibility. After
completing each task the
team should hold a meeting
to discuss their achievement
and challenges, through this
approach it is not possible to
hear of disagreements.
Indeed, by allowing
members to work on
different tasks provide them
the opportunity to work with
minimal interference, which
is significant way of

all project members any
project changes to avoid
confusion among teams.
Similarly, working in a team
has allowed me to become
responsible as compared to
working alone. When an
individual work alone it is
easier to procrastinate.
Working in team allows one
the responsibility to work on
a specific project within the
stated time, which help to
avoid postponing (Hargie
et., 2017). Working in team
allows one to develop
leadership skills in the
project that they are in
charge since the project
depend on each member’s
contribution.

1. Situation 2. The situation made me
feel…
3. What I learnt from
reflecting on the situation
In the course of working on
the course project
PPMP20008, it came my
understanding that the project
team members were not
proactively taking part in
some project discussions and
scheduled meetings. In
addition to that, I realized that
there some members who
were discouraging other
members, which is a negative
contribution to the project
quality and effectiveness
Cleveland, & Cleveland,
2018). Indeed, these
behaviour is a reflection of
lack of seriousness and
unprofessionalism among
team members. These
behaviours impact negatively
on the team productivity.
The situation of discouraging
project members and some
members not participating
actively toward the success of
the project made me feel
disappointed. The role of the
project leader is to ensure
effective communication,
which should involve each
project participant. Some of
the members behaviour of
discouraging other members
really annoyed me because
working in as a team should
work to unite people and not
to disunite them. The
discouragement made me feel
that those members who were
discouraging others their
intention was not to realize
the course project objectives
but their personal interests.
When working in a project all
members should work toward a
common goal. To ensure no
cases of disagreement among
team members the project
manager should possess
effective skills of
communication to ensure that all
members are on the same page
(Harrington & Lewis, 2013).
Lack of proper communication
leads to disagreement among
teams which leads to wasting
much time on resolving disputes
instead of working on the
project (Kerans, 2014).

I faced a situation of not
having prepared a
contingency plan for the
project.
This situation made feel
frustrated and confused
because I had no any backup
plan for my project, which
means that in case the first
plan could fail I would end
being doomed.
I learned that before starting any
project it is important to check
and ensure that all project tools
and requirements are in place
before commencing the project
(Kerans, 2014). This is
significant because it helps to
avoid confusion and frustrations
in the course of the project.

To conclude, through this project course PPMP20008, I have learned various
significant aspects in relation to project management. In this sense, I will use the documented
learning lessons from this project for my future projects.
