Abstract
The study focuses on analyzing the factors through which Instagram can improve its users’
experience. The enhancement of the users’ experience is mainly based on detailing the key
causes of users’ dissatisfaction. Since Instagram is one of most widely used social media
application, it becomes a foremost necessity to understand the factors that can cause users’
dissatisfaction. The proposed research aims in evaluation of the factors that determines the users’
satisfaction while using the application. There can be a number of factors directly or indirectly
related to the process of enhancing users’ experience. The proposal proposes the use of primary
data collection method to gather the needed data for the study. The methods section identifies
and justifies the use of suitable tools and techniques to collect and interpret the data needed for
the study. A preliminary data collection reveals that majority of the users want certain basic
features such as “ability to download individual posts” or “flexibility in choosing add
preferences”. These factors play a critical role in improvement of users’ experience. Along with
that, the preliminary data collection reveals that there is a demand for an option of premium
account. The research method outlines the pathway of successful research execution and
completion. The research is expected to gather valid data from the Instagram users and success
of the study will enable Instagram to improve its basic functionalities as per the needs and
expectations of its users.

Introduction
Instagram is a social media application that enables its users to share photos and videos.
This medium is further used for various promotional activities and is one of the widely used
application across the globe (Pessala 2016.). Since Instagram has a variety of purposes, it is
necessary to address the factors that can enhance the experience of the users while handling this
application (Hu, Manikonda and Kambhampati 2014). The undertaken study aims in analysis of
the factors in which Instagram can improve its user experiences. The study will make use of
primary data to collect information directly from Instagram users (Handayani 2015). The users
will be distributed with a preset questionnaire that will contain questions related to the users’
experience and the factors that can affect the users’ experience.
The researcher has identified certain factors that can considerably affect the user
experiences. These factors include the feature of “hiding likes”, “privacy setting for individual
post” “pin the post on top”, “report or share other post” and others. The study proposes the use of
primary data because it will be predominantly effective in this case. The use of primary data for
the study is justified since the study is based on finding the factors that can improve the users’
experiences (Kronbauer, Machado and Santos 2015). The study has made use of descriptive
research design and deductive philosophy. This particular research approach and research
philosophy is chosen particularly because the study involves use of primary data. The successful
fulfillment of the research is expected to provide evidences of improvement in certain basic
factors that can contribute to improving the users’ experience.
