1PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Overview of the importance of Integrated Change Control (ICC)
Performing ICC is very much important while carrying out integration management of
project (Hornstein, 2015). While carrying out a project, there are always change request from the
customer or the client. The changes be evaluated by the change control board. If the change
control board approves the change, the change are finally implemented. The changes in a
particular project are handled in Integrated Change Control process (Kerzner, 2018). Until
implementation to close, this process ensures that the change in the project is done successfully.
Process of ICC
For evaluating the impacts of the change, it is very important to plan a realistic plan for
project management and then complete the project scope (Han, Lee & Nyamsuren, 2015). A
complete plan of project management and scope can actually include interdependencies of the
activities or the components in a project. With complete project scope and project plan, the
impact of the change can easily be evaluated properly on all other parts of project.
It is the duty of the project manager to prevent root cause for the changes that are
required in a project. Making changes frequently cause frequent updates and frequent revisions
on the project plan and this requires more time for rework (Harrison & Lock, 2017). The targets
of the projects and the dates scheduled gets altered by the implementation of change request in a
running project. If objective of the project and the target dates keeps on changing frequently,
there can be demotivation in the project team.
Many of the companies have established procedures for performing the ICC process that
helps in managing as well as controlling the changes in the project. Evaluating the changes as
well as implementation of the changes in project is a very complex process. All the steps of

changes that is done in a project are also to be documented along with the processes and policies
involved.
Real-life experience related to ICC
According to my opinion, ICC is an important process for conducting any project. As
client keeps on changing the requirements, ICC can help to manage all the changes effectively.
An example of effective ICC stated below. A contractor working in our home was hired to
remodel the kitchen. When he has done with pulling out all the old furnishing from the kitchen,
we said him that we need trash compactor in our kitchen. We have not mentioned this earlier at
the time of contract. The contractor stops for a moment and then again started back to repeat all
the process to process the request by us. He got busy in finding out shops that could provide the
new demanded appliances. The contractor says us that he will provide the change in the contract
and the contract should be signed again.
If the contractor has not implemented the change management in his work, then we
would not have the trash compactor in our kitchen. He took a hardest decision of implementing
change management in his work. He also carefully defined all the changes that was undertaken.
A problem that is defined badly is very difficult to solve and a change that is badly defined is
also very difficult to make.
