INTRODUCTION
Information and communication technology refers to the extended form of information
technology. This process assist in communicating with others in unified and integrated format. In
order to make this system systematic, there is use of computer system, software, middleware,
storage, etc. In this technology, there is requirement of internet connection, cell phones, wireless
network, etc. Information and communication technology is important in current market and
business growth and development (Bainbridge, 2013). In this report, there is discussion about
different web conferencing providers with their characteristics, comparison and contrast. Apart
from this there is study of skills required to conduct online investigation and challenges faced by
them.
Two different Web Conferencing providers to compare and contrast their features and discussing
their applications and suitability for businesses
There are different web conferencing providers such as Skype, Going to Meeting, Zoom,
Team viewer, etc. through which people can connect with each other. In order to order to
conduct business operations properly and in effective manner, there is requirement video calling
through which actions can performed in synchronise manner.
Skype-
Skype is the communication technique through which individuals communicate with each
other through texts, audio and video HD calls. Skype is the connecting medium to people sitting
at different geographical region. There is one to one and group communication through mobile,
PC, Xobo, etc. There is facility of Video and HD audio calling through which individuals can
share their views and experience with each other. With Skype, employer can communicate with
employees by sharing their screen instantly. So this method is less formal. There is facility of
instant chat if some specific topic has to be evaluated (Bloom and et. al., 2014).
Zoom-
Zoom is another video conferencing technique which assist in communicating with
individuals through audio and video chat, conferencing, etc. There is requirement of conference
room, huddle, training room, etc. This application was launched in 2011 to bring all the team
mates at one place to discuss some common topic. With the help of zoom individuals who have
organised zoom has full control over it. Zoom audio and video call can done through breakout

session, so clients and employees can break into small sections for the purpose of training and
online classes (Ding and et. al., 2015).

communicate with other individual but there are some difference as well which are discussed as

 With both these video conferencing application or software, high quality HD audio and
video call facility is available. Individuals can share their screens with each other.
 Skype and Zoom have feature of real time chat, private and confidential conservation, file
sharing, video messaging, etc. There is facility of instant chatting with each other if some urgent topic has to discussed
by popping out chat heads (Garvey, 2014).
Suitability and application of Zoom and Skype in context of business
Skype is suitable in organisations where different plans and projects are going on because
it has facility of instant message. This is better when individuals wants to communicate with
other person sitting at some distant place. This is beneficial when meeting has to be conducted
among less individuals.
Zoom is beneficial for business because with using zoom video conferencing media, it is
easy to communicate with consumers and make strategies as per their demand. When
organisation is launching sometimes new and want to portrait themself in front of foreign
delegates, then it assist in giving clarity because of high quality HD video call (Kärcher, 2013).

Skills required to conduct research online and the challenges being faced
Online research refers to the method for conducting in- depth investigation about some
specific topic for understanding and getting justification of any problem. So research is the work
through which some justification is provided as conclusion and recommendations (The 6 Online

SKILL: DATA COLLECTION AND GATHERING SKILL
There is requirement of data collection and gathering skill to go beyond the surface. This
skill assist to know what is pros and cons of selected topic. It is important to understand changes
which are specific and relevant in context of understanding different aspects of topic (Krikidis
and et. al., 2014). In order to make investigation, authentic and reliable, researcher has ability to
collect information through secondary sources such as online sources, newspaper, magazines,
etc.
Challenge
If individual does not have proper and in – depth knowledge about topic, then they are
not able to conduct investigation in effective manner. If there is lack of time, then this skill gets
weaken because individual does not have proper time to complete in effective manner (Bloom
and et. al., 2014). Cost is main aspects which gives negative and positive impact on data
collecting and gathering information. Mindset of individuals is not to conduct online research,
then they are not able to collect and gather information in better and effective manner. These are

There is requirement of patience as skill for conducting online research in better and

best opportunity. These days, individuals want on demand information which is not possible in
case of authentic and reliable sources. If information is not available instantly, then individuals
are starting poking surroundings which gives negative image (Law, Buhalis and Cobanoglu,

In order to gain this skill there is issue of not getting good link to collect relevant
information. Due to tough topic,m there are possibilities that individuals has to give time to get
good link, so this makes them irritate. Some times, language entered at google is not related with
topic, so individuals is not able to get exact information which is required.

SKILL: PARAPHRASE SKILL
While conducting online research, there is requirement of paraphrasing skills, so
information can provided in own words by individuals without copying it. If same content will
be copied, then possibilities of plagiarism will be more which affects outcome of study
(Vaishnavi and Kuechler, 2015). In order to collect information from different sources
individuals has to study and use information from different sources and then rewrite in their own
words. So paraphrasing skills is crucial while conducting online investigation.
Challenges
Sometimes some information is tough to understand and analysis its interpretation, so
individuals thinks it is relevant and gives value to heir study, so they direct copy paste it.
Sometimes individuals is not able to collect information from other sources, so they gather
information through Wikipedia which is not specific source. While getting some definitions
through online sources of some specific author, individuals copy paste it as it is, because they are
not able to paraphrase it (Bainbridge, 2013).

Zoom can be used for video and audio call in order to communicate about new project to
individuals sitting at distant place to motivate them for investing. While Skype must be used for
making instant decision. So both the video conferencing applications are suitable and relevant for

collection and gathering information skills, patience, etc. With using such skills, investigator can
